Caramel + Nuts + Chocolate = Yes, please! // Florentines Recipe from Bake For Syria Cookbook
These aren't your average Florentines, the caramel in these florentines incorporate pomegranate molasses -- giving them an addicting tartness that perfectly compliments the dark chocolate and nuts. They're Syrian-inspired Florentines, a recipe by Jennifer Earle, of London's Chocolate Ecstasy Tours.
Her recipe can be found in the newly released cookbook Bake For Syria, which is a part of the global Cook For Syria movement, which started in London by a group of super awesome foodie influencers, curated by London's famous Instagrammer Clerkenwell Boy (@clerkenwellboyec1).
To make these Syrian Florentines, you'll need to set your oven to 160 degrees celsius/320 degrees F, and then the following ingredients:
40 g walnuts & 40g pistachios, chopped
40g butter
50g sugar
20g pomegranate molasses
20g flour
100g dark chocolate

A girlfriend has sparked heated debate after posting pictures of a cocaine-themed birthday cake she had made for her partner.
Stacey Morris, 22, ordered the cake for boyfriend Ollie - and it came iced with incredibly detailed decorations including lines of fake coke, icing ecstasy tablets and rolled up £50 notes.
While Stacey said it was just a joke, she received thousands of messages after uploading images of the cake to Facebook.
Some people joked that the viral photos had Jeremy Kyle written all over it - but others failed to see the funny side and said it went too far.One woman even said it was bloody disgusting.
While some did not approve, thousands of others thought the creation was brilliant, with many tagging their own friends and requesting something similar for their own birthdays.
Dale Waring wrote: Whoever's slating this needs to not comment lol .
There's over 7 billion people on this planet and we all have different styles of living.
Live life how yah want and don't let no one tell you different and don't put no one down while doing it.
We only have one life so make the most of it . If somebody else's style of living bothers you ignore them don't talk to them.
Others joked that the viral photos had Jeremy Kyle written all over.Stacey, an admin worker from King's Lynn, Norfolk, said: It has always been a joke between us and all our friends because we watch lots of films and programmes about drugs.
So when I was having a cake done and I spotted this idea online it was perfect.
I wanted something different that everyone would remember.
It was a surprise. We had a few friends around for drinks for his birthday and we brought the cake out at midnight.
A few people said to him 'you'll be shocked when you see it' and he had no idea it was going to be like that.
When he saw it he just stood there looking at it. It was really funny.
She added: I put it on Facebook and it has just gone crazy since then with people commenting and stuff.Stacey ordered the cake from a local home baker and gave it to Ollie - who doesn't want to reveal his full name - on Wednesday.
It was supposed to cost £35 but she got it for free when the maker apparently made a mistake with the filling and refused to accept any payment.
The 'powder' was made from icing sugar and the notes were made of sugar paper.

Scottish Food and Edinburgh city tour in Scotland Travel Food Video Transcript:
There is buddy Rob again. Good morning. So it is our second day in Edinburgh and we are starting things off with more food.
Because if there is one thing we're good at it is eating. But we're doing a little bit of walking to get there so it is the perfect compliment this morning. We can't wait to get started.
So Rob what is the tour about today? The tour is basically about cruising through Edinburgh, seeing some nice sights and trying some classic foods. Alright, let's do that. Maybe there is Haggis on the menu.
Haggis!
The first stop the Itchycoo. Let's go in.
Okay, so the first stop of the tour is at the Itchy Coo and we are going to be having some Haggis for breakfast. Are you ready Sam? And starting off with a Virgin Mary. Decided not to make it bloody because it is like ten AM. A bit early to drink. Oh, that is very good. Okay, now let's try the Haggis down here. And it is on looks like it is on a little cracker which is really cool.
So we had Haggis at the first stop and you boys actually ate all of it.
So they gave us little earpieces so we can hear our guide through the traffic and even if we trail behind a little bit. But I feel like we're channeling some serious FBI vibes down the Royal Mile.
So we've made it to our second stop today. Cranachan & Crowdie. Let's try some of these goodies. Yes, so we're starting off with some venison here. With some Ooft! sauce.
Okay, so I'm going for the orkney smoked cheddar. We're going to dip it in chocolate and this chocolate has whisky so. Oh my. I don't think I've ever had chocolate with whisky before.
So that was Cranachan and Crowdie and they have food, drink and gifts from over three hundred suppliers in Scotland. So if you want to get an authentic gift for a friend or family this is a really cool place.
Right now we are heading inside the Fudge House for a little something sweet. Let's do this. And fudge is one of my favorite foods. Also we're going to learn about tablet I think. How much do you like fudge?
So being the fudge fanatic that I am I am very excited to try this. This if you look down here. This is the Scottish Highland cream. So this is one of the most traditional ones you can try. I'll just pop that in my mouth here.
So as part of the tour we get to choose one bar to take with us and eat along the way. And they have over twenty varieties of fudge here so we're struggling.
So we've been having sweet and savory foods. Now it is time to enjoy some drinks.
So this is your little souvenir. Proud of my little souvenir from Campbeltown Loch Scotch Whisky.
And if we haven't been feasting enough it is time for lunch. We're having Scandinavian Scottish fusion Smorgasbord. Alright, this is Hemma. Are you ready for Scandinavian Scottish. I'm ready.
So how was that meal? The meal was fantastic. My favorite things were actually the herring and beetroot salad and that is saying a lot because there were two other salmon dishes that I really liked.
Now the only problem is we thought that was the last stop so we ate a lot and now we're stuffed and apparently there is still beer and cheese ahead.
And you're trying the Ghost Town and this is from the northwest. So it is a porter and let's give it a shot. And apparently it has a bit of a chili infusion so. Let's see if you can taste that.
I do taste a slight bit of that. It is a porter so it is kind of like a Guinness.
So that is wrap from the Edinburgh eat and walk tour. If you're a foodie and you ever find yourself in the city we highly recommend it. Absolutely.
This is part of our Travel in Scotland video series showcasing Scottish food, Scottish culture and Scottish cuisine.

Ted Roberts, a cheeky Chelsea Pensioner takes us inside the Royal Hospital- Londoner #22
Meet Ted, a Chelsea Pensioner and self pronounced 'naughty boy'! How to enjoy life after service is a perennial question for our armed forces, but Ted has found the answer. Visitors to London's stylish Chelsea neighbourhood may have seen these dignified former servicemen and women padding up and down the King's Road, or in the stands at the cup final at Wembley. Ted is a real Londoner (with an eye for mischief) enjoying a palatial retirement in the heart of the London establishment at the Royal Hospital.

I like messing about, I like having a laugh. Life's too short, so if you can make someone laugh every day, you've cracked it. That hat actually is not mine. I had to borrow that off a friend of mine. And that was sliding down me head, that's why I'm laughing. I'm saying 'hurry up and take the photo, it's moving'. Lots of laughs, that's probably why I didn't get promoted. United nations medal, that's the only one I got. I never got my LS&GC because I got a bit of a record. Bit of a naughty boy. And that photo is the wife. God bless her. Yeah, miss her. My ceremonial duties, they mean a lot to me. Because it reminds me of the days when I used to do it in the regular forces. And it's good, I like the uniformity of everything. Retirement's fantastic, as long as you keep active and don't sit about and forget about the world outside. Keep going, or find something to do all the time. Keep your mind active.
The edge between life and death was thin. But then I discovered discipline. I learnt to smile when I felt sad. I learnt to take the good and the bad. I learnt to care a great deal more for the world about me than before. I began to forget the 'me' and 'I' and join in life as it rolled by. This may not mean sheer ecstasy but it's better by far than 'I' and 'me'.
