Captain Ron's Swamp Tour on Caddo Lake
My son and I took Captain Ron's Swamp Tour on beautiful primeval Caddo Lake at the Texas-Louisiana border during July 2017. Caddo Lake is Texas' only natural lake and was formed thousands of years ago. Some of the Cypress trees are 500 years old or more.
Natural Cypress Water Forest Tour, not swamp, of Caddo Lake Texas
Here are excerpts from a pontoon boat tour of Caddo Lake's cypress forest embedded in water. The cypress trees have lots of Spanish Moss hanging from their limbs. This a natural lake. The tour is Captain Ron's Swamp Tour, located between Karnack and Uncertain Texas.

Touring Caddo Lake and Swamps
We took the girls on a tour of Caddo Lake in East Texas on one of our road trips from Texas to Louisiana. It was a good time, and I am just getting around to posting the video from a couple of months ago.
Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them.

Stilt Houses, Boating and Activity On Big Cypress Bayou In Caddo Lake
The first part of this video will show various boating activity on a Saturday following several weekends of rainy and stormy weather. The sun was out and the temperature was great. Residents and visitors were stir-crazy and out in numbers, enjoying the good weather. This takes place on Big Cypress Bayou which is part of Caddo Lake, a natural lake that is partly in Louisiana and partly in Texas. This part is between Karnack and Uncertain Texas.
The second part of the video will show you all of the stilt houses along the bayou up to the point where we left it to go into a narrow channel. The pontoon boat scenes were on Captain Ron's Bayou Tours. Somewhere in here I caught on camera, the captain sneaking a kiss from his first mate.
Some shots toward the end are a little out of focus as most Canon cameras are impossible to hold focus on video.

A tour of Caddo lake's enchanted Cypress Forest
This video is about Caddo lake---a lake that spans the Texas/Louisiana border, not far from Texarkana.
Caddo lake is Texas' only natural lake and a cypress forest in the midst of the lake creates a visual wonder which one never tires of seeing.
The translucence of the spanish moss and the immense cypress trees seem to transform in the sunlight all throughout the day, creating a never ending array of primordial mystery, beauty and visual delight.
The lake footage was shot with a Canon C300 Mk II, all hand held with Canon STM lenses, edited on FCPX and color graded with Color Finale. the opening footage of trees, flowers and plants were shot on a Canon C100 Mk II--all footage was shot in C-Log gamma, rec. 709.
Special thanks to Captain Ronald Gibbs who provides terrific tours of the lake with fascinating historical commentary delivered with a Texas-style homespun delivery to the delight of thousands who come every year.
Caddo Lake State Park Karnack, Texas - On the Water Paddling Trails Video 2
This is the second in a series of videos about Caddo Lake State Park, Texas. In this episode we explore the lake and swamps in our canoe. This place is on our Real Texas recommended list as a must see. Do not miss the beauty of this park! Canoe and kayak rentals are available at the park .... call the park office to ensure renting watercraft is possible on your expected visit dates. All rentals were closed when we were at the park, of course we were there in the off season .....
Caddo Lake is located in far east texas and far Northwestern Louisiana. The lake actually straddles the border. The state park was built in the depression era by the Civilian Conservation Corps and their legacy is seen everywhere in the park. There are several intact structures that they left behind.
Caddo Lake is the largest cypress swamp in the south and possibly the largest in the United States. Caddo Lake is also the only Natural lake in the state of Texas. There are backwaters, bayous and sloughs to explore, everywhere. This video is simply a drive to and through the park to our campsite, later videos we will explore the trails and CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) built structures. We will also explore the waters out in the bayou, as well as, in the swamps and ponds. Caddo Lake State Park, Texas is one of the most picturesque parks we have been to, second only to Enchanted Rock. WE will have to go back when there is a little more green color in the cypress trees.

Found 8mm Home Movie Film 1950's Caddo Lake Texas FLY-N-FISH Lodge Airport
This is an 8mm home movie color film footage from the 1950's from Caddo Lake Texas. The film starts with two men heading to the car, but quickly we see a single-engine airplane. Then several more and a runway are seen and it becomes clear this is an airport. It's called the Fly 'N Fish. The film then cuts to footage of pretty women in a boat racing along the waterway. The bayous of Caddo Lake shorelines are seen along with more footage of the other passengers in the boat. Back on land, a single man stands with several cattle grazing in the sandy soil. Then to supper or dinner time with some freshly caught fish grilled up out on the open-air pit. The film ends with views of an unknown small town.
