The Chocolatería San Ginés is a café at Pasadizo de San Ginés, 5, in central Madrid, in a passageway close to San Ginés church, west of the Puerta del Sol. It has served principally chocolate con churros (hot chocolate and churros) since 1894. Coffee and cakes are also available.
The interior is decorated with mirrors and green wood panels, with green velvet seats and marble tables. The hot chocolate is served in Spanish style - thick, dark and strong - and the churros - deep fried batter, similar to a light, crispy, linear doughnut, cut to length by the staff - are served hot and freshly cooked, ready for dunking.

Information About The Old Bookshop of San Ginés in Madrid
If you've clicked on this video, you must be asking yourself what to see in Madrid? Well, here's something you cannot miss on your tour. That's the old bookshop of San Ginés.
This is a picturesque bookshop in central Madrid, close to the historic church of San Ginés. Adorned with wooden shelves, clay tiles and, of course, old books. Many of them are about Madrid and prices are usually really low.
The street on which this library is located is, in fact, a place that has a lot to do with Literature. In the theater play, 'Bohemian Lights', by Valle-Inclán, the main character Max Estrella, a decrepit journalist, used to come to the chocolate shop San Ginés. It is called in the book 'Buñolería Modernista'. Today, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and they serve the typical doughnut of Madrid, the churros which is made with flour, water, salt and sugar.

Puerta Del Sol And Calle Arenal – Calle Arenal 1 – Madrid – Audio Guide – MyWoWo Travel App
Calle Arenal was Madrid's main street in the nineteenth century, the so-called Elizabethan period.
Leave Plaza de Isabel II with the queen's statue behind you, and proceed down this pedestrian street which is less hectic than the nearby Calle Mayor. You're passing the bars and clubs that replaced the literary cafes of the late 1800s.
Now pause the audio and go to the corner of Calle Bordadores.
In the second half of the 1800s in exactly this spot, King Amadeo of Savoy was attacked, who was the son of the first king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele. The king wasn't injured, but after a few months he decided to give up the throne of Spain anyways. The church you can see is Iglesia de San Ginés, and is one of the oldest in Madrid. It has a troubled history and has suffered two fires, one in the mid 1600s and the other at the beginning of the 19th century. Of the original church, the only part still standing is the chapel of the Congregación del Santísimo Cristo.
Opposite the church's facade, if you look towareds Calle San Martín you can catch a glimpse of the walls and door of the noble convent of cloistered nuns called Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales in the distance, which is one of the most important religious points of Madrid.
Now pause the audio and go to Pasadizo de San Ginés…

Husos adds plant-filled bathyard to apartment in Madrid
This movie shows an apartment in Madrid renovated by Husos. Sliding transparent partitions and a fold-out bench allow the bathroom within this Madrid apartment to become a communal area for all the family to relax.
Local architecture studio Husos renovated the apartment for a woman whose sons who are about to leave home. Having lived in the suburbs for several years, she decided to move back to the city.
Her main requests included a spacious bathroom, a living room where she could watch movies with her family, and space for her large collection of plants.
In order to fulfil her requirements, Husos came up with the idea of creating a bathyard – a bathroom which can transform into a space suitable for other activities.
The bathyard is a space whose character can be negotiated and altered by the users by sliding transparent partitions and opening out a folding bench, said the architects.
It is a place where different activities can overlap and be shared, such as trying on clothes, enjoying breakfast, or having a conversation while one is taking a bath and the other is sitting on the folding bench, they added.
Before the renovation, the apartment was a largely dark space – with the exception of one window looking onto an interior patio that served as a corridor and storage area.
To create the bathyard area, the architects removed a series of partitioning walls – including one that separated the interior patio from the rest of the property.
The space that generates a new 'exterior' inside the apartment and lends passive thermal and light comfort to the entire home, said the architects.
