In this vlog, we pick up right where we left off in the last vlog. After spending most of our afternoon in Moscow's Red Square we made our way towards the Bolshoy Ustyinskiy Bridge area where there was a stop for boats to do the Moscow River boat tour.
I've said it before, when you're press for time and want to do some sightseeing, either a city bus tour or a boat tour is a great way to get it done.
Enjoy and thanks for watching!

The Peter the Great Statue is a 98-metre-high monument to Peter the Great, located at the western confluence of the Moskva River and the Vodootvodny Canal in central Moscow. It was designed by the Georgian designer Zurab Tsereteli to commemorate 300 years of the Russian Navy, which Peter the Great established. It was erected in 1997 and is the eighth tallest statue in the world. It weighs around 1,000 tons and contains 600 tons of stainless steel, bronze and copper.
Since its inception, the statue has courted controversy. In November 2008, it was voted the tenth ugliest building in the world by Virtual Tourist. In 2010, it was included in a list of the world's ugliest statues by Foreign Policy magazine. Lonely Planet commented: Questions of taste aside, Muscovites were sceptical about the whole idea: why pay tribute to Peter the Great, who loathed Moscow and moved the capital to St Petersburg?
The designer Zurab Tsereteli is known as a friend and favorite of Moscow's former Mayor Yury Luzhkov, and the artist received a number of municipal art commissions under his patronage, such as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Manege Square ensemble and the War Memorial Complex on Poklonnaya Gora. In October 2010, following Luzhkov's departure from office, Moscow authorities, reportedly keen to get rid of the Peter the Great statue, offered to relocate it to Saint Petersburg, but this offer was refused by the city. Authorities in Arkhangelsk and Petrozavodsk have offered to accept the monument.
The statue is allegedly based on a design originally intended to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the first voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1992. When an American customer for the project could not be found, it was repurposed with a Russian theme. Tsereteli denies this story. A separate, equally colossal statue of Columbus by the same designer eventually wound up in Puerto Rico after being rejected by various US cities, but, as of 2011, remains disassembled.

The Moscow Kremlin (Russian: Моско́вский Кремль, tr. Moskovskiy Kreml; IPA: [mɐˈskofskʲɪj krʲemlʲ]), usually referred to as simply the Kremlin, is a historic fortified complex at the heart of Moscow, overlooking the Moskva River to the south, Saint Basil's Cathedral and Red Square to the east, and the Alexander Garden to the west. It is the best known of kremlins (Russian citadels) and includes five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers. The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.
The name Kremlin means fortress inside a city, and is often used as a metonym to refer to the government of the Russian Federation in a similar sense to how the White House is used to refer to the Executive Office of the President of the United States. Indeed, even the Russian president's official website is Kremlin.ru. It had previously been used to refer to the government of the Soviet Union (1922–1991) and its highest members (such as general secretaries, premiers, presidents, ministers, and commissars). Kremlinology refers to the study of Soviet and Russian politics.

Red Square in Moscow, Russia (February, 2013). Real Russia ep.27
After intereview for RT channel, we stayed for three more days in Moscow that to film more episodes from the capital of Russia.
If Moscow is the heart of Russia, then the Red Square is the heart of Moscow. It's definitely the first place the tourist must visit in Moscow. It looks absolutely amazing and beautiful even at winter time.
The Red Square surrounded by Moscow's Kremlin and Spasskaya Tower and Saint Basil's Cathedral, Historical State Museum and GUM department store. There also Mausoleum of Lenin, but it was totally hidden because of reconstruction.

