Muslims oppose church bells
The Muslim community in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region is opposing plans to include church bells in a proposed new regional anthem. Local authorities had earlier set a competition to compose an anthem for the region.
Amazing and incredible, crazy church bells music played by a Russian Priest - epic!

Kant of the New Jerusalem Monastery (XVII c.)
The New Jerusalem Monastery was founded in 1656 by Patriarch Nikon as a patriarchal residence in the vicinity of Moscow. The monastery took its name from the concept of New Jerusalem. This site was chosen for its resemblance to the Holy Land. The River Istra represents the Jordan, and the buildings represent the 'sacral space' or holy places of Jerusalem.
In his time, Patriarch Nikon recruited a number of monks of non-Russian origin to populate the monastery, as it was intended to represent the multinational Orthodoxy of the Heavenly Jerusalem.
In the 17th century, the New Jerusalem Monastery owned a large library, compiled by Nikon from manuscripts taken from other monasteries. By the time of the secularisation of 1764, the monastery possessed some 13,000 peasants.
In 1918, the New Jerusalem Monastery was closed down. In 1920, a museum of history and arts and another of regional studies were established on the premises of the monastery. In 1935, the Moscow Oblast Museum of Regional Studies was opened in one of the monastic buildings.
In 1941, the German army ransacked the New Jerusalem Monastery. Before their retreat they blew up its unique great belfry, the towers were demolished, the vaults of the cathedral collapsed and buried its famous iconostasis, among other treasures .
However in 1959, the museum was re-opened to the public.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the New Jerusalem Monastery was handed back to the Orthodox Church.
In March 2009 Russian president t Dmitry Medvedev signed a presidential decree on the restoration and renovation of the New Jerusalem Monastery. By June 2016, the main cathedral had been greatly restored and redecorated and the great belfry was rebuilt, to the original plans
Russia: Holy relics given cosmonauts to boost spirits during ISS mission
Parts of the holy relics of Saint Seraphim of Sarov were handed to the Russian cosmonauts from the Cosmonauts' Training Centre, who will take them to the International Space Station (ISS) to protect the expedition members and strengthen their spirit, during a service in the village of Diveyevo, Friday. The official ceremony took place in the Seraphim-Diveyevo Convent.
SOT, Sergei Zalyotin, Russian cosmonaut (Russian): For us, cosmonauts, today is a saint event. It strengthens our spirit. This campaign will to some extent avert Russian people from the militant atheism and make us close to real faith.
SOT, Sergei Zalyotin, Russian cosmonaut (Russian): The relics will be packed in a soft box and the ISS Commander will carry them during the expedition.
SOT, Metropolitan Georgi of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas (Russian): The cosmonauts have addressed the church and asked to bless part of holy relics of Saint Seraphim of Sarov. They have an intention to take it to the International Space Station and conduct a special prayer there.

OMSK - Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God ( Assumption Cathedral)
One of the most marvelous city cathedrals — the Cathedral of the Assumption — suffered a complicated destiny. The necessity to build this cathedral appeared in 1879 when the Omsk clergy decided to widen the Resurrection Cathedral which was too small for all the congregations coming to services. The General-Governor of Western Siberia G. Mescherinov proposed to build a new cathedral instead of widening the old one. On July 16 (28), 1891, the future Emperor Nicholas II took part in the ceremony of laying the foundation of the Assumption Cathedral.
The laying of the cathedral was carried out by Nizhny Novgorod bricklayers. The building was made of red bricks, plastered outside; interiors were decorated with frescos and stucco ornaments. In 1898 nine bells were hoisted and three altars were consecrated: the high altar in the name of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the southern and northern altars — in the names of Nicholas the Wonderworker and Mary Magdalene respectively.
The building was erected mostly due to donations of the townspeople, Russian merchants and Emperor Nicholas II; some funds were contributed by the State treasury. In total 125,000 Rubles were spent on building. Assumption Cathedral was dedicated on September 9 (21), 1898. Built in the open territory of a big town square, the Assumption Cathedral could easily be seen from every angle, and it made a lasting impression on visitors and onlookers.
In the 1930s — as a result of mass antireligious campaigns echoed all over the country — the Cathedral was blown up. In 2005 during a regular session of the Government of Omsk Region a decision was made to restore this wonderful religious building. On October 14, 2005, on the most important Orthodox Church feast — Intercession of the Theotokos — the first foundation stone of the restored cathedral was laid. On July 15, 2007, the Assumption Cathedral opened its doors for the church community.

The Cathedral of the Resurrection, Arzamas, Nizhny Novgorod Province.
This beautiful fibs-domed cathedral is a fine example of the classicism style. The Cathedral was built by M. P. Corinth as a memorial to the victory over Napoleon in 1812. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1840. Closed in 1932, the building housed an Anti-Religeous museum. In 1944 the cathedral was returned to the orthodox Church with the personal intervention of the Patras. Sergius Stragorodsky, who was from Arzamas.
