Höhepunkt des Jubiläumsjahr 500 Jahre Reformation!
Der 31. Oktober bildet den Höhepunkt im Jubiläumsjahr der Reformation. Der zentrale Festgottesdienst wird an dem Ort gefeiert, an dem die Ereignisse vor 500 Jahren ihren Ausgang nahmen: In der Schlosskirche in Wittenberg. Mit der Kirche, die dort zu Martin Luthers Lebzeiten stand, hat der heutige Kirchbau kaum etwas gemeinsam, aber er wurde dennoch zur Gedenk- und Gedächtnisstätte.
Gerade in diesem Jahr in 2017 machten sich Hunderttausende auf den Weg nach Lutherstadt Wittenberg, um vor der berühmten Thesentür zu stehen. Üblicherweise werden durch diese Tür die Ehrengäste in die Kirche geleitet und am Reformationstag 2017 ist mit einer beachtlichen Anzahl hochrangiger Vertreter aus Politik und Gesellschaft zu rechnen. Aber es werden auch viele Christen aus der Wittenberger Gemeinde diesen Gottesdienst mitfeiern.
Die Predigt hält der Ratsvorsitzende der EKD, Landesbischof Heinrich Bedford-Strohm. Der Leipziger Thomanerchor ist eingeladen, bei der musikalischen Gestaltung mitzuwirken.

Highlight of the Jubilee Year 500 years Reformation!
The 31st of October marks the climax of the jubilee year of the Reformation. The central festival service is celebrated at the place where events began 500 years ago: in the castle church in Wittenberg. With the church, which stood there during Martin Luther's lifetime, today's church has little in common, but he was still a memorial and memorial.
Just this year in 2017, hundreds of thousands made their way to Lutherstadt Wittenberg to stand in front of the famous Thesenür. Usually the guests of honor are led into the church through this door and on the Reformation Day 2017 a considerable number of high-ranking representatives from politics and society can be expected. But many Christians from the Wittenberg congregation will also celebrate this service.
The sermon will be delivered by the President of the Council of the EKD, Bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm. The Leipzig Thomanerchor is invited to participate in the musical arrangement.

Luther 500 Festival: Evening Prayer in the Castle Church, Wittenberg
The Luther 500 festival held this June in Wittenberg, Germany began each day with Morning Prayer and ended each day with Evening with Evening Prayer. This is the opening to one of the Evening Prayer sessions held in the Town Church where Martin Luther would often preach to the people.
