Durand WI Bike Trail 2007
The Pepin County portion of the Chippewa River State Trail commences near the heart of downtown Durand, Wisconsin, and spans seven-miles to the intersection of the Red Cedar State Trail. A mile from downtown at the northeast edge of Durand, the trail passes through Tarrant Park, which
offers a campground, swimming pool, drinking water, picnic and playground
areas, pavilions, and restrooms. From Tarrant Park the trail drops gently down and passes through broad floodplain fields, crosses Bear Creek, and heads into a lush lowland hardwood forest. It then gradually ascends onto a
wide alluvial plain of the Chippewa River passing through a variety of
fields, forest, prairie and wetlands before once again descending down into
the deep woods of the Dunnville Wildlife Area near the junction of the Red Cedar State Trail. -Pepin County Visitor Information call toll-free

State Park next to the city of Cornell, WI. And northeast of Chippewa Falls, WI just off the trail a couple miles is Lake Wissota State Park.
Maps of the trail system can be seen at
The Red Cedar State Trail is 14 miles long. The Chippewa River State Trail
from Durand to downtown Eau Claire is 30 miles long. And from downtown Eau
Claire to Cornell is 32 miles long.
I was able to participate in our State bike trail here in Durand, Wisconsin
USA. Materials were provided so I built and added art work to benches and
signs along the trial. I did most of the photography and made this slide
show video for the Friends of the Pepin County Trail which is the southern
seven mile extension of the Chippewa River State Trail of Wisconsin. -MarkHoagy
