The Capital City/8th Street Market in Downtown Boise
The Cap City market, or 8th Street Market as it's commonly referred to has been a Boise staple since 1994. It started pretty small, but it's grown to include almost 140 vendors during peak season and continues into late fall. There are SO many different kinds of vendors there...beekeepers selling honey and pollen, handmade soaps and bath bombs, bakeries, nitro brew coffee stands, buffalo meat, jalapeno lemonade, small batch wineries, glass blowers, leather workers, tamales, Himalayan food, japanese noodles and dumplings, ice cream stands, photographers, painters, etc. I think you get the idea. :)

Boise's World Refugee Day - June 2015
Every year many people in Boise enjoy ethnic food, performances, artisans, and a citizenship ceremony at the internationally-celebrated World Refugee Day. Boise's World Refugee Day is an opportunity for the community to come together with our newest Idahoans to celebrate their international cultures and contributions to our society. The event is free to the public and is put on by the Idaho Office for Refugees and local resettlement agencies, with support from the Capital City Public Market.
Art and Economic Development in Boise, Idaho
I interviewed Dr. Amanda Ashley from Boise State University, as well as Karen Bubb and Karl LeClair from the City of Boise, and Patrick Boel from LocalConstruct about how art is being used to help influence culture and drive economic development in Boise. This video was a solo project, and I am responsible for all the content within. The topic is about the impact which art has on building our community and enhancing our regional culture.
This is a project completed for my Media seminar class at Boise State University in Spring of 2019.
I have no association with the City of Boise or LocalConstruct, and this video was initiated out of personal interest in the topic, and as a capstone senior project to showcase my skills learned over my time at Boise State University.

Boise, Idaho, is a city dedicated to sustaining the harmony between nature and culture. Nicknamed the 'City of Trees,' Boise is the state’s largest and the capital city. Tourists should head straight for the Greenbelt path, the ultimate way to experience Boise's best. The path, most of it paved, runs along 23 scenic miles of the Boise River. While it gives walkers and joggers a great place to stretch their legs, the Greenbelt is also the center of a larger system of 15 parks, the Warm Springs Golf Course and the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center. Greenbelt hikers and bikers can access the expansive Ridge to Rivers trail system, with more than 125 miles of paths among valleys and foothills. The Greenbelt also passes a major cultural destination: Julia Davis Park. Here, Boise tourists can venture into the animal kingdom at Zoo Boise, home to 200 animals across 80 species. The zoo’s neighbor, the Boise Art Museum, has a permanent collection of more than 3,000 works. Also nearby, the Idaho State Historical Museum chronicles life in the region during the prehistoric era and early settlements, with fascinating details about local fur trading and the 1860 gold rush. Across from the art museum, visit Boise’s tribute to human diversity at the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial before crossing over the 8th Street Bridge. Follow the street northeast to Grove Street into Boise’s downtown ('BoDo' to locals) and its epicenter, the Grove. This open-air public square hosts a summer concert series and the Capital City Public Market, a popular place to buy locally produced food from April to December. For lunch or dinner, try Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery. Named for an old sailors’ term for 'cocktail,' Bardenay is known as the nation’s first distillery-restaurant. List of all video credits is located here Better Qualified works closely with collections attorneys to comb through all of your 3rd party collections in search of violations. When an account is sold to a 3rd party, often times the collection company will violate set regulations. This leaves the consumer paying more than they have to or paying for something that isn’t theirs. Our collection attorneys have not only gotten 3rd party and medical collections removed from our clients reports, but have also succeeded in obtaining cash settlements for some clients as well. This company also ensures that their clients are maximizing the benefits that are associated with higher credit scores. The accounts managers examine client’s current products and services that are directly related to their credit scores. Better Qualified team knows how important it is to have the best credit possible. Consumer credit allows consumers to get an advance or loan to spend money on products or services for family, household or personal uses repaid at a specified future date. Consumer credit includes purchases obtained with credit cards, lines of credit and some loans. The main advantage of consumer credit is that consumers can purchase goods and services and pay for them later. Consumers can purchase items they need when their funds are low. Consumer credit offers a backup form of payment and one monthly payment. Better Qualified offers the perfect credit management of customer’s credit score. It can determine their interest rates, insurance premiums and dream job.
This subsector of Finance and insurance called Monetary authorities comprises establishments primarily engaged in performing central banking functions, such as issuing currency (paper money); managing the nation's money supply and international reserves; overseeing payment, clearing and settlement systems; holding deposits that represent the reserves of other banks and institutions; and acting as fiscal agent for the federal government. The institutional arrangements for performing these functions and for conducting monetary policy may differ among the countries. In Canada, these functions are performed by the Bank of Canada, in Mexico by the Bank of Mexico, and in the United States by the Federal Reserve Banks and their branches. This video is Part Two in Demystifying Credit Videos. Next myth that should be demystified is that The burden of proof rests with the consumer to validate information contained on their credit report. The opposite is true under the fair credit reporting act; both federal and various state laws require that the credit agencies bear the burden. The most popular myth that exist is that consumer cannot restore his credit on his own. You can do it yourself (just like you can represent yourself as an attorney in a court of law). But you can also allow experienced professionals to educate you and assist you in restoring your credit profile. So, Better Qualified is here to help you and to guide you through..

