Backpacking Rocky Mountain National Park
We set out for a 3 day 2 night backpacking trip on the CDT Loop Trail in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We completed the first day, 9 miles up to the Granite Falls backcountry sites. The hike was pleasant; however, the altitude was getting to Craig a little bit by the end of night one. The next morning, we were scheduled to complete another 9 miles up and over, above treeline. At this point, the altitude was presenting a few more problems for Craig and therefore we decided to call the hike and head back down. We were disappointed, but we were still confident with our decision. We completed 18 miles and one night in the Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the country. Thanks for watching!

Epic Hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park - 2 Day RMNP Itinerary
Nomad Family Log: July 22nd - 28th
I can't believe it's been so long since we visited the epic Rocky Mountain National Park. This place is just as stunning as the first time we visited back in 2015 when we first started full time traveling in our RV (with 5 kids btw).
There are so many amazing hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park it was impossible for us to pick just one. In our 2 day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park, we got to see 11 epic alpine lakes and hiked 23 miles. Don't worry, you don't have to do that much hiking to get a good taste of RMNP.

Cub Lake, Rocky Mountains, Colorado, United States
Cub Lake, Rocky Mountains, Colorado, USA 2005
From Estes Park, continue west on Hwy 36 to the Beaver Meadows entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. Just beyond the entrance, turn left and head south on Bear Lake Rd. for about 1.3 miles, then turn right (west) toward the Moraine Park Campground (the turnoff is just past a large stand of aspen trees, near the Moraine Park Visitor's Center). This road follows the north side of Moraine Park for about 1/2 mile to another junction. At this junction, turn left toward the Fern Falls And Fern Lake and Cub Lake Trailheads. There are no facilities at the parking lot, but there is a restroom at the Fern Lake parking lot. The trailhead parking lot is small and fills up quickly. If so, you can continue up the road to the Fern Lake parking lot, but this will add about 1 mile if you walk back to the Cub Lake Trail. Be advised that during the busy summer months, even the Fern Lake parking lot can fill up by midmorning.

Hike to Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park on 7/26/2016
On 7/26/2016 I took the 5 hour, round trip hike to Sky Pond from Glacier Gorge Trailhead. I left early in the morning to avoid the crowds and the views and the fishing were both spectacular! The climb up the waterfalls to Glass Lake was a good experience and a bit more difficult than I had planned on. Easily doable if you take your time. I caught Brookies in Sky Pond and Greenbacks in Icy Brook. I will do this hike again soon!

Sensational! Chasm Waterfall in Rocky Mountain National Park in High Quality
Chasm Waterfall in high definition Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado Drop: 30 foot drop with cascades above and below the main drop. Directions: Take US 34 west from Estes Park into the Rocky Mountain National Park on Fall River Road. About .9 miles past the Endovalley turnoff, just above a switchback, is the parking area for Chasm Falls. There is a trail that follows the falls downstream from the parking area. It is well maintained; a little steep but not too bad.
Throughout its 416 square miles of rock-ribbed wildness, Rocky Mountain National Park truly is a land of superlatives. Here at least 60 mountains exceed 12,000 feet, topping off at 14,259 feet on the football field-sized summit of Longs Peak. Names such as Cirrus, Chiefs Head, Isolation, Mummy, and Storm evoke the grandeur of this high landscape.
Although the great peaks comprise the essence of the park, the delicate alpine flowers, clear lakes, rushing mountain waters, and impressive forests appeal to all the senses. An array of wildlife - bighorn sheep, ptarmigan, coyote, elk - adds life to the landscape.
The wide variety of elevations and habitats create a choice of activities for visitors. From scenic drives and short strolls along a gentle trail to more ambitious daylong hikes to vertical mountain climbs, Rocky Mountain National Park offers many ways to experience nature in all its splendor.
SEASON 2: SOUTH WEST | ESTES Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park
We stayed in Estes Park, Colorado at the Jelly Stone RV Park and visited Rocky Mountain National Park. While there we drove Old Fall River road to Chasm Falls and up to Alpine Visitor Center.
We hiked Bear Lake, with our granddaughter and then hiked up to Alberta Falls and Mills lake with my daughter. The next day Kelly, our daughter and I hiked up to Deer Mountain, the view was beautiful by the lingering smoke from the California and Colorado left a haze in the view.
The girls went horse back riding at Jackson Stables located at the YMCA of Estes park. Great ride with great service.
