ABOUT US:
We originally quit our jobs and sold it all to travel the world for as long as we could afford. We went nearly broke after 6 months as we depleted most of our savings while traveling Cairo-Egypt, Dar Es Salaam-Tanzania, Maputo-Mozambique and along the Garden Route of South Africa: Johannesburg, Kruger National Park, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
We were then at a crossroads, with our savings nearly depleted we had enough for one of the following: 1. Fly home, settle and/or save up more money to travel. 2. Fly to China where I (Vic) had a friend teaching English. We chose Chengdu China. Where we lived and worked for nearly 6 months, making visa runs every 2 months to nearby countries such as Hong Kong and Bangkok-Thailand. We decided to leave Chengdu in November 2017 after resolving pregnancy complications for-soon-to be baby #2. After getting cleared for strictly overland travel, while pregnant, we embarked on a 6-month overland Journey through Vietnam(3months), Cambodia(2 months, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap), and Thailand(2 weeks). We then arrived in Malaysia to have a water birth and live for the next 9 months. The baby was born 2 weeks early on May 19th, 2018. While living in Malaysia we also had to do 2 visa runs (3 month intervals), the first time we took a train to the Thai border then immediately went back, same day, within minutes. We also flew to Medan Indonesia for about 1 week. After Malaysia, we spent 2 months in Phuket Thailand. Went back to Penang Malaysia for 1 more month. Finally, we visited Chengdu China one more time, for 1 month, primarily to attend a Chinese friend's wedding.
Now we are seasonal travelers! Traveling non-stop for up to 6 months at a time! We typically head back to Chicago early summer, Mayish, and stay through the first semester, Decemberish, so that our eldest daughter can attend grade school!
We work year-round, from our laptops doing various things remotely. Everything from teaching children English online to managing Airbnbs, custom website services, working our investment portfolios, graphic design work to stock trading. But our specialty is family photography and videography. We love to partner with various brands and tourism boards as we travel to help showcase their products, services, city or country!
We started as a family of 3. Just your average young couple with a child. Living in Chicago's north suburbs, working 9-5's and looking forward to the weekends. Now, almost 3 years later, we are a family of 4. Welcoming our second baby in Malaysia! This is our life! And it can be yours too!!!

When U.S. President Richard M. Nixon descended the steps into history on his first visit to China in 1972 only the most prescient of futurist could have predicted the meteoric growth and transformation that the Peoples Republic of China has experienced in the subsequent decades. Beijing has an amazing history exemplified by three of the city’s most impressive historic attractions: Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. Early mornings many Chinese start their day with tai chi chuan at the Temple of Heaven, a calm and controlled exercise of the body and mind. The Imperial Palace was off limits to the public for over 500 years and was hence known as the Forbidden City. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is now the Imperial Palace Museum and the largest and best-preserved example of ancient Chinese buildings and culture in China. One of the main entrances is just off Tiananmen Square, the worlds largest public square. Nearby, hutongs (old neighborhoods) still exist surrounded by 20th century progress. The Summer Palace is the largest imperial garden in the world and is a great example of classical Chinese garden architecture. The Great Wall of China was first built in the 7th century as a defense against the Mongolians when China was still divided into many small states and today it still twists and winds along hill crests, gorges, and rivers for thousands of miles. In 1974, a group of peasants uncovered some pottery while digging for a well and accidentally uncovered the remains of one of the greatest archeological discoveries of the century. These artifacts were associated with the Qin Dynasty (211-206 BC) and are now known as the Xi’an Terracotta Warriors. Life-size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations are the star features. One of the most spectacular landscapes in China is Guilin and the Li River with it’s limestone towers and the view from a river cruise through it’s crystal-clear water is outstanding. Nearby Yangshuo City Market is a site to behold with everything very fresh! Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of life, a blending of East and West in a city of diversity where new and old meet at every turn. Symphony of Lights, The Star Ferry, world’s longest open-air escalator, markets and fantastic historical photos taken from Victoria Peak all leave an indelible impression. Hangshou is considered one of the 10 most scenic cities in China and Shanghai, one of the largest urban areas in the world, is recognized as China's most important centre of commerce. A cosmopolitan city buzzing with a 'lifestyle revolution', shown in the architectural temples of art, fine dining and contemporary urban living on the Bund.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding

