Chippokes Plantation State Park | Travel Vlog
Chippokes Plantation State Park is in Surry County, Virginia, about a one hour drive from Norfolk. I enjoyed this late fall solo trip! The info below is accurate, and apparently there are some smaller building or ruins on the property that date back to the 1600's. My apologies that the dates I verbally stated in the video are incorrect, so please read this description :D The entrance free is 5 dollars per day for parking, as it is for most state parks in Virginia. Camping is available in tents or in four cabins but is not free. Tent campsites start at 30 dollars per night. This park is also a working farm, and as such, having started in 1619, it is one of the oldest farms the oldest farms in the United States. The first English settlement of Jamestown in 1607 is just across from it, along the James River. The farm changed hands over the years, and was used as a secondary plantation without an owner on site in the 17th and 18th centuries. The main mansion building was built in 1854 by Albert C. Jones, who previously used the existing “River House” (built 1830) as his residence. Slaves were present during the pre-Civil War era. Some of the original buildings and ruins remain. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Stewart bought all the property in 1918, and were the final owners who donated the property to Virginia as an agricultural park. One of the rental cabins (built 1850) pre-dates the building of the main mansion building. Various tours are also available, and there are some sweet farm animals and displays around. I visited well-beyond the peak of the season, so it was a quiet and peaceful solo adventure.
More information is available on wikipedia and the brochures for this park.

The Single Life - Chippokes Park Episode 3 | Travel Vlog
One friend egged me on to make a trilogy out of all of my Chippokes Park footage. Dare taken! This final segment shows outtakes from the original film “Chippokes Plantation State Parks,” a most excellent day trip. In this film the rescued footage focuses on the deleted scenes where I started taking about life in general, my likes and dislikes about being single, and relationships, got a little too personal, and other intriguing personal insights! Enjoy it!

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The Plum Tree Island National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge in Poquoson, Virginia, located on the southwestern corner of the Chesapeake Bay. The 3,501-acre (14.17 km2) refuge is located at about the midpoint of the Atlantic Flyway, and is one of four refuges that comprise the Eastern Virginia Rivers National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
Prior to being transferred to the jurisdiction of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in 1972, the preserve's lands were owned by the United States Department of Defense and used as a bombing range. Due to the amount of unexploded ordnance that remains, only the 200-acre (0.81 km2) Cow Island portion of the refuge is open to the public.

Exploring Pocahontas State Park, Virginia
Not long ago, I got a chance to hike around in Pocahontas State Park in Virginia. We checked out a nice trail and ended up at some lake. I have to particularly point out how sad that I am that I did not get video of the cutest horse I've seen in my life while I was walking around... But alas I must move on with my life.
