Chinese Street Food in Chengdu is some of the best in China. My parents came on a family holiday to travel in China with me and try the best street food in Chengdu. We tried a lot of Chinese snacks and Chinese street foods together, and my parents loved the insane spicy food! I brought them to a famous fly restaurant, meaning a restaurant with apparently low cleanliness but incredibly delicious food.

Chinese Street Food Level 9000 - The Ultimate Chinese Street Food Tour in Chengdu, China! This is Sichuan Food HEAVEN!
In this Chinese Street Food Tour video, we’re bringing you in DEEP to try 4 amazing Chinese street foods in Chengdu. Here, the Sichuan food is world famous for being SPICY, Fragrant, and a little numbing as well from the Sichuan peppercorn.
Today, we’re going for a street food adventure to these 4 street food stalls to taste some delicious and spicy street foods and also a famous Sichuan dessert.
► The BEST VPNs for China:
We’re starting first thing in the morning for Chinese breakfast and going to a famous Sichuan Noodle Joint in Chengdu. This noodle restaurant is famous for its twice cooked pork noodles AKA huiguoroumian 回锅肉面.
Huiguorou twice cooked pork is a famous Sichuan food that is best in Chengdu. And to find it on top of noodles is very RARE. To me it’s like an upgraded dan dan noodle. The flavour is even stronger and more aromatic. And we were so lucky to get into the kitchen to watch the chef Mr.Yu cook his family recipe and serve it to us!
After this, we found the true Chinese Street Food LEVEL 9000 dish, the sweet sticky rice balls AKA Tangyou Guozi 糖油果子. Tangyou guozi are a very traditional Chinese street food in Chengdu that you need to try. The sticky rice balls are fried in a huge wok full of oil for about 10 minutes and then covered in a dark sweet molasses. They are crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and are incredibly sweet!
After this, we’re continuing our journey for another famous Chinese street food - WONTONS. And today, we got invited into the prep area of a famous wonton restaurant in a little neighbourhood of Chengdu. This restaurant serves a variety of special wontons famous in Sichuan cuisine. Watching the master chefs prepare these elegant and expensive wontons was a highlight of our Chinese street food adventure. They are most well known for their ganhaijiao chaoshou AKA spicy wontons covered in peanut and chili. You can order them dry or with stock. I prefer them dry. They also had two other amazing wonton dishes, one made with pork and another made with shrimp, pork, and crab egg, kind of like a Seafood wonton! Each of these were made with a chicken stock and served with either matsutake mushrooms or local fungus.
And to finish off our Chinese street food LEVEL 9000 Adventure - we’re going to the most famous Szechuan food of all, the Szechuan hot pot! Here in Chengdu, you can get extremely spicy and flavourful Sichuan hot pot almost anywhere. But we set out to find the most local style one and found a little place in a small neighbourhood in Chengdu. It was definitely one of the BEST hot pot restaurants in Chengdu! It was very spicy and flavourful and full of chili and Sichuan peppercorn!
All the addresses for this Chinese Street Food LEVEL 9000 Tour of Sichuan China are found in my Chengdu Food Tour Post here:

In this Chinese Street Food tour video, I take you around many places in Chengdu. First, I visited this local market near the outskirts of Chengdu, Sichuan, China, and found Chinese street food and the atmosphere to be mind blowing and exciting! It was truly an experience visiting this Chinese street market! So much food and Sichuan ingredients, so many flavours to try! Afterwards, I rode my bike around to many different locations.
Please like: facebook.com/foodrangin
I visited this morning market on a Sunday morning in Chengdu at 8am with an empty stomach and money to blow with the goal of tasting foods and chatting with as many locals as possible. This is a true China experience. It was so busy, with so many people, so many things to buy and look at, tons of vegetables, meat, live chickens, live hens, live roosters, everything you could want really. Fresh handmade noodles, fresh Sichuan cold liangbancai, and a huge meat market deli area with hanging pork and beef to choose from. All of the locals were friendly and talkative, although a bit surprised to see a foreigner walking through the area!
If you're visiting China as a tourist, you'll definitely want to take a walk through a busy morning market like this. There are countless street foods to try and people to chat to (If you speak a little mandarin). This market was mind blowing!
Rather than trying hot pot in Chengdu or hot pot in Chongqing, you could try some way cooler food in Chengdu at local market like this. This should be a top priority in my opinion!
Chinese cuisine is so diverse, and I consider myself lucky to be able to live in Sichuan, eating Sichuan food everyday, tasting all the top Chinese foods to try whenever I want. I've decided to stay living in China for at least another 2 or 3 years to get the feel of it and eat as much as I can!
The addresses of the locations in the video are:

