Tremé is a neighborhood of the city of New Orleans, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Tremé is often rendered as Treme, and historically the neighborhood is sometimes called by its more formal French names of Faubourg Tremé; it is listed in the New Orleans City Planning Districts as Tremé / Lafitte when including the Lafitte Projects. Originally known as Back of Town, urban planners renamed the neighborhood Faubourg Tremé in an effort to revitalize the historic area. A subdistrict of the Mid-City District Area, its boundaries as defined by the City Planning Commission are Esplanade Avenue to the east, North Rampart Street to the south, St. Louis Street to the west and North Broad Street to the north. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, and early in the city's history was the main neighborhood of free people of color. Historically a racially mixed neighborhood, it remains an important center of the city's African-American and Créole culture, especially the modern brass band tradition.

ABANDONED Buildings in the Bywater New Orleans
While documenting the original Schwegmann's Grocery Store in the Bywater area of New Orleans, I came across a couple of old, abandoned buildings attached to it. I couldn't find any information about them so if you know anything please let me know. I also found a bizarrely decorated Pay Phone.

The offbeat Marigny district is known for its Cajun bistros, bohemian bars and jazz clubs, especially along Frenchmen Street. Sidewalk musicians and brass bands add a block party vibe to the nighttime Frenchmen Art Market, which sells local artwork and handicrafts. Quieter spots include Washington Square where the lawns are shaded by old oak trees. The Marigny Opera House offers an eclectic program.
The Faubourg Marigny developed as New Orleans’ second suburb in 1806 and was the first historic zoning since the Vieux Carre. The Marigny is a top choice for New Orleanians and visitors looking for great music, fine food and an authentic, historic neighborhood.
Immediately downriver of the French Quarter, the Faubourg Marigny was once the plantation of a Creole bon vivant who made the dice game “craps” popular in America and who dazzled New Orleans by his style and enormous inheritance. After subdividing the property in 1806, it developed gradually with a distinctly European flair and a cosmopolitan mix.
Today’s Marigny is still cosmopolitan; a singles-friendly and artist-friendly neighborhood that people from all over the world have chosen to make their home. Beautiful Creole and Classic Revival cottages that stood abandoned after residents left for the suburbs in the 1950s have been restored and painted in rich golds, brick reds and moss greens.
Historic banks, corner stores and even bakeries have been refurbished as homes and guesthouses, while riverfront warehouses now accommodate artists' studios and performance spaces. Weekends bring shoppers to independent galleries and rummage stores in lower Marigny.
When you have seen and heard enough of Bourbon Street, experience life in New Orleans the way the locals do. With great music and food any day of the week, the Faubourg Marigny has all the life and vivaciousness of a true New Orleans neighborhood.
Located only minutes away from the French Quarter, the Bywater neighborhood has an abundance of traditional architecture and has become a haven for preservationists and do-it-yourself renovators. The area is between the Faubourg Marigny and Holy Cross districts, and it sits atop some of the earliest land grants in the city.
The Bywater is home to some of the city’s trendiest restaurants and bars, many of which also host live music. Area restaurants feature upscale dishes made with local produce, craft cocktails, carefully selected wines, gourmet pizza, po-boys, barbecue and everything in between.

Directly adjacent to the French Quarter in New Orleans, the Tremé is the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States, as well as the birthplace of jazz music. Tremé's influence on broader American culture can't be overstated, and its people have surmounted numerous challenges over the last three hundred years, including social upheaval following the Civil War, racist legislation during the 20th century, and more recently the implacable march of urban gentrification.

The Central Business District (CBD) is a neighborhood of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.
A subdistrict of the French Quarter/CBD area, its boundaries, as defined by the City Planning Commission, are Iberville, Decatur and Canal Streets to the north; the Mississippi River to the east; the New Orleans Morial Convention Center, Julia and Magazine Streets, and the Pontchartrain Expressway to the south; and South Claiborne Avenue, Cleveland Street, and South and North Derbigny Streets to the west. It is the equivalent of what many cities call their downtown, although in New Orleans downtown or down town was historically used to mean all portions of the city downriver from Canal Street (in the direction of flow of the Mississippi River). In recent decades, however, use of the catch-all downtown adjective to describe neighborhoods downriver from Canal Street has largely ceased, having been replaced in usage by individual neighborhood names (such as Bywater).
Originally developed as the largely-residential Faubourg Ste. Marie (English: St. Mary Suburb) in the late 18th century, the modern Central Business District is today a dynamic, mixed-use neighborhood, the home of professional offices in skyscrapers, specialty and neighborhood retail stores, numerous restaurants and clubs, and thousands of residents inhabiting restored, historic commercial and industrial buildings.
