Centennial Moment: Traditions - Harvest Festival and Homecoming
Celebrating its Centennial anniversary, Oklahoma Baptist University has released a series of short Centennial Moment videos offering a glimpse of various aspects of life on Bison Hill from its inception.
Narrated by John Holcomb and Kirsten McIntyre Gantz, the videos reveal how OBU adopted Ka-Rip as the school's yell, at what time hundreds of men lived in WMU Dormitory, how 60 acres of wild golden coreopsis influenced the school colors and other details of the university's 100-year history.
The Centennial Moments are written by Dr. John W. Parrish, an honorary 1989 alumnus and chair of OBU's Centennial Committee. They are produced by Michael Bruce, a 1989 alumnus and OBU assistant professor of telecommunications, and Derek Watson, a 2006 alumnus who works as a producer with OETA in Oklahoma City.

101 Ranch
F2013.134.2.0008
Description: Black and white film covering the rise and fall of Oklahoma's 101 Ranch. The historical overview begins from the conception of the 101 in 1879 by George W. Miller and then traces the development and successes of the ranch by Miller's three sons: George Miller, Jr., Joe Miller, and Zack Miller. As the Miller brothers found success in agricultural endeavors, they established the 101's headquarters, the White House, in Ponca City, OK. There they established a self-efficient community with its own roads, bridges, power plant, meat-packing industry, telephone company, their own form of money (the Bronc), etc. Footage covers the 101's Apple Blossom Day events, the 1905 Convention of the National Editorial Association, The Wild West Show established in 1913, and Cherokee Strip Cowpunchers Association footage from the 1920s, and The Terapin Roundup and Derby which started in 1924. The relationship between the Ponca Indians and the Miller brothers, as well as the contributions the Ponca Tribe made to the 101 shows is discussed at length. Footage from the film Recreation of 1889 includes the original cast. The memorial sites of Bill Pickett, one of the greatest, African American rodeo performers of all time and Chief White Eagle of the Ponca Indian Tribe are featured. Final footage covers Colonel Joe Miller's traditional Ponca Memorial Service, George Miller's funeral service, and the ruins of the White House and 101 Ranch.

We the People: A Portrait of Early Oklahoma
In 1891, Henry M. Wantland and his young family arrived in Oklahoma Territory and settled in Stillwater, a small town born of the Land Run and bustling with opportunity and ambition. He eventually purchased a photography studio and spent the next two decades recording the world around him. In the exhibition We the People: A Portrait of Early Oklahoma, the Museum presents a selection of Wantland’s work from the Dickinson Research Center’s Robert E. Cunningham Oklahoma History Collection. Continues through October 22, 2017.
