Cajun Moon [Crescent Mix] - Randy Crawford (1995)
Cajun Moon was one of the singles from the 1995 album Naked And True by American jazz and R&B singer Randy Crawford (born Veronica Crawford, February 18, 1952, in Macon, Georgia). The song, a cover of 1974's Cajun Moon by Grammy Award-winning American blues singer JJ Cale, was a moderate crossover hit for Crawford, peaking at #65 on the U.S. R&B chart in 1996. Growing up in Cincinnati, Crawford first performed at club gigs from Ohio to Saint-Tropez, but made her name in the mid-1970s in New York City, where she sang with jazzmen George Benson, Jaco Pastorius and Cannonball Adderley. Adderley invited her to sing on his album, Big Man in 1975. In 1978, former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett had Crawford perform on his second solo album Please Don't Touch. Hackett discovered Crawford in a Chicago club and was so impressed that he had her sing vocals on Hoping Love Will Last. She led R&B veterans The Crusaders on the transatlantic hit Street Life (1979), which stayed atop the U.S. jazz chart for twenty weeks and has since become both a rare groove and disco classic. She moved to Warner Brothers Records and after Street Life, recorded and toured Europe with The Crusaders. Crawford was named the 'Most Outstanding Performer' at the 1980 Tokyo Music Festival. She remained with Warner Brothers throughout the early 1990s, but was unable to score either a big R&B hit or major crossover success, despite having one of the most readily identifiable voices and distinctive approaches of any contemporary female vocalist. She was much more successful in Europe than in the United States, where she had multiple top five hits. After experiencing difficulties with America record companies who didn't know what to do with an artist who wasn't limited to either the jazz or R&B domain, Crawford got off to a new start in Europe. There, the singer had instant success with the album Naked And True, released by WEA Germany. Produced by Germany-based Ralf Droesemeyer, Naked And True brought Crawford back to her 1970s jazzy soul roots. The album included George Benson's Give Me The Night, and confirmed her soul heritage by featuring Funkadelicists Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell and the Fred Wesley Horns. The initial Naked And True tour took Crawford through Europe and South America. The 'import' record, especially Crawford's haunting interpretation of JJ Cale's song Cajun Moon, soon won the hearts of jazz and adult contemporary station listeners in the United States. As a result, the Atlantic label Bluemoon reissued and distributed the album in the United States. The album remained in the top ten on R&R's NAC album charts for 20 consecutive weeks. Over the years since, Crawford has sung with Bootsy Collins, Johnny Bristol, Quincy Jones, Al Jarreau, Rick Springfield, Steve Hackett, and Joe Sample, amongst others. Born Veronica Randy Crawford, February 18, 1952, Macon (Georgia), Randy Crawford is an American jazz and R&B singer. She has been more successful in Europe than in the United States, where she has not entered the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist.[1] She has had multiple top five hits in the UK, including her 1980 number 2 hit, One Day I'll Fly Away. Despite her American nationality, she won Best British Female Solo Artist in recognition of her popularity in the UK at the 1982 Brit Awards. Crawford first polished her craft at club gigs from Cincinnati to St. Tropez, but made her name in mid 1970s in New York, where she sang with jazzmen George Benson on his album Big Man 1975) and Cannonball Adderley. She then led Jazz veterans The Crusaders on the transatlantic big hit Street Life (1979). Her follow up solo efforts included 'One Day I'll Fly Away (1980, Grand Prize for Tokyo International Music Festival); You Might Need Somebody (1981); and Rainy Night In Georgia (1981); which all became soul standards. Secret Combination (1981) stayed on the Billboard album chart for 60 weeks, after which her profile dipped, despite a return to the Top 10 with Almaz in (1986). Naked And True (1995) brought Crawford back to her roots: it included Benson's Give Me The Night, and confirmed her soul heritage by featuring Funkadelicists Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell and The Fred Wesley Horns. But she enjoyed her highest profile of the decade when rising starlet Shola Ama had a worldwide hit with a cover of You Might Need Somebody in 1997. She still continues to make great R&B hits and performs on various Jazz Festivals around the world.

Tallahassee () is the capital city of the U.S. state of Florida. It is the county seat and only incorporated municipality in Leon County. Tallahassee became the capital of Florida, then the Florida Territory, in 1824. In 2017, the population was 191,049, making it the 7th-largest city in the U.S state of Florida, and the 126th-largest city in the United States. The population of the Tallahassee metropolitan area was 382,627 as of 2017. Tallahassee is the largest city in the Florida Panhandle region, and the main center for trade and agriculture in the Florida Big Bend and Southwest Georgia regions.
Tallahassee is home to Florida State University, ranked the nation's twenty-sixth best public university by U.S. News & World Report. It is also home to Florida A&M University, the fifth-largest historically black university by total enrollment. Tallahassee Community College is a large state college that serves mainly as a feeder school to Florida State and Florida A&M. Tallahassee qualifies as a significant college town, with a student population exceeding 70,000.As the capital, Tallahassee is the site of the Florida State Capitol, Supreme Court of Florida, Florida Governor's Mansion, and nearly 30 state agency headquarters. The city is also known for its large number of law firms, lobbying organizations, trade associations and professional associations, including the Florida Bar and the Florida Chamber of Commerce. It is a recognized regional center for scientific research, and home to the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. In 2015, Tallahassee was awarded the All-American City Award by the National Civic League for the second time.