Sichuan Airlines A350 Panda One Flight
Get $20 off an AWAY suitcase at use code SAM20. This video is sponsored by Away Travel.
Join me on this very fun Sichuan Airlines A350 Panda One flight from Beijing to Chengdu. This is my first full video in my mother tongue, Mandarin (Chinese). During my flight on Sichuan Airlines A350, I discovered many unique element to this Panda themed aircraft. Check out the amazing food and beverage offered.
--------
Join me for this very exciting and very cute video detailing my trip within China between Chengdu and Beijing on Sichuan Airlines’ panda route! If you love the docile panda, then this video is for you! The flight is only two and a half hours long but that’s more than enough time for me to enjoy panda heaven in the sky aboard one of two Airbus A350’s used by Sichuan Airlines for this special domestic route, each painted in a cute, cartoon panda livery.
I depart from terminal 3 of Beijing airport with four good friends from the Yitiao Media company who accompanied me on this journey. It’s great to be able to take them along on such a fun themed flight and show them what I do on my in-flight reviews. They’re all armed with their cameras and so, after passing through the strict Chinese airport security (and checking out Beijing airport’s cool karaoke bars!), we’re all set for a panda party in the sky!
After waiting in the exclusive VIP lounge at Beijing airport (with brilliant white walls and deep red carpets) for a little while, my flight is ready to board and I’m overwhelmed by the warm welcome given by the cabin staff. If you thought this was just a regular flight with a light association with pandas, then you’d be very wrong. The panda theme is reinforced everywhere you look with head-rest covers with cartoon pandas on them, members of cabin staff wearing panda badges and panda aprons in the kitchen! To help me drift off to sleep, I’m given a hot steam eye mask which, of course, has panda eyes on the outside to make everyone wearing them look just adorable. Sichuan Airlines have even gone as far as to adopt a panda called “Youyou,” who resides at the Chengdu zoo and who is the official mascot of their panda route.
The on-board experience is extremely pleasing. I am welcomed on board with a special Chengdu tea, which contrasts strongly with the typical welcome drinks of Western airlines like orange juice and champagne – it’s certainly much healthier! I normally drink coca cola during my flight but it’s a good opportunity to give my body a detox with regular sips of Chinese tea throughout the flight.
Even though this is a short domestic flight, the amount and variety of food on offer is both very impressive and very satisfying. Economy class have a choice between pork and bean paste with chilli chicken and rice or the traditional noodle fare with a surprise sauce. For dessert, there’s the cutest, sweet panda buns you ever did see!
I have a wide variety of sides and meals to choose from with fruit, noodles, vegetables, panda rice and fish in a hot chilli sauce all being put before me. I can barely bring myself to eat the dessert – a cake with a cute, icing sugar panda face staring back at me! My meal is finished off nicely with the famous covered tea of Sichuan which symbolises good luck and harmony.
The daily panda route between Beijing and Chengdu has been really well received and Sichuan airlines are reportedly even considering introducing an international panda route between Chengdu and Boston, United States, in the not too distant future.
I feel that Sichuan airlines have really worked hard to make this panda route a fun and engaging flight from start to finish with a lot of attention paid to detail to ensure that the panda theme runs from check in all the way to arrival – they even have panda shaped cushions in the airport lounge!
What did you think of the whole panda route experience? Let me know in the comments section down below and, as always, thanks for watching.
Chinese Street Food INSANE BBQ Tour in Sichuan, China - SZECHUAN SAUCE BBQ Lamb + Sichuan BBQ Rabbit