Jilin rain relocation | China
A total of 75,000 people had been relocated as of Friday in Yongji, a county in northeast China’s Jilin Province, due to recent heavy rain. Heavy rain hit the county on Thursday, triggering floods and affecting 260,000 residents. Local authorities started to relocate affected residents from Thursday afternoon onwards. Some people were relocated to No. 4 Middle School in Yongji. At the school, residents can get food and water, which were provided by local government to ensure their basic living as water and power were out on Friday. Right now, we asked firefighters to fill our 30 pools with water, so local residents will have enough water for drinking and other uses when living in our dormitory. Meanwhile, civil affair bureaus from both the county level and the municipal level dispatched bedding for 800 people, which will arrive at our school soon, said Li Zhongmi, headmaster at No. 4 Middle School in Yongji. The school has accommodated 820 people by 18:00 on Friday, making it the largest relocation site. More residents will soon come to the school for temporary shelter.

4k Amazing HEFEI by drone | Aerial photography | China by drone
Hefei, also known as Luzhou or Luyang in ancient times, is a historical city located in the central area of Anhui Province, between Changjiang and Huaihe Rivers, bordering Chaohu Lake in the south. Its administration covers Eastern City, Western City, Central City, as well as 4 suburban districts and 3 counties including Changfeng, Feidong, and Feixi. The total area is 7266 km2 (458 km2 for urban area) with a population of 4.259 million (1.2794 million in urban area). Broad avenues and beautiful landscape, modern constructions and historical relics present Hefei as a youthful yet time-honored city.
As the capital city of Anhui Province, Hefei is the center of politics, economy, education, culture, information, finance, commerce, and communication. It is also a national A-level opening city, national education base, and one of the three technology innovation pilot cities. Nobel laureate Yang Zhenning was born here. There are 13 institutions of higher learning, including: University of Science and Technology of China, Anhui University, and HeFei University of Technology, 20 colleges of continuing education, 50 technical secondary schools, 5 secondary normal schools, 73 vocational middle schools, 24 technical schools, 11 adult technical secondary schools, and over 200 scientific institutions including the Hefei Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its specialized technical personnel amounts to 170,000, and the talents reserve ranks among the top in China.
The origin of the name Hefei may have come from some of the following sources. In the Annotation to 'Scripture of Hydrology and Geography written by Li Daoyuan of Northern Wei Dynasty, in summer, the rising flow of Shi River joined (He-) the Fei River, hence the name. The Shi River is commonly called the Southern Fei River, and the original Fei River named as Eastern Fei River. Both rivers are Feis that are joined (He-) at the fountainhead and therefore called Hefei.
Historically, Hefei is known for its relics from the Three Kingdoms times, and is the hometown of Baozheng, a famous judge in Chinese history. It was a strategic spot by Huai River and in southeast China, where military forces often vied for occupation. A famous battle in the Three Kingdoms times took place in Hefei, then known as Xiaoyaojin, where Zhang Liao defeated a troop of 100,000 from one of his major rival forces Sun Quan. A trade center was formed in the area over 2000 years ago. It developed into a county in Qin and Han Dynasties, and became the city of Luzhou in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the Republic China, Hefei was the capital of Anhui Province. Now it is a commercial center accommodating thousands of businesses and millions of people.
In recent years, Hefei has witnessed accelerated economic development with revolutionary progress in urban construction. High-Tech Development Zone, Economic Development Zone, Longgang Industrial Park has emerged around the city. The modernized city, with Fei River passing through and city park encircling, still celebrates the attractive Xiaoyaojin, Baohe River, and Yaohai Park. The dawn of the Shu Mountain, the history in the Cemetery of Baozheng, the chimes from the Jiaonu Platform, and the traces of the King of Wu all leave something to remember.

