Adigrat is a city in the Tigray Region (or kilil) of Ethiopia. Located in the Misraqawi Zone
with an elevation of 2457 meters above sea level, below a high ridge to the west, Adigrat is the last important Ethiopian city south of the border with Eritrea, and is considered to be a strategically important gateway to Eritrea and the Red Sea. It is also the administrative center of Ganta Afeshum woreda.
The largest pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Ethiopia, Addis Pharmaceuticals Factory SC, is located in Adigrat. Opened in 1992, the plant has an annual production capacity of 1.2 billion tables, 19 billion ampoules, 10 million vials, 500,000 capsules, 4 million ointment tubes and 9.6 million bottles of syrup. Addis Pharmaceuticals is one of the 13 companies owned and managed by the Endowment Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigray

The first Catholic Church of Emmanuel in Bale built by Abba Abraha welcomes new priests
Abba Abraha Baraki's Emmanuel Catholic Parish Church celebrates three newly ordained priests' first Mass as the first fruits of vocation cultivated by the energetic and dedicated priest originally from the Eparchy of Adigrat, Tigray, Ethiopia. Emmanuel parish church which was elevated in 2012 to the status of Apostolic Prefecture by the Holy See in Rome was built by the tireless efforts and initiative of Abba Abraha, the first Catholic missionary priest sent to Bale under the auspices and pastoral guidance of the late bishop of Meki Vicariate, Abune Yohannes Woldegiorgis. Twenty-five years ago, Abba Abraha Baraki began his mission from the scratch at Robe (Bale) in Oromya State of Southeastern Ethiopia which impressively flourished with many conversions to Catholicism and pastoral successes to the point of becoming its own apostolic prefecture!
