Lake Martin is a bald cypress - tupelo swamp and bottomland hardwood forest habitat, of which 9,500 acres are protected and maintained by the Nature Conservancy. The swamp is located within the Cypress Island Preserve, in Saint Martin Parish, between Breaux Bridge and Lafayette in Southwest Louisiana. The spectacular wading bird rookery supports thousands of nesting birds each spring. Shown in this video clip include nesting and fledgling little blue herons (juveniles are white), roseate spoonbills, great egrets; and a black-crowned night heron. Filmed on May, 30th 2010, by Suzanne Fredericq.
KLFY TV-10 Hello Acadiana image campaign 1995--Hello St. Martin Parish
Here is one of likely many image campaigns from KLFY, the CBS affiliate in Lafayette, LA, when it used the Hello News (Hello Acadiana) image campaign/news theme from ca. 1982 until 2005. All copyrights acknowledged. This one aired in October/November 1995 showing many sites in and around St. Martin Parish, which is to the east (and southeast) of Lafayette. Locations include, but are not limited to: Evangeline Oak, Longfellow-Evangeline State Commemorative Area, St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, Thibodeaux's Cafe (all in St. Martinville), Bruce Foods in Cade, the Butte la Rose exit off I-10 on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, Pat's Restaurant and McGee's Landing in Henderson, Cecilia High School in Cecilia, Bayou Boudin and Crackin and Mulate's and Country Oaks in Breaux Bridge. By Frank Gari/Gari Media Group and sung by Florence Warner.
There's a difference in the air, it's knowing that we care in Acadiana.
Here we dream our yesterdays and tomorrow's Cajun ways in Acadiana.
From the offshore's surging tide to a quiet bayou side in a world of joie de vivre,
From the live oak's cooling shade to the southern sunlight's state where your good neighbors never leave
Makes no difference where I go, you're still the best home I know
Hello Acadiana, Hello Acadiana
TV 10 loves you!