Yanjiao 4K - Drive on Yanjiao Town - Sanhe City - Hebei - China 中国河北省三河市燕郊镇行车视频20181211
#Yanjiao #Hebei #Beijing
This video was filmed on Dec 11th, 2018.
Approximate start point:
Yanjiao (Chinese: 燕郊; pinyin: Yànjiāo; literally: Yan suburbs) is a town under the administration of Sanhe City in central Hebei province, bordering Tongzhou District, Beijing across the Chaobai River to the west, located 35 kilometres (22 mi) east of Tiananmen Square and 21 km (13 mi) west of Sanhe. It has a population of 250,000, with long-term residents accounting for 147,000 and migrants taking the rest; 97.9% of the population is of Han ethnicity. As of 2011, it has 55 villages under its administration.
As a satellite town of Beijing, Yanjiao is famous for its “shuttle” tide of people, who go to Beijing every morning and return from Beijing every evening. According to the statistics, there are more than 300 thousand of people travel to and from between Beijing and Yanjiao.
Why this happens? Why the people prefer Yanjiao?
Only one reason: the lower living cost, both the house rent and the price of real estate, and it is not far from Beijing.
With the great population, the town of Yanjiao actually looks like a city. In some ways, it is more prosperous than most 4th tier cities in China.

Prostitution in Chinese hotel: a Chinese mascarade
I am not debating prostitution here, but the huge mascarade in China. While the government talks about moral, most hotels make a large part of their income from prostitution.
Example of an Adult English School in Shenzhen, China
This is the inside of one of the branches of an English training center in Shenzhen, China. It's a bit of an old clip (from 2017... although I worked here off and on until 2019 spring), but I thought I would not let it go to waste. The clip plays at the end so just wait and you'll see it. This video shows that when adults study English in China they certainly do not do it during the day: they usually only come in the evenings or on Weekends.
CHINA: OLD PEOPLE ARE 'DANCING IN THE STREETS'
Mandarin/Nat
The Chinese capital, Beijing, is in the midst of a generation upheaval.
Thousands of residents have taken to drumming and dancing in the streets every night - but thousands more are complaining about the noise they make.
The conflict has an unusual twist - for once it's the old folks partying and the younger generation clamouring for peace and quiet.
Night falls in Beijing and the dancing begins.
But this is not a performance or a special event.
It is a ritual performed nightly by an estimated 60-thousand mostly elderly people across the city.
This generation has suffered decades of violent change and bitterness -- now that China is surging ahead, they want to have some fun.
Repressed and materially deprived for years, more and more of the older set are getting into the beat.

We're truly happy about this. We're old and have nothing to do at home. Our health isn't very good and it helps us to come out and play. This helps us to stay out of hospital by keeping us comfortable and in shape.
SUPER CAPTION: Sun Guizhen, Dancer
Originally performed at harvest time, the dance - called Yang Ge ('Yang-Geh') - was brought to the masses by ruler Mao Zedong's government.
Then China's 10-year Cultural Revolution stopped the music.
Now with greater prosperity the dance has returned - and become something of a craze.
A bit of a cross between the stroll and the bunny-hop, Yang Ge has enough bounce to keep them happy while being simple enough for the uninitiated to try without fear.
It's a far cry from a waltz.
The throbbing drums and clashing cymbals produce - according to police estimates - roughly the decibel level of a freight train at 22 metres.
If they're not hard of hearing yet, they may well be soon.
But apparently nothing will keep them away.
And not only do they keep themselves in shape, they say - they also avoid possible domestic quarrels.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
When I don't dance and just stay at home I'm always tense and feel like fighting - with adults or children. I am only happy when I come out and dance.
SUPER CAPTION: Yang Chaojun, Dancer
'Yang Ge' may be keeping Beijing's oldsters healthy and out of the house, but not everybody is happy with their nightly groove.
The dancers say they try their best to obey the laws prohibiting them from dancing near residential areas, but in Beijing's crowded streets complaints are never very far away.
The colourful dance attracts its share of onlookers as well as critics
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
Frankly they shouldn't be dancing this in public places, especially in the streets since they interfere with the traffic. Some people may like watching them, but those who don't have nowhere to run. Our city government is clearing out all the illegal buildings here, and I think the same should be done to this (dance). They should go and dance in the suburbs.
SUPER CAPTION: Wang Zunyue, Resident
Not all the critics are so strident.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
It's bad. You see, every day I have to go to bed early because I need to get up early for school. And I can't sleep with all their noise!
SUPER CAPTION: Yang Yi, Resident
They may not have the faces of troublemakers.
But while they protest they don't want to trouble anyone with their merrymaking, they are determined to express themselves.
Quite simply they say they have nowhere else to go.
SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin)
SUPER CAPTION: Yang Chaojun, Dancer
While China is in many ways still struggling to catch up with the developed world, this is one movement which is definitely avant-garde.
It may take years to get all the dancing out that is stored up inside, and for these folks, that's just fine.
