This train is not new, but at least for me it was :) my first ride on the Fastest transportation from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, and from Shenzhen to Hong Kong...
This was a super cool experience! The train station from my departure was Hong Kong West Kowloon and from there I arrived to Shenzhen North Railway station, which is very popular because many trains will depart from that station in Shenzhen, to different cities around China.
I love to travel in High speed train, because the High speed train station is so cool, clean and amazing, super comfortable, have u ever been traveling in High Speed train in China? Is a super convenient experience compared to traveling in airplane that sometimes can be more troublesome.
High speed train is the specialty in China, you can get almost to any city riding a High Speed train ... or better know in Chinese as ¨Gaotie¨...

Chengguan District (also Lhasa Urban District) is the main urban area or the city proper of Lhasa, which means “city pass district” in Tibetan, referring to the city’s location nestled between two mountain ridges. It is located in the midstream of Lhasa River, the tributary of Yarlung Zangbu River. At the altitude of 3650 meters, Chengguan District covers an area of 523 square kilometers and has a population of 279 thousand(2013). First built in 1740s, it’s a summer resort for emperors to escape the heat and deal with the political affairs.

▪ Potala Palace: As the landmark of Lhasa, Potala Palace can be regarded as the most inposing and magnificent palace at the highest altitude in the world, which is the most brilliant symbol of Tibetan culture.
▪ Jokhang Temple: Known as ‘the eye of Tibet’, it is the activity center for important Buddhist ceremony.
▪ Barkhor Street: The most famous circumanbulation and commercial center.
▪ Norbulingka: First built in 1740s, it’s a summer resort for emperors to escape the heat and deal with the political affairs.
▪ Zongjiao Lukang Park: A good place to shoot the Potala Palace with its shadow in the water.

Chengguan District boasts most of the famous attractions of Lhasa city, such as Potala Palace - famed royal retreat from 17th century, Jokhang Monastery -Buddhist temple with a hallowed shrine, Barkhor Street - the most famous circumanbulation and commercial center, Norbulingka - a summer resort for emperors, etc. The Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the Norbulingka are UNESCO world heritage sites. Besides, there are Ramoche Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, etc.

The Third Millennium marked the inauguration of a unique train, the Tibet Qinghai Express that travels from China to Tibet. A railroad through the Himalayas on the ‘roof of the world’ and the highest railway line on earth that leads through breathtaking landscapes from Peking to Lhasa. The journey lasts about forty eight hours and includes two nights on the train.The journey begins on a road that for much of the time runs close to the railway line and travels across the high mountain passes of the Kulun Mountains and at a height of nearly five thousand metres above sea level is a remote high plateau that lies within an earthquake zone and often encounters severe snow storms. The train winds its way higher and higher from one high plateau to the next up to snow covered mountains and into the “home of the gods“. Along with the Great Wall Of China and the Three Gorges Dam, the Tibet Railroad is one of China’s greatest structures. The trains travel at the highest speeds that are possible on permafrost, a hundred kilometres an hour and sometimes even up to a hundred and twenty! The Tibet Qinghai Express has already turned many dreams into reality and in future years even more passengers will experience this magnificent and unique experience.

Tibet by train from Shanghai to Lhasa // China
Seven hours in tibet is a road movie recorded when I traveled Tibet by train to Lhasa from Shanghai in 48 hours. A great experience towards Tibet and the Himalayas. Since 2008 and the monk revolution, the Chinese regulation only allowed group of 5 people from the same nationality to travel in Tibet but on the first of April 2013, it suddenly all changed...
After one unsuccessfully attempt, I received my travel permit from the Chinese Authorities and was able to go and see one of the most and untouched land on earth. In less than 10 days, I managed to organize my entire trip to Tibet on my own while, usually it would have taken weeks, I was lucky!

A few permits, which can only be obtained from a Chinese travel agency based in China, are required to enter the country. I managed to organise the trip despite of the hassle.
