We climbed to the top not only once, but twice, because the first time the visibility was not good. We also hiked to the 404 ft waterfall of Hickory Nut Falls...and even played underneath of it's roar! How beautiful was this day!

BHTV: Incredible Views of Chimney Rock State Park
We love giving you an inside look at the many ways there are to enjoy living here. Today, we're at the gorgeous Chimney Rock State Park, which became a state park in 2007 after being family-owned for over a century since 1902.
BHTV: Explore WNC via the Blue Ridge Parkway:
BHTV: Great Smoky Mountains National Park:
BHTV: Celebrating 100 Years of State & National Parks in WNC:
“A visit to Chimney Rock Park gives people the opportunity to see the best of the mountains in one place,” says Mary Jaeger-Gale, general manager of Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. “We have fabulous cliffs, we have a waterfall, we have outstanding views, there's a river at the entrance of the park. The geological and botanical features are incredibly significant. And people can come away not only having had a fabulous mountain experience but learn a lot about why these mountains are so special.”
One of the most popular activities in our region is enjoying the incredible long-range views that we have here. But these views aren't had after a long arduous hike. In fact, they're some of the most accessible in the country. After an elevator ride or a 25-minute hike to the top, you'll be enjoying 75-mile views from one of the most photographed places in all of the southern United States.
“You know the views in Chimney Rock haven't changed over the years,” says Jaeger-Gale. “If you look at pictures in brochures back in the turn of the century. it’s the same. But what the Morse family did and now the state is doing is to continue to provide access to this incredible mountain. Chimney Rock provides opportunities for hiking for folks of all ages and all abilities. If you can't hike, you can take the elevator and enjoy this incredible view, 75 miles into the Piedmont. And if you're really adventurous, we have the ultimate StairMaster. You can hike 491 steps to the Chimney and continue on to Exclamation Point where you get a full view of Hickory Nut Gorge laid out before you. It's incredible.”
“My husband and I have hiked here before,” says one visitor. “We're from Iowa. This time we brought the whole family. My kids made it all the way up to Exclamation Point. It's just gorgeous, the views are amazing, the people are extremely friendly. And then there's even a great place to grab a beverage and some snacks. So, it’s definitely—put it on the map for your trip to North Carolina.”
“Here at the park, I think one thing that people don't know before they get here is that we have ton of stuff for families,” says Emily Walker, education manager of Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. “People think just about the mountain and the stairs and the climb up, but we have a ton going on for kids of all ages, and a big part of that are our animal programs. We have non-releasable wildlife that we use to teach education programs to school kids, summer camps, homeschool families, as well as free family programs all summer long.”
“The state is dedicated to continuing to provide that access that the Morse family did, so that all of us, for generations to come, can enjoy Chimney Rock and all the amenities that it provides,” says Jaeger-Gale.

The Blue Ridge Parkway: America’s Favorite Drive
The Blue Ridge Parkway unravels gracefully across the landscape, at times suspended from high cliffs and etched into rocky crags, then deftly shifting gears to skim over hayfields and past log cabins bound by split-rail fences.