In this Chinese Street Food BBQ Tour, we're exploring the DEEP back restaurants of Chengdu, China and taking you to experience the AMAZING Szechuan Barbecue restaurants and the sauce and spice that is slathered onto everything you eat here.
If you love spicy Barbeque, you're going to love this video, cause first up, we're going to enjoy a whole bbq lamb, Sichuan style. This bbq lamb is approximately 60-90 days old and is quite enough for 2 - 4 people to eat entirely. It was covered in a thick chili sauce aka SZECHUAN Sauce and tons of chili, salt, cumin, and sichuan peppercorn. The flavour was out of this world! One of the best BBQ lamb you can eat anywhere around the world! The bbq ribs were a little small I must admit, but the rest of the meat was delicious. Watching the rotating meat was so much fun. Much different from your regular grilling meat restaurant.
We watched the whole process of cooking the baby lamb. First, it was put to bbq over the coals. After about 30 minutes, they rubbed a spicy chili oil all over it to change the colour darker red. After that, they took it off briefly and covered it in a Sichuan sesame oil. This was the first coat. After roasting on the BBQ coals for another hour or so, it was taken off and covered in a THICK Sichuan chili oil. This is where a lot of the fragrance and spice comes from. The true SZECHUAN SAUCE! It was covered in a spicy cumin chili combo and then served!
We finished the whole lamb, and then the next day, I continued alone on the Chinese street food BBQ tour. I found a famous joint in Chengdu serving a chengdu traditional food, Sichuan spicy rabbit. Here, 60 day old rabbits are slathered in a spicy chili oil and a similar spice mix, except they are pulled apart with pliers and also covered in a lot of ground peanuts and MSG. Whether you can accept MSG is up to you, but here on the streets, it's used almost everywhere, and I am fine with that.
After that amazing Sichuan BBQ rabbit, I tried another specialty of Chengdu from the same Chinese street food restaurant, Sichuan rabbit head. Actually it was a very similar flavour, just slightly less cumin scented and spicy. Not bad.
To finish up the BBQ tour, I went to a local Muslim Chinese halal food restaurant serving Halal Chinese BBQ Kebabs. Here, the kebabs were covered in a ton of cumin and chili and Sichuan peppercorn and also served with the kaobing, bbq flatbread also covered in a similar spice mix. It was an amazing combo!

Chinese Seafood is some of the best seafood in the world, and today in this Food Ranger video we are bringing you for a $3400 Chinese seafood FEAST in Guangzhou, China! We chose the BIGGEST seafood and had a MASSIVE FEAST of Chinese seafood!
At Hongxing Restaurant, you can choose any seafood you like and order it in many different Chinese cooking styles. For this video, we are choosing 2 of the biggest crabs in the restaurant, cooked 2 different ways! These are probably the BIGGEST crabs in the world! AND, we're choosing a GIANT Lobster too!
The Chinese restaurant also serves many classic Chinese food dishes along with seafood, but for this video, we are taking our guests for $3400 worth of Chinese seafood at one of the most expensive restaurants in China.
It literally is a seafood aquarium , full of exotic seafood from around the world. We're giving you a seafood tour of Hongxing restaurant in Guangzhou, China, and then going into the back kitchen to watch the cooking process, followed by feasting on the most expensive meal of my life! Over 15 KG of seafood!
First, we grab the giant king crab (with giant king crab legs) and giant lobster, and then we go for more exotic seafoods.
We ordered geoduck from Canada, abalone, mantis shrimp, scallops, and water beetles. But the MEGA specialty was of course the king crab and biggest lobster in the world too!
The best part about this whole extreme meal was going into the back kitchen. We watched the entire cooking process and Chinese recipe for the 2 crabs and the 1 lobster. Each crab was cooked differently. The crab was cooked bifengtang style with mountains of garlic and a light touch of chili. The other crab was steamed with garlic. Both were incredibly delicious! The lobster was cooked in a slightly sweet ginger sauce that was also very delicious!
Out of all of these seafoods, my personal favourite was the steamed garlic crab. It was so juicy!

Farmers Market Name: Supo Farmers Market, 苏坡农贸市场
I first found deep fried duck, cooked in a pressure deep frier! Then, right beside that street stall, there was Chinese fried intestines with tons of Sichuan chilies! We also ate some amazing and spicy Sichuan style wraps, some Sichuan spiced soybean starch jelly, and walked through the vegetable and meats area, perfect for picking up the ingredients needed to cook a ton of different Chinese recipes.
After visiting the market, we went to a famous Dan Dan noodle joint in a little alleyway of Chengdu, and tasted a bowl of Sichuan Dan Dan noodles and of course some spicy chili oil wontons! They were so amazingly delicious and fragrant!

Made it to Chengdu china! Spent the day walking the streets and eating some food!
LIFE in CHINA: Super spicy HOT POT! Chinese food/ Chongqing traditions! Travel VLOG(2018)
Our next destination after Panda city Chengdu was Chongqing! There we met with most of the friends of bride and groom. The wedding was supposed to begin next morning and we had some free time.
When we arrived to Jiangjin - a small town next to Chongqing(approx population is 1.5 million people), we were offered to try local traditional food - HOT POT! We tried it before, but according to locals Chongqing hot pot was different, as we are at motherland of this dish.
Also we went out for some areal footage and we found a really cool bridge! You have to see it.

