Fr John Sherlock [1919-2013]
Funeral mass for the Irish missionary who was known to be a priest to the barrio, a builder of Church, a great counselor and famous retreat master who died at the age of 94 last September 30, 2013. Fr. John C. Sherlock, OMI was born on March 2, 1919 entered the OMI in 1940 at the age of 21 and was ordained on June 29, 1949. He was sent to Philippines in 1951 from Dublin, Ireland and served many rural Catholic Christian and Muslim communities in North Cotabato and Central Mindanao. Fr John produced prayer books that he used in his retreats which changed so many peoples life and made them lived with strong faith in God. Fr. John's funeral mass was celebrated by the OMI's Provincial Superior Fr. Lauro de Guia, OMI last October4, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes auditorium and he was buried at OMI's cemetery in Our Lourdes Grotto, Tamontaka. (PMS)
