In this episode I give you a taste of Chumphon as I enjoy a brief wander and some fantastic food. Chumphon is a great jump off point for the Gulf Islands, Tao, Phangan and Samui, but it's also worth a day or two itself, for experiencing provincial Thailand and eating good food. I also had the best (and cheapest) foot massage ever here. Can't remember the name of the place but it's behind the shopping mall.

Southern Thailand is famous for its beautiful islands. From Chumphon on the East Coast and Ranong on the West Coast you can reach most of the popular ones. But what if you stayed on the mainland, focused on these two un-touristic cities and the smaller, less-known islands?
In this video I show you all the sights, highlights and insider tips for Chumphon and Ranong!
Chumphon: Have a traditional Thai breakfast at Chumphons fresh market and visit the local fishermen. Get an overview of the Chumphon region at the Khao Matsee Viewpoint and visit the Prince-of-Chumphon-Shrine. Explore the islands of the Mae Koh Chumphon National Park and check out the mangrove forest. Join the locals in cooking delicious Thai meals in Bang Mak and enjoy the prettiest beach of the area, Thung Wa Laen. Feast on fruits and dried fish before heading over to Ranong.
Ranong: Soak in the hot springs of Ranong after a morning bike ride. Visit the islands of the Laem Son National Park, especially the stunning view of Koh kam Tok. Let Gong from Gong Coffee explain to you what makes good coffee good coffee and enjoy a cashewnut shake afterseeing the roasting process. Visit the small villages and experience the authentic Thai lifestyle. Learn how to make your own ceramic in hat Som Paen and visit Ranong's 100-year-old house. Chumphon Thai: ชุมพร is the first Southern town of Thailand. Mainly known as a transit town taking travelers to and from Ko Tao or west towards Ranong or Phuket,
While there’s not a lot to do in Chumphon while you wait for your ferry, there are things to do and see around Chumphon and in town. The surrounding beaches are great places to get off the beaten path. Hat Thung Wua Laen (15km north of town) is an excellent beach with plenty of traveler amenities.
As a transit hub, Chumphon is is a jump poff point. But note the main bus station and piers for boats to Ko Tao, Ko Samui and Ko Pha-Ngan are some distance from town.
Some facts: Transport Air Chumphon Airport is 30 km north of Chumphon City. Flights from Bangkok are around 60 minutes. Snorkeling and diving can be found around the 44 islands. Muslim headscarves are a common sight here.

Pak Klong located in the north of Chumphon Province is my 8️⃣th spot. That province is unknown of tourists which is a very good thing, moreover there are many nice places and the countryside is beautiful. It is a great choice for relaxing, spend a good time and meet the friendly locals. ????????????????????????️

Goodbye Hua Hin, Hello Chumphon
Hua Hin to Chumphon by train. Ticket cost 423 baht and took about 3 hours. I stopped in Chumphon for a few nights because i didn't want to travel the full distance to my next destination, Surat Thani. However, on the train ride i had some time to think and decided i might travel to Ranong so i can visit a small island named Koh Phayam. Another option i have is visit Koh Tao by ferry which is located in the Chumphon province.

Koh Phitak, Chumphon, Thailand is a fisherman village with less than 20 houses and most of them turned themselves to be authentic Thai island homestay. We spent a night at Ban Kiang Lay homestay for 600 THB each with all the food and boat rides included.
So peaceful and so pretty. All the seafood is real fresh too and that's a HUGE plus. Loved it a lot there!
