The Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, or also called the Burgos Lighthouse, was established during the Spanish colonial era in the Philippines. It was first lit on March 30, 1892. Now it serves as a popular touristic attraction and also includes a small museum.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse | Burgos, Ilocos Norte
Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, also known as Burgos Lighthouse, is a cultural heritage structure in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, that was established during the Spanish Colonial period in the Philippines. The lighthouse was first lit on March 30, 1892, and is set high on Vigia de Nagpartian Hill overlooking the scenic Cape Bojeador where early galleons used to sail by. After over 100 years, it still functions and serves ships that enter the Philippine Archipelago from the north and guide them safely away from the rocky coast of the town.
The light marks the northwestern-most point in Luzon. The northeastern-most being Cape Engaño Lighthouse on Palaui Island, Santa Ana, Cagayan.
The 66-foot-tall (20 m) octagonal stone tower, the most prominent structure in the vicinity, can be seen from as far away as Pasuquin town in the south and Bangui on the east on a clear day. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the highest-elevated nor tallest lighthouse in the Philippines. But the highest elevated still original and active Spanish era lighthouse in the country. Corregidor Lighthouse is higher at over 600 feet (180 m), and among the Spanish Colonial lighthouses, the tower of Cape Melville Lighthouse is the tallest at 90 feet (27 m). In Mindoro Strait, the recently erected modern tower at the Apo Reef Light Station rises to a height of 110 feet (34 m).

Here I am at the lighthouse on Cape Bojeador in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Designed by the Engineer Magin Pers y Pers, it was completed in 1892.
Next time you find yourself in Ilocos province you should definitely visit this place. On this day, I was lucky enough to climb up to the very top of the lighthouse and get a guided tour.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse - Precious Adventures
Being the tallest and the oldest lighthouse in the Philippines, it has become one of the famous historical landmarks in the province of Ilocos Norte. It was built in 1892 and is still functioning to date.
They call it Faro Cabo Cape Bojeador, as it stands majestically on a hill overlooking the West Philippine Sea, located in the town of Burgos, approximately 35 kilometres north of the City of Laoag.

Our recent trip to the northern provinces of the Philippines, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. One of the best places to visit with its white sand beaches, crystal clear sea, Spanish Colonial buildings and the food, unique to this part of the country.
How to get there:
Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte are bothe accessible by land and air transportation from Manila.
For land transportation, buses going to Vigan, Paoay and Pagudpud take the same highway route, with Pagudpud at the northern tip of the destination. Bus terminals in Pasay City and Quezon City have daily trips to these destinations. Private vans can also be rented but prepare to pay a higher fee compared to the buses.
For air transportation, there are daily flights to Laoag, Ilocos Norte from NAIA airport in Manila. From Laoag, vans for rent are available going to these destinations. Public transportation by bus or jeepney are also available.
These locations are well-known. Any locals you ask for directions can guide you to where you want to go.
