His Louisville park system, made up of 18 parks and 6 parkways, has been called the defining project of his career. In this segment, learn how Olmsted was brought to Louisville, and the inspiration behind the eventual design of the parks.

Retired Man's Bike Trips all over the U.S.
I am not ready for the Tour de France or in any way a competitive biker or racer. I am retired educator who needed to find a way to get outside, travel, get in much better shape and have fun. Over the past year I took up bicycling on a refurbished 2009 Haro XL Express hybrid comfort bike that I got from Old Bikes Belong in Louisville, KY and my retired life is awesome now.
I have been able to ride on trails as far south as Tampa, FL, as far north as Ottawa, ON, as far east as Washington DC and as far west as San Francisco, CA and ride 5-6 days a week, from as little as five to as much as 50 miles a day. Except for a few dirt and mountain paths (and on UNDERGROUND) these are mostly paved, relatively flat and enjoyable trails that are used by thousands. I do not like to ride on city streets and do not include bike lanes in my videos......just a preference as I value my life more than adventure.
I have included my favorite video clips from the following cities as well, taken mostly with a GoPro Hero3, helmet mounted and some with an IPhone clipped to my shirt, so I know some of them bounce a bit! I hope this helps someone as many of my rides have been discovered on YouTube and I find myself saying, I can do that!. Enjoy and know that if this 60 year old, 6'5 retiree can get out there and do it and lose fifty pounds, so can you! I'd be happy to provide feedback for others if you need it! Now that it's done snowing bring on 2015!

General Motors Co is going ahead with its plan to manufacture the new Chevrolet Blazer SUV in Mexico, a spokesman for the automaker said, despite criticism by U.S. President Donald Trump over making vehicles abroad.Trump has been pressing automakers to build more vehicles in the United States under efforts to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).'We remain committed to working with the administration on a modernized NAFTA,' GM spokesman Pat Morrissey said, adding the decision was made years ago.GM said the decision to build in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, was made years ago and that the Blazer's engines are made in the U.S. Trump has previously criticized GM for building vehicles in Mexico for sale in the United States. The United Auto Workers union called the decision disappointing. Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.

Louis and Pete from travel 7,260 miles from Louisville, KY to the California coastline and back in Serenity a 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited built up by Louis. Along for the ride was Vash the Standard Poodle. Great times were had, these pictures but snippets in time of that epic journey.
Musical tracks from the great William Shatner and his Seeking Major Tom album. First up was Bohemian Rhapsody, followed by Twilight Zone, and ending with Major Tom. I chose these tracks for a couple of reasons, first off, they are great! Second, we must have played this album, or at least parts of it a dozen times during our trip.
