No trip to Cancun or the Riviera Maya is complete without a visit to a cenote. What is a cenote? Well, in short, it is a sinkhole that has exposed a section of the underground river systems that run throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. Cenotes are unique to this region of the world and were important places for the ancient Mayans. They should also be considered as an important part of your next vacation.
