Carolina Brewing Company, 20th Anniversary
Carolina Brewing Company in Holly Springs was the great idea of two brothers, John and Greg Shuck, and a friend, Joe Zonin. In this new NCBeerBuzz episode, we talk to Joe on the occasion of CBC’s 20th anniversary and catch up on a little of the history of CBC and a lot of the current plans for expansion and updating of the brand, facility, and product availability. For the first time ever, they canned up a bunch of their famous Pale Ale – sporting the new logo! CBC is growing with the opening of the Greensboro/Winston Salem market and new partner Caffey Distributing. And, they made a West Coast Style IPA and it has gone crazy so look for it in bars, restaurants, and bottle shops on draft.
2014 Beericana Beer Festival, Holly Springs NC
Beericana is a premiere N.C. craft beer festival on September 27th, featuring breweries from 919, across the state and beyond, blended with great Americana/Bluegrass music and local food trucks. Musical performances include Lynda Dawson and Pattie Hopkins of The Kickin Grass Band, Dark Water Rising and Skinny Bag of Sugar. VIP admission begins at noon; General admission opens at 1:30pm.

In this new episode of the NCBeerBuzz, we visit our first beer distribution company when we sit down with Kelly O'Gorman, Craft Brands Development Manager (and Certified Cicerone®) and Lee Aldrich, Craft Brands Representative (and Certified Cicerone®) for R.A. Jeffreys Distributing Co. in the Raleigh facility. Founded in 1890, Jeffreys was originally a business that bought and sold produce, cottonseed, flower seed, vegetable seed, chickens and eggs. In 1933, Congress repealed the Prohibition Act and Anheuser-Busch granted Jeffreys the distribution rights to Budweiser and other brands distributed by Anheuser-Busch. Jeffreys is one of the five largest Anheuser-Busch wholesalers by volume in the United States. As the oldest family-owned beer distributor in NC, Jeffreys continues to grow by adding new product lines, including many craft beers produced here in North Carolina.
