Chautauqua County says No to Big Wind
Video features powerful statements by Legislator Charles Nazzaro and Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello. March 28, 2018 Chautauqua County legislators unanimously approved disallowing county subsidies for corporate wind companies in the county. Nazzaro said, As more counties take a stance on this it's going to create wider attention statewide. Two other counties have passed [no PILOT resolutions, Jefferson & Oswego Counties] Hopefully, other counties around us - our neighbors - will listen and do similar resolutions that take a united stance.
Across NY State, county Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs) are encouraged by the State to give tax relief (PILOTs) to corporate wind as part of the New York State subsidy package. Turbine companies already receive federal and state subsidies of 75%. County budgets are strained by burdensome state spending mandates thus PILOT agreements cause more local tax money to bleed out to Wall Street and international investors. Town of Redfield NY statement, The wind project threatens the environment, economy, national security, and health of area residents.

There are, in fact, many fascinating and beautiful places to live that are quite affordable. On that note, here are 11 of the cheapest places to live in New York.

Watkins Glen Gorge Trail - Finger Lakes, NY
This is a great trail to check out if you are ever up in the finger lakes. The trail is free to the public but parking is $8 per car if you use the lot. The trail is located at the bottom of Seneca Lake, in the town of Watkins Glen. If you plan to walk the trail, bring shoes with some traction because the ground will be wet from falling water. Also plan to get sprinkled on and don't wear too nice of shoes because it can be a little muddy in spots. That being said, the trail is still one of the most amazing wonders of nature that I have ever seen on the East Coast and is a must if you are anywhere in the area.
