Chinatown in Singapore - Singapore attractions - Top things to do in Singapore -Travel Vlog
Singapore Travel Vlog. Singapore 4K Videos. We are visiting Singapore´s Chinatown (including Pagoda Street) which also houses the Sri Mariamann Temple (a Hindu Temple) and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum, all of them some of Singapore's Top Attractions! This tour of Singapore´s Chinatown district begins at the main archway to Chinatown at Pagoda Street (the Chinatown shopping street) and South Bridge Road, which is also the location of the Hindu temple which is called the Sri Mariamann Temple.
Before proceeding down the Pagoda Chinatown shopping street we stop to admire the beautifully decorated Sri Mariamann Temple tower. The viewer is then taken on a walking tour down Pagoda Street where they are given an idea of what type of shops are there and the type of restaurants there are to eat at. At the end of Chinatown's Pagoda Street the viewer is given a view of the Chinatown Heritage Center and the location of the Chinatown MRT Station (Mass Rapid Transit - Singapore´s Railway / train system). We (Maxi and Maro) then stop to do some shopping so that we can buy some Bakkwa (Bakkwa, also known as Rougan, is a Chinese salty-sweet dried meat). We then carry on with our tour of Singapore´s Chinatown and walk up Trengganu Street over Smith Street until we arrive at the main Chinatown Food Street. The Chinatown Food street is full of Chinese restaurants offering a diverse selection of Chinese and Singaporean food dishes (Singapore Street Foods). The video footage ends with a tour of Chinatown´s Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum where we go inside and explore the temple and also visit it´s beautiful roof top garden which also houses the Vairocana Buddha Prayer Wheel which is the largest cloisonné Buddha Prayer Wheel in the world.
Chinatown, along with Little India and the Arab Quarter are without doubt some of Singapore´s Top City Attractions.
Wiki writes about the Singapore Chinatown area, Chinatown (Chinese: 牛车水; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Gû-chia-chúi, Malay: Kreta Ayer, Tamil: சைனா டவுன்) is a subzone and ethnic enclave located within the Outram district in the Central Area of Singapore. Featuring distinctly Chinese cultural elements, Chinatown has had a historically concentrated ethnic Chinese population.
As the largest ethnic group in Singapore is Chinese, Chinatown is considerably less of an enclave than it once was. However, the precinct does retain significant historical and cultural significance. Large sections of it have been declared national heritage sites officially designated for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority...
All footage in this video is filmed in Singapore at Chinatown on Pagoda Street and other roads, outside the Sri Mariamann Temple and inside the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum.

CHINATOWN IN SINGAPORE SHOPPING & FOOD STREET
Singapore’s Chinatown Street Market
CHINESE NEW YEAR 2019
Shopping in Chinatown Singapore
Chinatown is so different from the rest of Singapore, It is old, feels like China, Small Building, And things are cheaper, Not cheap but cheaper than the rest of the country. This is a nice big market with lots of selection (some good, Some Not so much). Differently worth a visit if you have a bit of spare time some night.

Chinatown Market at Chinese New Year in Singapore I Chinatown Street Market I
The Chinatown Street Market is one of the best places in the area to get lost. There you are able to find shops selling unique souvenirs, clothing, handicrafts and even homeware items. The streets will be beautifully decorated with New Year decorations plated in gold and red. If you’re there at night, you’ll be able to check out the festive lights along those streets as well. Some stalls stay open all the way till midnight, we can safely conclude that Chinatown, just like Singapore, is an area bustling with life even late at night.

Chinatown Wet Market in Singapore. China Street Food
Chinatown Wet Market is one of the most exotic wet markets in Singapore. Situated at the iconic Chinatown Complex along Smith Street, this wet market still remains its Chinese heritage and cultural elements.
Here you can buy live seafood. Whether you want to find expensive stuff like crabs and lobsters or more affordable ones like cockles, clams and prawns, you can get them at Chinatown Wet Market. The array of big, live crabs and lobsters in plastic crates is impressive.
Here you can also buy exotic meats. Live frogs, eels, catfishes and even turtles are meat ingredients in some special recipes of the locals. If you want to taste something different and delicious without learning any exotic recipes, you can try the popular frog porridge.

The last time I was in Singapore, I didn't get to try a lot of places. So I'm back to redeem myself by going on a street food tour in Singapore Chinatown. I had some delicious noodles and amazing soup dumplings.

Chinatown Singapore Walking Tour | Chinatown Singapore Shopping
Colorful Chinese shophouses selling Asian street food & souvenirs under shaded canopies.
These busy streets encapsulate all the sights and sounds that visitors expect of Chinatown, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from silk robes to lucky cats. There are plenty of ‘Made in China’ goods on display and lanterns swaying in the breeze above your head. There’s also a fantastic range of street food carts amongst the shopping, with fresh dim sum and crispy duck.
Remember to haggle with a smile if you want the best price. The market is open during the day, but it looks its most picturesque at dusk, with the lights shining brightly and the sound of hawkers tempting you to check out their wares.
It should come as no surprise that many of the stalls sell similar types of souvenirs. These range from somewhat tacky silk robes and waving lucky cats to some impressive lacquerware and handmade fans with calligraphy drawn on them. Remember to haggle with a smile if you want the best price.
There’s also a fantastic range of street food carts among the shopping, with fresh dim sum and crispy duck. For the best range of street eats, head to the designated Food Street on Smith Street.
The market is mostly open during the day from around 10am, but it's most picturesque at dusk, with the lights shining brightly and the sound of hawkers tempting you to check out their wares. Just strolling the evening streets is a wonderful experience. The colonial architecture, coupled with the hanging red lanterns, is an unmistakable snapshot of Singaporean culture.
The market starts to wind down around 8pm to 9pm, but some stalls stay open a little later, particularly those selling snacks and drinks.
Location: Pagoda Street, Chinatown, Singapore
Open: Daily from 11am to 11pm

EXPLORING SINGAPORE'S beautiful CHINATOWN at NIGHT
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's walk around the beautiful area of Chinatown in Singapore and let's feel the wonderful culture. Singapore, an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a tropical climate and multicultural population. Its colonial core centers on the Padang, a cricket field since the 1830s and now flanked by grand buildings such as City Hall, with its 18 Corinthian columns. In Singapore's circa-1820 Chinatown stands the red-and-gold Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, said to house one of Buddha's teeth.
