An overnight solo backpacking trip to Chilnualna Falls, located in the southern region of Yosemite National Park, California.
The 8.4 mile round trip hike ascends steadily from Wawona 2,300 feet up to Chinnualna Falls - a 240 foot roaring waterfall overlooking the Wowona valley.

A first person shot recording of the hike up near the top of the Chilnualna Falls trail in the Wawona area of Yosemite National Park. The video is a bit shaky, and the commentary isn't the greatest, but I think it provides a cool perspective.

Oh god why have I published this. I sound like such an idiot.
Despite my stupid sounding voice, the views are pretty neat. Who knew that clambering up the boulders in the middle of a stream near the top of a mountain would be a sweet hike?
Mind you, the water level was really low, it was the height of the drought in 2015. I'd bet most of those boulders in the middle of the stream we're climbing over aren't normally that accessible.

A hike to Chilnualna Falls, near Wawona in the southern section of Yosemite National Park. While it wasnt as impressive as some of the major waterfalls in the valley, it was still a massive waterfall and would be far better known had it been located anywhere other then 40 minutes drive from some of the best waterfalls in the world. The walk took about 6 hours return, and was quite pleasant, climbing stedily but not too steeply with several nice views to keep you entertained along the way.

Hiking in Yosemite is a special treat! There is always a new trail to explore. Wawona is no exception. Hiking is king here, too.
Chilnualna falls is a series of cascades and waterfalls The trailhead to the upper falls is a 4.1 mile trek each way. Located in the eastern end of Wawona, this Yosemite National Park trail is also a horse trail too - rare trail indeed..The trailhead elevation is approximately 4,000 feet (1,200 m), and the trail reaches the main portion of the waterfall at 6,200 feet (1,900 m).
It's at the very end of Chilnualna Falls Road and there are plenty of signs directing you towards the start.

Named Cholock by the native Ahwahneechee Indians, Yosemite Falls have three tiers. The Yosemite Falls height is a total of 739 meters from top to bottom. They are the tallest waterfalls in North America, according to official measurements, though that title is somewhat under dispute.
To reach Upper Yosemite Falls, you can hike 3 1/2 miles from the Yosemite Falls trail at Camp 4. Lower Yosemite Falls are easily reached on a short paved trail near the Lodge at Yosemite Falls. This short Yosemite Falls hike is roughly a mile, round trip.
Some interesting Yosemite Falls facts - The natives believed that evil spirits called Poloti lived in the plunge pool at the base of the falls.
Formed by Yosemite Creek, the Falls often dry up by late summer, so it's best to view them in full force during the spring. SUBSCRIBE!

Upper Yosemite Falls in April 2019
Lots and lots of snow. This was a very strenuous hike uphill to the top. The sun melts the snow away from the look out at the top. I’ve seen lots of videos of people freaking out about the railing. They are strong and yes the trail is tiny with a huge drop off but it’s easy.
