We are so delighted that Japanese Curry House CoCo Ichibanya finally opened its first branch in Manila on March 1, 2015 at the new Estancia Mall in Capitol Commons. Curry House CoCo Ichibanya was started in Ichinomiya Aichi Japan in 1982 and is the largest curry restaurant chain in the world with close to 1400 branches in 10 countries and listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The master franchise is held by Hubert Young of UCC Philippines and we can say that the execution and flavors were authentic and brings back memories of our last Osaka trip. Expect a rich, spicy and customizable Japanese curry experience, aside from their generous serving of curry they cook their Japanese rice perfectly, grains are separate and fluffy. We highly recommend the Pork Cutlet and Vegetables Curry and the Creamy Mushroom Omelete Curry. Make sure to add on the cute Japanese sausages which have a nice bite. For dessert try their coffee jelly which is out of this world. Authentic Japanese curry is here to stay, expect more branches of Coco Ichibanya to open at One Rockwell, Connecticut Street Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City in the next few months!