Spicy Sichuan Hot Pot (it's the finale!) // Chengdu: City of Gastronomy 54
Sichuan hot pot is probably the most famous food to come out of Sichuan, China. Some may know it as Chonging hot pot, which was once a city in Sichuan (but is now a municipality). It's where hot pot was invented, but Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, may have taken the hotpot title away from them. You can't toss a numbing peppercorn without hitting a hot pot restaurant in Chengdu.
The mala hot pot is a lava-like broth and oil combination that's infused with the patent Sichuan flavors: mala or numbing spicy. You order up ingredients to cook at your table, as you sweat and slurp back beer. It's a very social meal, so I thought it would be best to get a group of friends together for some banter, a bit of hot pot trivia, and some tasty food.
We ordered all kinds of items including beef, pork, and some offal cuts, which are a must when eating Sichuan style hot pot. Gizzards, stomach, and brain made it's way into the pot - and then into our bellies. We also had some lotus root, mushrooms, meatballs, asparagus lettuce, shrimp dumplings, and plenty more.
Hotpot is a must-eat if you are in Sichuan. Check the notes below to find the perfect place for you. Be prepared to sweat, be prepared to turn red, be prepared to blow your head off, and the following day... be prepared to suffer. An amazing experience like hotpot doesn't come without some suffering.
A big thanks to my homies who put up with my filming while they were sweating and trying to cope with the spiciness.
And also a big thanks to you guys! This is the final episode of Chengdu: City of Gastronomy. I couldn't have done it without your support. Love ya'll.
WHERE TO GET HOT POT IN CHENGDU
You can probably find a place if you take a 3 minute walk. Look for the characters: 火锅 (pronounced Huǒguō) which literally means 'fire pot'.
There are so many good hotpot places that I am reluctant to suggest one.
If you want a centrally located, fairly high-end one that's always great...
大龙燚火锅 - Dà lóng yì huǒguō - Big Dragon Hotpot
Address: 东大街下东大街段166号二层 - Dōng dàjiē xià dōng dàjiē duàn 166 hào èr céng
166 East Main St, 2nd floor
Map:
Cost: approx 100 RMB per person
For a slightly cheaper option that's not as flashy, but has a cool vibe...
有拈头成都市井火锅 - Yǒu niān tóu chéngdū shìjǐng huǒguō
Address: 龙王庙正街17号 - Lóngwáng miào zhèng jiē 17 hào
17 Longwangmiao St
Map:
Cost: approx 70 RMB per person
For a place that's easier to order because you pick out everything yourself from a fridge...
川西坝子火锅 - Chuānxī bàzi huǒguō
Address: 成都琴台路206号 - Chéngdū qín tái lù 206 hào
206 Qingtai Rd
Map:
Cost: approx 90 RMB per person
For the lone wolf that wants a pot to themselves and likes food on conveyor belts...
壹小馆·皇城老妈 - Yī xiǎo guǎn·huáng chéng lǎo mā
Address: 红星路步行街3段1号ifs国际金融中心5层 - Hóngxīng lù bùxíngjiē 3 duàn 1 hào IFS guójì jīnróng zhōngxīn 5 céng
5th floor of the IFS building (the one with the big panda)

In this series, I am eating my way through a deck of cards. I bought a deck of food themed playing cards that feature a different Sichuan dish on every card. Every week I'll shuffle the deck and pick one random card to hunt down and sample. Chengdu was the first Asian city to be named a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. It's full of incredible food - a lot of which you probably don't know about.
Subscribe below to follow along. Better yet, after subscribing hit the bell icon to get notified whenever I post a new video.
The weekly video will be posted every Thursday at 3PM EST until all 54 cards have been tried.

Sichuan Chili Oil - How to Make Spicy, Authentic Red Oil (四川红油)
Sichuan Chili Oil's a basic recipe for a huge number of Sichuan dishes. An often misunderstood ingredient - while this oil's spicy, it's really all about the taste and fragrance of the chilis.
We'll be referring back to this video periodically. For example, a good chili oil forms the basis of the sauce in Dan Dan noodles, which we've linked to at the end of the video.
As always, here's the full detailed recipe on /r/cooking. If you're coming from the future just note that we did this together with the Dan Dan noodle recipe:
Lastly, a huge thank you to Trevor James, a.k.a. the Food Ranger. Because we live in Shenzhen, we didn't exactly have any Chengdu street food B-Roll handy. He was nice enough to give us permission to use some of his clips, so check out the whole video of his Chengdu street food tour: In his videos they go to some of the tastiest restaurants/stalls in China, so give his channel a look if you like food/travel shows.
