Caroline Sheen Performing 'A Spoonful of Sugar*' at WestEndLIVE 2014.
A Spoonful of Sugar from Walt Disney's 'Mary Poppins'.
London, United Kingdom.
A Spoonful Of Sugar is a song from Walt Disney's 1964 film & the musical versions of Mary Poppins, composed by Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman.
The song is about how if you make a chore a game, it can be fun.
A Spoonful of Sugar (From Mary Poppins) Lyrics:
In every job that must be done
There is an element of fun
you find the fun and snap!
The job's a game
And every task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
A lark! A spree!
It's very clear to see
That a...

The medicine go dow-own
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

Has very little time to rest
While gathering his
Bits of twine and twig
Though quite intent in his pursuit
He has a merry tune to toot
He knows a song
Will move the job along

Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down

★ Ellinor Bjurström: and ★ Caroline Roxy: discuss what to do and where to go in London in an essential guide to the UK’s capital city.
Ellinor: Hello, today we are in London, with that cute little British accent.
Caroline: I love the accent so much, I think it’s gorgeous. So,
Ellinor, what’s the most unique thing about London?
Ellinor: I think it’s how London is built wide and not high, I think it’s very special.
Caroline: There are so few tall buildings, it’s just places like the London Eye and Big Ben. And there are the red buses, of course, they’re everywhere, and the telephone booths, they’re like the old ones, they’re also red.
Ellinor: Yeah, red is like the London color.
Caroline: It must be. What places do you really need to go to? Do like Notting Hill?
Ellinor: Yeah, I think Notting Hill, because of the movie. There are all these cozy cafés, and they’re really nice.
Caroline: Then, of course, Big Ben. You know, it’s not actually called Big Ben.
Ellinor: What is it called?
Caroline: I don’t really know, but it’s an interesting fact. Then, of course, there’s this great big park, Hyde Park, they have a lake there and a lot of students go there to play different sports.
Ellinor: It’s really nice. They also have a Winter Wonderland there.
Caroline: That is a big thing in London at Christmas time. It’s big there. People compete over who’s got the best lighting and Christmas tree. And there’s this great shopping mall called Harrods. They have everything there. There are restaurants underground…
Ellinor: Shoes, bags, clothes…
Caroline: Everything. If you want to buy any high-end fashion items, you go to Oxford Street but if you are on a budget go to Bond Street.
Ellinor: Or Primark. You never leave Primark with just one bag. You always leave with like five bags, because it’s so cheap, and there are nice things there too. That’s my favorite place in London I think.
Caroline: It is nice. They are also really on soccer, so you can go and see a game.
Ellinor: That would be really cool. If you’d like to do something fun, you can go to Madam Tussauds.
Caroline: You can meet all the celebrities.
Ellinor: They look so real. You can take photos with them and be like “Wow! I met Kim Kardashian today!” And London is also famous for all the pubs.
Caroline: You can drink beer and eat fish and chips. But if you want somewhere a bit posher you can go to Chelsea or Mayfair.
Ellinor: Personally I prefer pubs actually. It’s a London thing, drink some beer, get a bit drunk.
Caroline: Another thing you can do is go to Camden Market. It’s a market that’s actually built in horse stables. It’s very cool.
Ellinor: It’s beautiful and cheap and great fun environment.
Caroline: A good thing to remember when you visit London is that you are expected to leave a 10 per cent tip for services. It’s a very common thing to do. Also when you’re traveling around, it’s best to avoid the metro. It can be quite a confusing way to travel around, and it can be slow. London’s not that big a city so you can walk.
Ellinor: Sure you can walk. But if you take the subway be aware that it takes a long time.
Caroline: In England, they have a monarchy, and they have a queen and she’s lives in Buckingham Palace. It’s breathtaking.
Ellinor: If you’re lucky you might get a glimpse of her.
Caroline: Two things you really can’t miss when you go to London are of course Big Ben and the London Eye. Both of them are really impressive.
Ellinor: The London Eye is almost next to Big Ben. You can go up and see all of London from the top.
Caroline: If you’re into museums they have two really big ones, the British Museum, and the Natural History Museum.
Ellinor: Both of them are magnificent. There are also lots of musicals. They are very into them in London too.
Caroline: I hope you have learned something from this and that you will have a really good time in London. The easiest way to book your trip to London is to go to

