Off the Beaten Path: Skinnerville, MA | Connecting Point | Apr. 12, 2017
Connecting Point’s “Off The Beaten Path” continues with a look at Skinnerville, MA, a typical mill village of the mid-nineteenth century that was located along the banks of the Mill River near Williamsburg, Haydenville and Leeds.
In 1874, a catastrophic event would wipe Skinnerville off the map and today nothing more than a plaque on a rock and a few property markers are left. Producer Dave Fraser talks with Williamsburg Historian Ralmond Jon Black to learn more about this intriguing village located “Off the Beaten Path.”

Billerica Tree
On to Boston, via Billerica
Above, this 47-foot, 55-year-old spruce tree from Nova Scotia was parked at Reas Transportation in Billerica overnight Thursday into Friday, before it was transported for the last leg of its trip into Boston. The city’s official Christmas tree will be lit on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Copley Square between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The tree was transported by David MacFarlane and Sheldon Garland (left photo), both of whom work for Nova Scotia Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal. Because of its size, the tree can only be moved during the day, thus the Billerica stopover.
