Chan Chan es una ciudad precolombina de adobe, construida en la costa norte del Perú por los chimúes. Es la ciudad construida en adobe más grande de América Latina1 y la segunda en el mundo.

Antes de la expansión y dominio de los Incas, los Chimúes fueron los reyes en el norte de Perú, donde levantaron Chan Chan, ciudad del reino de Chimor, en medio del desierto. Restos humanos de niños sacrificados y esculturas de escenas funerarias, indican que eran absolutos devotos de sus dioses.

Chanchan, The World´s Largest Adobe City | History - Planet Doc Full Documentaries
In this documentary we discover Chanchán, the world´s largest adobe city of XI century. It was the Chimú who through irrigation channels founded the city of Chanchán. Is formed by corridors that connect the different rooms to the main ceremonial plaza, the largest one in the world back then, a 7.72 mi2 courtyard with nine walled enclosures.
It was a very hierarchical society. The Gran Chimú was above everything else.
They were great metal workers. The numerous artifacts found are made of gold. The Chimú worshiped the sun and the moon.
There are sea references everywhere, typical of a city whose inhabitants spent their lives fishing.

TRUJILLO DAY TRIP | Huanchaco, Huacas de Moche & Chan Chan, Peru | Northern Peru Travel
We finally left Cusco for Trujillo, the third-largest city in Peru, located in Northern Peru.
In this vlog, we take you on a day trip from Trujillo to three different sites:
1. Huacas de Moche (Temples of Moche)
2. Chan Chan Peru
3. Huanchaco

Our first stop was the Moche Temples, which consists of the Moche Museum (Museo Huacas de Moche), Temple of the Sun (Huaca del Sol) and Temple of the Moon (Huaca de la Luna). It was the city of the Moche civilization, which was developed around year 600 - a few hundred years prior to the Inca civilization.
Our second stop was the Chan Chan Ruins, which are one of the most endangered UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The ruins of Chan Chan also includes the Rainbow Temple (Huaca del Dragón), as well as the main Chan Chan Archaeological Zone. Chan Chan is a pre-Columbian city in the Americas. This Chimu Kingdom was the largest adobe city in the world with around 10,000 buildings. It was the capital of the Chimú civilization.
We ended our day in Huanchaco, a coastal town that used to be a sleepy fishing village. The waves here make the Huanchaco surf popular with the locals.
We're so glad we did this tour. It was a definite Northern Peru Travel bucket list item, as this is one of the least visited regions of Peru. Northern Peru receives less than 10% of International visitors to Peru.

En este documental descubrimos Chanchán, la ciudad más grande del siglo XI, situada en la desértica costa peruana. La ciudad fue creada por los Chimú mediante canales de regadío. Formada por una red de pasillos y nueve recintos amurallados unidos por la plaza ceremonial de 20.000Km2, la más grande del mundo hasta aquel entonces. La sociedad que allí vivía era muy jerarquizada, por encima de todo estaba el Gran Chimú. Los Chimús fueron grandes orfebres, con sus piezas de oro tendían culto al sol y a la luna.
La mayoría de las construcciones son de arcilla y contienen referencias al mar ya que sus habitantes se pasaban la vida pescando.