B&B (1992 British TV film)
Award-winning feature-length family film starring Kevin Whately as Steve, a single father who, after losing his job as an architect, sets up a guest house with young daughter Alice to avoid losing his home as well. Will they succeed, or will the unscrupulous property developers get their way? This was originally broadcast as a two-part drama on Friday, 19th and 26th June, 1992, and is absolutely not to be confused with the 2016 Paul McGann film of the same name, or the 1992 Roger Moore romantic comedy Bed & Breakfast.
This is genuinely heart-warming stuff with a full range of emotions, yet it never crosses the line into soppiness and still manages to retain a sense of both real peril and humour at the same time. The set piece with Roger Sloman and the moving hat (trying to avoid spoilers) is genuinely funny and resolved cleverly, while the heavies provide a different dimension, but you're also left wondering just how far the ruthless bad guys are willing to go in order to get their hands on the house. There are question marks over exactly who can be trusted and who can't, plus the difficulties faced by single-parent families rear their head on occasions. Overall, this really is very enjoyable, and in my book unfairly forgotten in the mists of time. Another bonus point is that I don't like it when a film tries to wrap up every single thread at the end, as if all the characters needs to receive either their reward or their comeuppance. This tells its story, and when it's finished, it ends - perfectly satisfying, and still open to a sequel or spin-off series. It's no surprise that B&B went on to win The Writers' Guild Award for Best Children's TV Show.
Besides Kevin Whately (who, despite his decades as Lewis, I still look at and think Oh - it's the dad from Geordie Racer), the central role is played by Alexandra Milman. As the independent and motivated daughter, she's excellent, and it was almost an inevitability that the same writers would go on to cast her in Mike and Angelo as Melanie and The Tomorrow People as Jade. She subsequently landed the lead in The Genie from Down Under (a BBC/Australian co-production I don't really remember) and played Anne Bronte in a 2003 TV movie - but unfortunately her IMDB doesn't list anything in the last 10 years or so. I wonder what became of Alexandra. Working on the stage, perhaps? Stealing the show in many ways, though, is Katy Murphy as troubled wandering busker Billie. We, of course, know Katy as a regular in Spatz and Mike and Angelo, but her performance here runs the full gamut and adds an element of unpredictability. In fact, the more I see of her, the more I wonder why we haven't seen *much* more of her in TV and film. Also making appearances are (amongst others) the likes of Ian McNeice, Jan Ravens, Joanna Kanska, Caroline O'Neill, Tim Healy and Dicken Ashworth - all recognisable faces on British TV, which add up to a very impressive ensemble indeed. Oh, and look out for a young Sam Stockman, too.
On top of all that, I'd like to give a big mention to director Graham Dixon, who pulled it all off brilliantly. Also to Jim Parker for providing great music, Joyce Nettles for getting the casting so right, and production designer Mark Tildesley, who - get this - went on to co-design the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. No wonder Spatz always looked so good!
This is a lot longer than most of my uploads and something of a departure, but I hope you stick at it and enjoy it as much as I do.
Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.

Caroline Lucas MP: 'The Politics of UK Higher Education Today'
Caroline Lucas speaking at the Convention for Higher Education
University of Brighton
Friday 24 & Saturday 25 May 2013
Organised by the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics (CAPPE), University of Brighton, and co-sponsored by the Campaign for Public Universities, the Council for the Defence of British Universities, and the UCU at the University of Brighton, this two-day conference on Higher Education investigated the current changes that British Higher Education (in England and Wales) is undergoing.
The Convention was designed to enable colleagues from the full range of university disciplines to address how to preserve a properly described 'higher education' from the effects of current proposals, and from the redefinition of universities and of higher learning. As a complement to the Council for the Defence of British Universities and the Campaign for Public Universities, it considered a draft of a Charter for Higher Education that the organisers hope will be debated and refined in most or all institutions of higher learning throughout the UK, and which could then form the core of values around which colleagues could cohere, whether as members of Councils and Academic Boards, Faculty or School Boards, as members of their Course Committees, or as union members.
The Convention was occasioned by the 25th anniversary of the Humanities Programme at the University of Brighton. Born in in adversity in 1988 -- in the midst of an earlier assault on the Humanities -- it has survived and thrived by resisting both governmental pressure and temporary fashions in education and pedagogy. It is an interdisciplinary, non-modular range of degree courses based on small-group teaching, and research-focused student development.
Keynote speakers:
Priya Gopal, John Holmwood, Martin McQuillan, Gill Scott, Will Hutton,
Martin Hall, Luke Martell,
Peter Scott, Tom Hickey, Caroline Lucas (MP), Thomas Docherty, Des Freedman, Terry Brotherstone, Harriet Bradley, Mark Erickson.