Russia River Cruising with Scenic | David Whitehill in Moscow - Part 1
For more information visit:
Read below for full transcript:
For many Australians I'm sure that Russia doesn't immediately jump into your top five countries to visit, so over this week with a bit of help from my friends at Scenic Tours I am going to scour this land and show you why the old USSR is starting to turn heads.
We're kicking off our Russian journey in the capital of Moscow the former Soviet state has opened its doors to the world and tourism has stepped on in.
Being the largest country on Earth is a bit of a drawcard of course.
The Russians have had their fair share of conflicts and when they’re victorious they do like to show off a little and build enormous monuments.
Scattered throughout Moscow are some pretty impressive tributes and Scenic make sure you take in all the iconic sites including the infamous Red Square.
Red Square is quite a popular places isn’t it?
Guide: “yes it is visited by lots of tourists locals just love it they come here to celebrate new year, well that is the heart of the city of Moscow. It was known as Trade Square in the 15th century because here we have the market and from the 17th century gorgeous present claim red square which meant beautiful”
The square proudly boasts one of Moscow’s most famous sites Saint Basil's Cathedral. Built to outshine any church of its time it stands as a testament to Ivan the terrible and it definitely gets its fair share of photos.
But there's something that you need to know about this place, see when Ivan the Terrible unfortunate name apparently a lovely guy came up with the concept of this magnificent structure behind me he was so impressed with the finished product that he called the architects in
and ask them if there was any way they could replicate what they had done?
Of course they said yes so to stop them Mr. Terrible had them blinded. Ah the sheer joys of working in the 16th century
In a city that’s home to more than 12 million people you can expect the traffic to be a little hectic and I can tell you right now that Moscow sometimes comes to a complete standstill so if you want the smart way to check out all the highlights you got to take to the water ways.
Many of the city's highlights are dotted along the canals and the cruise gives you just enough time to get ready for the Moscow Metro.
Some Scenic adventurers, nine million locals and close to 10,000 trains a day, this is serious business.
One of Moscow's must-sees is also the office of the Russian president welcome to the Kremlin.
Russia has been a superpower for centuries and when you get here you start to get the feeling that they're slowly opening up their secrets to the rest of the world.
I mean who thought that you would ever have the chance to stand here in the center square of the Kremlin.
But this is the new Russia and we have Scenic on our side, these walls once housed the most important secrets of one of the most influential countries in the world.
Well when in Russia.
Russia is much more than Moscow and St. Petersburg - Tver is a place to see
Russian cities series - Tver is located halfway between Moscow and St. Petersburg, which makes this cozy provincial town a popular destination for weekend trips.
This small town, which traces its history back to 1135, offers a rich sightseeing program that includes medieval churches and late 18th-century palaces, as well as wooden houses with unique carved exteriors.
Central Tver resembles St. Petersburg, since the architectural ensembles were designed by famous Russian and Italian architects of the 18th century, who worked in Russia's northern capital at that time. The town's once splendid palaces and estates were designed by Carlo Rossi, Bartolomeo Rastrelli, Vasily Stasov and other leading figures.
Tver is situated on the banks of the Volga river − a strategic location that made it a major trade center in the Middle Ages. Nowadays, cruise boats take travelers from Tver to various destinations, including Uglich, Kostroma and Kazan, which lies over 600 miles away.

euronews Life - Moscow along the river
In the final episode of our journey around Russia, euronews takes a trip through the capital along the Moskva river.
Moscow was named after the river in the 12th century, and today a short boat trip along it can still offer some of the city's most scenic views, enabling the traveller to capture the mix of history and modernity in 'the city that never stops.'
Passenger boats are one of the most pleasant ways of discovering Moscow's landmarks - when the weather is good. The Kremlin, the main seat of political power is a fortified complex at the heart of Moscow which overlooks the river. It is an unavoidable attraction for anyone visiting the city centre.
Golden domes of Orthodox Christian cathedrals are another iconic landmark, with some of the most important religious sites located by the river shores.
Novodevichy Convent, one of Moscow's World Heritage Sites, looks much the same as it did in the 17th century, although in the Soviet era, the monastery buildings were turned into apartments and museums. In the 1990s nuns returned to the convent and religious services resumed.

Floating bridge
The floating bridge is a thin air structure in the form of the letter V with a large outward extension above the water. It towers over the embankment and seems to hover over the Moscow River.
The bridge is unique in Russia: it is a 70 meter structure without a single support. The bearing structure of the bridge is made of concrete, and the decorative elements are made of metal. The deck is wooden; the construction withstands a load of 240 tons corresponding to three to four thousand people.
For the security of visitors and residents, high fences are installed so that no one can climb or jump over the sides of the bridge.
Moscow 4k, Russia - Walking tour - Kuznetskiy Most & Kamergerskiy
Kuznetsky Most is a street in central Moscow, that runs from Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street to Lubyanka Street. The name, literally Blacksmith's Bridge, refers to the 18th-century bridge over Neglinnaya River, now running in an underground tunnel, and a nearby foundry and the settlement of its workers. Since the middle of the 18th century, Kuznetsky Most was the street of fashion and expensive shopping.

Kamergersky lane. This pedestrian lane connecting Tverskaya Street with Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street bore the names of Kvasnoy, Yegoryevsky, Gazetny and Kuznetsky during different epochs. At the end of the 19th century, it was inhabited by chamberlains, senior royal officials, and thus came to be called Kamergersky. The lane was named Khudozhestvennogo Teatra (Art Theatre) Passage during the Soviet era. It was named for the Moscow Art Theatre, which was located nearby.
