China Tour Highlights
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra toured China in May 2018, performing in six cities in ten days under the helm of Chief Conductor Sir Andrew Davis.
Following its successful performance and residency with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in 2016, the MSO returned to undertake its first major China tour in sixteen years.
82 musicians and guest artists including China’s most eminent violinist Lu Siqing, pianist Moye Chen and MSO assistant conductor Tianyi Lu performed in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing and Hangzhou with a final concert in Beijing.

Trying The Most Expensive Tea Of China In Hangzhou | TRAVEL VLOG
This time we are visiting two tea plantations of Hangzhou. The first plantation that we visited was LongWu Cha Cun (龙坞茶村) The entrance admission is free. In this area there are no people unless some locals, who are taking care about the plantations. Is a really comfortable place for relaxing and enjoying landscapes. There are also teahouses where you can get and try Hangzhou tea.
Location: 杭州西湖区龙坞茶村 （Hangzhou Xihuqu LongWu Cha Cun)
The second plantation that we visited was Longjing cun (Dragon Well Village). It is an ancient village, famous for producing Longjing Tea (龙井茶). It is a picturesque wonderland surrounded by mountains with a large area of tea trees. There is a National Tea Museum where you can learn some Chinese tea culture. The entrance fee is for free.

Thousands of pink clad girls take to the streets in China
Thousands of ladies were decked out in pink in China on Saturday to advocate women’s health, fitness and having confidence in yourself.
Around 3000 women took to the streets to take part in the half marathon Pink Run in South China’s Xiamen City.
The run, themed “caring for women”, was composed of three parts：a half-marathon, a mini-marathon and a pink-ribbon run.
Men were also allowed to attend the event… well, as wait staff for the ladies. But they didn’t seem to mind, those finishing the race were welcomed with cheers from the gentlemen watching.
In the end, Xie Qianhe, a player from Taipei, was the first passing the finishing line.

京剧《霸王别姬》。Farewell My Concubine 北京梅兰芳京剧团加拿大温哥华上演传统大戏 开启“一带一路” 京剧之旅。《霸王别姬》陈俊杰扮演项羽、窦晓璇扮演虞姬。《霸王别姬》故事反映的是虞姬和项羽感天动地的爱情，楚霸王英雄末路，虞姬自刎殉情。
除《霸王别姬》之外，其他日期和场地的表演包括《白蛇传》Legend of Lady White Snake、《秋江》The Autumn River、《大闹天宫》Havoc in Heaven、《吕布与貂婵》Lu Bu and Diao Chan、《赵氏孤儿》、《三岔口》San Cha Kou、《小宴》The Banquet。
北京京剧院梅兰芳京剧团，是中国唯一以艺术家个人名字命名的国家级表演艺术团体，创建于20世纪20年代。京剧艺术大师梅兰芳先生代表作有《貴妃醉酒》《太真外傳》《穆桂英掛帥》《宇宙锋》等。

The Mei Lanfang Beijing Opera Troupe came to Vancouver for a Canadian tour at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on December 22 and 23 for two evening performances of 'The Legend of Lady White Snake'. There is also be a 2PM matinee show of selected scenes from Beijing operas such as 'Farewell My Concubine', 'Havoc in Heaven' from the Money King etc. on December 23 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
此次出演由梅兰芳京剧团团长李宏图带队，他是著名京剧叶派小生，国家一级演员，梅花奖获得者，文化部优秀专家，亚洲最杰出艺人终身成就奖获得者。艺术总监叶少兰先生，系著名“叶派”京剧表演艺术家，首届梅花奖获得者；1986年被美国授予富布赖特国际学者；1999年6月获美国美华艺术中心授予的终生成就奖。著名京剧表演艺术家叶少兰说：“中国的京剧艺术在世界戏剧舞台中具有独特地位和无可比拟的文化价值，要在不断发展的过程中坚守民族文化特色。此次出演将让海外观众能够更深入、更全面的了解京剧文化。”
京剧这一“人类非物质文化遗产”，被称为中国的国粹和东方艺术的瑰宝。今年恰逢加拿大建国150周年，北京京剧院与中意博联（北京）国际文化传播有限公司、天涯星灿文化发展中心合作，是“一带一路，京剧之旅”五年计划的一个美好开始。以传播中国优秀传统艺术来实现文明交流、文明互鉴、文明共存的理想。

Out of the Ordinary - Spectacular Craft at the V&A: Lu Shengzhong
This joint V&A and Crafts Council exhibition featured eight international artists who place meticulous craftsmanship at the heart of their work. On display were unusual and beautifully crafted installations. The artists take inspiration from the everyday, transforming their subjects using traditional techniques in unexpected ways.
Lu Shengzhong is a professor at the China Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing. While studying art in the 1980s he became interested in how ancient crafts such as paper cutting are integrated into everyday life in rural China.
His installations feature thousands of repeated figures, all meticulously hand-cut with scissors and scalpels from red tissue paper. Red symbolises good luck in China, and this type of paper is commonly used in celebrations such as weddings and New Year. By cutting each small figure by hand, Lu Shengzhong makes each one slightly different, unique. This manual process enables him to use both the positive and the negative paper cut-outs in the work.
'I use paper to cut this little red figure to demonstrate the delicate fragility of human beings. Ephemeral. A human's life is shorter than a paper's thickness. The material is not important. What is more important is the process you use to create that material. This is more valuable to me.'
