Children's Holocaust Memorial Operating Hours
SELF-GUIDED TOURS OF THE MEMORIAL ARE AVAILABLE ANY TIME DURING SCHOOL HOURS.
After school self-guided tours are also available. Visitors may gain access to the car by picking up a key from Smith's Bros. Grocery at 13835 Hwy.28., which is located approximately 1.3 miles North of the second stop light on Hwy 28 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Central Time.
The car has its own audio system. When you enter the car, press the red button on your left above the glassed in area. You will hear facts about the car and the project. This audio presentation lasts approximately 20 minutes.
We can only offer student-led tours that include the letters and other artifacts on Fridays beginning at 9:00 am CT when school is in sessions. Please consult the district calendar for days when school is not in session. We are unable to honor requests for student-led tours at any other time.
Visitors without a scheduled tour who wish to read some of the letters and documents that have been sent to the project are welcome to visit the Holocaust Resource Library during regular school hours; however, due to limited space and personnel, we can not accommodate groups larger than 10 inside the Holocaust Resource Library.

95-year-old Holocaust survivor Ann Spicer made a trip to the Children's Holocaust Museum at Whitwell Middle School in Tennessee. This video documents the day as she spoke to students and placed a paperclip in the museum to honor her family who did not survive the war.

Never Stop Learning: Remembering the Holocaust
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- One school got to hear first hand what it was like to live during the Holocaust.
Walter Ziffer, 88, is a Holocaust survivor. He came to Apple Valley Middle School to describe the moment the Nazis moved into his hometown. The retired mars hill college professor shared his experiences with a packed auditorium to students.
He talked about how he was torn from his family at the age of 14 and sent to seven concentration camps over a four year period.
What happened a long time ago was really tragic and knowing all their stories many people died, seventh grader Hayley said. They were killed and it's amazing that people survived so it's important that we still remember them,.
Ziffer became one of 300,000 European Jews who brought their stories to the United States after the war.
He settled in Nashville, Tennessee in 1949, finished high school and later graduated with a degree in engineering from Vanderbilt University.
