To the right of the square there is the State Museum of Georgia after Simon Janashia, founded in 1923 on the basis of the Caucasian Museum, which had existed since 1825. It is the largest storehouse for the monuments of Georgian culture. Of special interest are the materials from Trialeti burial mounds, referred to the second century before Christ, gold and silver vessels, ceramic items decorated with design. World arts masterpieces include Trialeti gold cup decorated with precious stones and hermetic design. Jewelry articles of the 5-6 centuries B.C. are distinguished by their exclusive perfection of technique and subtle artistic taste: gold diadems, bracelets, earrings, pendants, silver decorations for horse harness, jugs, cups, goblets. It contains vast collections of weaponry and coins not only from Georgia, but from Middle East countries. Ethnographic Department keeps handicrafts' articles - cloths, carpets, wonderful wood fretwork.

Museum description: The museum houses collections of XIX-XX c.c. craft works from Georgia, as well as objects, mage by other Caucasian nations. In the museum are displayed gold and silver items, also objects – adornments, belts, weapons, household objects; there are also collections of Caucasian rugs and carpets, silk, leather, heavy cloth, felt objects, Khevsiretian (East Georgia, mountainous region) clothes, embroidery samples, tapestry; collection of local musical instruments; collections of folk craft objects. In the museum are stored works of Latvian artist Yuli Straume (1874-1970) the rich collection of drawings based on the Caucasian ethnographic material–ornament patterns, sketches, etc.

reWoven Radio Interview Tbilisi
This is a video of a radio interview at Tbilisi's First Channel radio station on Friday, March 21 2014 at 8:40am. The program is in Georgian, with limited English from the lone non-Georgian speaker. The program begins with an explanation by Binnat Samedov about Novruz Bayrami, the Azerbaijani celebration of spring's arrival that is rooted in Persian traditions. The art director at the Akhundov House, Archil Bezhanishvili, then shares about reWoven's exhibit in their gallery. And Ryan Smith, reWoven's project director, gives background the project. The rug on the table is one of reWoven's rugs.