View From The Top Of Table Rock, Idaho 4-19-2015
I decided to take a couple short videos to show my perspective from Table Rock, Idaho. There are large crosses on the hills around here, so I know that they respect my freedom of religion.Overlooking Boise, Idaho this location gives a great view of the entire valley.
The Site was sacred to the Shoshone Bannock natives long before the encroachment of settlers. These aboriginal peoples held the rock sacred and occupied it in a number of fashions. They used it as a ceremonial meeting and healing ritual ground, and also took use of its surrounding hot springs, many of which have since dried up. A number of artifacts have been found nearby in the course of the construction of surrounding housing developments, including a number of obsidian knives. The site and its surrounding locale was also used as a burial grounds.
To this date, no honor or protection of any type is offered to the site, and it continues to be heavily vandalized as its sacred history is not mentioned on any plaque or signage of any type. Further archeological significance is being seriously undermined as a result of this continuing widespread vandalism. Countless broken bottles and trash items litter the ground, and the butte itself is utterly covered in spray paint.
The Cross
The cross that stands on top of Table Rock has had a volatile 60 plus year history.
The controversy began in 1956 when the Junior Chamber of Commerce, or Jaycees, built the cross on what was then Department of Correction land. At the time the Department of Correction owned a 109-acre tract that included the bluff of Table Rock.
On June 10, 1970, the Jaycees submitted a requested the Board of Correction for the purchase a 44-foot-by-70-foot parcel of land that would surround the land around the cross.
On June 25, 1971, the Correction Board deemed the desired land surplus and turned it over to the Idaho Department of Lands. Idaho Board of Land Commissioners records reveal that because the requested land was on the very edge of Table Rock’s ledge, the Board of Correction did not feel it would negatively impact the surrounding state owned land.
Sale of the land was the responsibility of the Land Board. In November 1971, an auction was held for the sale of the land with the appraised price of $100.00. The sale of the land was advertised in the The Idaho Statesman weekly for a period of six weeks. The Jaycees and a man named Paul Kimball signed up as bidders, though Kimball did not actually place a bid.
The land was sold to the Jaycees for $100.00. From then on the cross has been considered to be on private property.
On December 16, 1994, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) penned a letter to the Land Board asserting the sale of the parcel of land was both unconstitutional and a violation of state law. The letter stated the Land Board had taken the liberty of refusing bids other than the Jaycee’s. It also accused the Land Board of restricting media coverage, which they claimed had left the general public in the dark. In March 1995 Land Board members voted and rejected the ACLU’s request to void the sale.
Controversy escalated in November 1999 when (self-described) atheist human rights activist Rob Sherman gave a speech at BSU claiming the Jaycees were a “bunch of criminals” and threatened action to bring the cross down. The dispute resulted in over 10,000 people participating in a march from the Boise Depot to the Statehouse to save the Table Rock cross.

Finance and Insurance sector also includes monetary authorities charged with monetary control. The sub-sectors, industry groups and industries within the NAICS Finance and Insurance sector are defined on the basis of their unique production processes. As with all industries, the production processes are distinguished by their use of specialized human resources and specialized physical capital. In addition, the way in which these establishments acquire and allocate financial capital, their source of funds, and the use of those funds provides a third basis for distinguishing characteristics of the production process. For instance, the production process in raising funds through deposit-taking is different from the process of raising funds in bond or money markets. The process of making loans to individuals also requires different production processes than does the creation of investment pools or the underwriting of securities. 2019 State of the City address - Salt Lake City Mayor, Jackie Biskupski
Salt Lake City Mayor addresses housing, transit, clean air, and public safety in 2019 State of the City address
Tonight, Salt Lake City Mayor, Mayor Jackie Biskupski, addressed the challenges, successes, and opportunities facing the Capital City. Addressing her constituents in “the commons” at East High School, Mayor Biskupski spoke openly and honestly about the direction in which she and her team are stearing this City.
Mayor Biskupski opened her speech by acknowledging what got her into politics in the first place – the disenfranchisement of students trying to start a Gay-Straight Alliance Club at their high school. She said, “While those students set out to create a safe space for themselves and their friends, what they accomplished was nothing less than a cultural shift in the State of Utah.”
Mayor Biskupski went on to discuss one of her top priorities: affordable housing, “Since 2016, we have added nearly 2,500 affordable units into Salt Lake City’s housing pipeline, including 400 units of transitional housing to help move people out of homelessness.” She explained the impact that the expansion of affordable housing has on her constituents through Growing SLC programs like House 20.
Since Mayor Biskupski took office in 2016, the crime rate in Salt Lake City has decreased, she said, “you are safer in this City today than you were three years ago. The numbers are dramatic. A three-year, 25% decrease in crime citywide. This drop in crime is seen in every district of the city. This means, when compared to 2015, there were 6,000 fewer crimes.”
Regarding the 100% clean energy plan Salt Lake City committed to in 2016, Mayor Biskupski was confident in Salt Lake City’s ability to meet its 2020 goal. “Last year, the Salt Lake City Fire Department made history by opening the first two net-zero fire stations in the country,” she said. “Chief Lieb is also committed to examining the overall fuel efficiency of the Fire Department fleet. He is providing his support staff with clean vehicles, while investing in new technology to reduce the carbon output of the department’s larger equipment.”
Biskupski identifies improved transit as the key to cleaning the air and announces citywide plans to expand residents’ access, “Commuters on three key lines along 2nd South, 1st South, and right here at 9th South will see extended hours, more frequent service, and at long last, Sunday service.” She also highlighted that, “from expanding bus service to working cooperatively with companies like UTA, Lyft, Uber, GreenBike, Bird and Lime, Salt Lake City is committed to exploring every idea to help people move around in a greener way.”
Mayor Biskupski is optimistic about Salt Lake City’s future, and for good reason. From being chosen by the United Nations to host the world at their 68th Civil Society Conference, to having been selected by the Unites States Olympic Committee to hold a future Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Salt Lake City is making a name for itself, internationally.
