#VisitBaška: History
The church of St. Lucy was built on the remains of an early Christian church at the turn of the 13th century. It is the most significant church, not only in the area and on the island, but in Croatia, as the famous and invaluable Baška Tablet from the year 1100 was found there.
The Baška Tablet is a national monument, significant for the Croatian nation. It is a Glagolitic inscription, a document consisting of 13 lines carved in stone. The text documents a donation from the Croatian king Zvonimir (1075-1089) to the church of St.Lucy in Jurandvor, where the Baška Tablet was found inserted in the church floor. It was found by Petar Dorčić, the local priest, in 1851.

Crkva sv. Lucije sagrađena je na prijelazu iz 11. u 12. st. na ostacima ranokršćanske crkve. Najznamenitija crkva ovog područja, kao i cijeloga otoka Krka i Hrvatske, jer je u njoj pronađena čuvena i vrijedna Bašćanska ploča iz 1.100. godine. Danas se u crkvi nalazi i kopija Bašćanske ploče.
Bašćanska ploča nacionalni je spomenik kulture hrvatskog naroda. Predstavlja glagoljski natpis, ispravu isklesanu u 13 redaka teksta koji govori o darovnici hrvatskog kralja Zvonimira (1075-1089) crkvi Sv. Lucije u Jurandvoru, gdje je i Bašćanska ploča i pronađena umetnuta u crkveni pločnik.
Ploča je pronađena 1851. godine, zahvaljujući bašćanskom kleriku Petru Dorčiću.

Jurandvor is a village in Croatian island Krk, placet on the end of island, before Baška and after Draga Baščanska on D102 highway.
Jurandvor was founded in the 16th century and consists of the settlements of Čubranići and Juranići
Jurandvor is known as the place where the Bašćanska Tablet was found. It was found in 1851 in the church of St. Lucia.
In the center of the settlement, in the old core of Juranic, is Jurin Dvor, after which the settlement was named.
Near Jurandvor in the Goričica area is one of the oldest pilgrimage shrines in Croatia and the largest in Krk, the shrine of Majke Božje Goričke.

Krk is an ideal holiday destination for everyone who loves cycling. There are miles and miles of nice cycling tracks through the woods or by the sea.
Baska is located in the valley of the same name at the very southeast of the island of Krk in Croatia. The best-known feature of the city is its 1800 meters long pebble beach, the longest, and the largest one on part of the Adriatic sea. Of historical and cultural monuments there is church of St. Lucia with the Bašćanska ploča

The “golden island”, as the island of Krk has been called since ancient times, is the nearest island to western Europe. We do not consider it an island so much anymore because it has been connected with mainland since 1980 a 1400m long bridge made of reinforced concrete. Krk has approximately 16500 year round inhabitants in seventy different settlements.
The island Krk has many different landscapes . The north part of the island is almost bare because of the strong wind called “bura” (Italian: bora) while the southern part abounds with greenness and gentle bays. Inland, rocky hills alternate with fertile fields. This sort of relief favorably provides for the cultivation of grapes and the production of the well-known wine “Vrbnička Žlahtina.”
Croatia has a long tradition of naturist tourism, creating an image of an ideal naturist destination by organisation and construction of adequate specialized buildings and facilities.

Собор обычно называют по имени святого Домна (Katedrala Sv. Duje, хорв. Dujam, хорв. Duje), бывшего в III веке епископом Салоны, хотя ему посвящена лишь колокольня собора, а храм посвящён Деве Марии. Епископ Домн в числе других христиан стал мучеником в ходе гонений христиан при Диоклетиане в 303—304 годах.
Собор находится в центре Диоклетианова дворца, его фасад обращён к западу и выходит на перистиль дворца. Сплитский собор состоит из трёх частей, построенных в разные эпохи. Основная часть храма — восьмиугольный в плане бывший мавзолей императора Диоклетиана, возведённый на стыке III и IV веков. Хоры собора построены в XVII столетии. Высокая колокольня рядом с собором была возведена в 1100 году и перестроена в 1908 году. Несмотря на различие эпох, все части собора построены из одних материалов — туфа, добытого в местных реках и белого известняка с острова Брач.
Несмотря на переделку здания бывшего мавзолея в христианский собор, архитектура строения и ряд элементов интерьера сохранились неизменными. Два ряда колонн внутри собора поддерживают богато декорированные фризы. В римскую эпоху купол мавзолея был украшен мозаикой, однако от неё ничего не осталось. Саркофаги императорской четы располагались в центре сооружения, они были уничтожены в VII веке. На фризе под куполом сохранились барельефы Диоклетиана и его жены Приски в лавровых венках.
Из числа предметов искусства христианского периода особо ценны деревянные дверные створки XIII века при входе в церковь. Они имеют размеры 5,3 на 3,6 метра и богато украшены гравировкой. На каждой створке выгравировано по 14 сцен из жизни Христа, все изображения окаймлены сложным орнаментом. Каменная кафедра слева от входа выполнена в XIII веке в романском стиле. В боковой часовне Св. Дуэ в юго-восточной нише собора находится готический алтарь XV века, авторства Бонино из Милана. Алтарь часовни Св. Станислава в северо-восточной нише с резным рельефом, изображающим бичевание Христа, выполнен Юраем Далматинцем. Северный алтарь более поздний, создан в 1767 году Г. Морлаитером в стиле барокко. Главный алтарь собора создан одновременно с хорами в XVII веке.
Крипта собора также имеет римское происхождение, в христианский период здесь была устроена часовня Святой Луции.
В сокровищнице собора хранится богатая коллекция предметов церковного искусства: ковчеги с мощами, иконы и т. д. Кроме того в собрании представлено большое количество ценных средневековых книг и рукописей.
В память Святого Дуйма ежегодно 7 мая совершается крестный ход вокруг Сплита. Литургию служат на церковно-славянском, по глаголическим книгам. При титовской власти крестный ход совершался только вокруг Сплитского собора, вокруг города было запрещено.
