Explore EU: Prague, Czech Republic
The country that was filled with history and stunning architectural structures. Welcome to Prague, Czech republic.
I had been living for almost a month in Czech Republic and one of the things that I'm astounded about this place is their modern history and architecture. Walking along the capital city - Prague, you would immediately sense how they maintain their country to be known for Baroque and Gothic churches, Castles and Palaces, Medieval astronomical clock and also the founder of the brewery. In this short video, you will see the famous tourist spots in Prague. Locals and myself preferred to walk along the main city to see their hidden gems and also to explore more about the country. But if you do not prefer to walk, you can ride a tram- the most convenient vehicle; a train or a bus. Bear in mind that their ticket or the fare will depend on how long you will use or you will ride. You can buy a ticket that is good for 30mins, 90mins., 24hrs. Or even for 3days and it can be used to all of those vehicles depending on your prefered ride. The ticket can be bought to an auto-machine, train station, and a few stores along with the city. And since we’re in different country, I prefer to taste the local food or their traditional cuisine. In the city, you can find a lot of Trdelník, a traditional bread made up of rolled dough that was grilled and topped with sugar and walnut powder. It almost tastes like a Cinnamon rolled bread. Various of flavor and toppings are available for trdelník, depending on your taste buds????
So if you wanted to visit Prague, here are the places that you might wanna visit:
Astronomical Clock
One of the oldest astronomical clock in the world that’s still operating is located in the central part of Prague. The clock was installed since 1410 and has a unique mechanical design of astronomical dial representing the sun and the moon; zodiac information and a mini theatre where the wooden figures of the 12 apostles show up every hour on the hour. So if you wanna see The walk of the Apostles mini-show, try to visit on the hour between 9 am to 10 pm
Old town square
Located between Wenceslas Square and Charles Bridge and covering an area of over 9 thousand square meters, the Old Town Square is bordered by many interesting historical buildings and is definitely one of the top “must-see” places to visit when you travel to the Czech Republic. When you go there, reserve a lot of time, because there is so much to see and do at the square.
Charles Bridge
A bridge that crosses the Vlatava river in Praguě. It is the considered to be the most important bridge in Prague as it became a trade route between the Eastern and the Western Europe. It also connects the Old town Square and the Prague castle
Wenceslas Square
Named after the patron Saint of Bohemia Saint Wencelas is formerly known as the market horse during the middle ages. Today the city square is the commercial and administrative center of the city as it is surrounded by cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, and cafés and many more. Wenceslas square is also a popular place for Christmas markets and New year celebration held every year starting early December to the first week of January.
Prague Castle
A place of the former Bohemian King, Holy Roman Emperor and the current president of Czech republic was seated. This place is the city’s most visited spot and was acknowledged by the Guinness book of world record as the largest ancient castle in the world. Inside the castle, you can see the cathedral of St. Vitus, St. Wenceslas and St. Adalbert, the Bohemian Crown jewels that have been preserve since 1791; the Old Royal Palace, Vladislav hall, Royal garden, Queen Anne’s Palace and the Golden Gate.

TRIP TO PRAGUE - CZECH REPUBLIC
Prague (play /ˈprɑːɡ/; Czech: Praha pronounced [ˈpraɦa] ( listen)) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic.[4] Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava river, the city is home to about 1.3 million people, while its metropolitan area is estimated to have a population of over 2.3 million.[5] The city has a temperate oceanic climate with warm summers and chilly winters.
Prague has been a political, cultural and economic centre of Europe[citation needed] and particularly central Europe[citation needed] during its 1,100 year existence. For centuries, during the Gothic and Renaissance eras, Prague was the permanent seat of two Holy Roman Emperors and thus was also the capital of the Holy Roman Empire.[6][7] Later it was an important city in the Habsburg Monarchy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire,[citation needed] and after World War I became the capital of Czechoslovakia. The city played major roles in the Protestant Reformation, the Thirty Years' War, and in 20th-century history, during both World Wars and the post-war Communist era.

Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Prague has become one of Europe's (and the world's) most popular tourist destinations. It is the sixth most-visited European city after London, Paris, Rome, Madrid and Berlin.[31] Prague suffered considerably less damage during World War II than some other major cities in the region, allowing most of its historic architecture to stay true to form. Some popular sights include:

Czech documentary about the history and origin of Prague
Despite the city's turbulent history, Prague's progress in recent years has been more stately than revolutionary. The booming tourism sector and a solid industrial base have left its citizens in better economic shape than the rest of the country. Unemployment is minimal, the shops are full, and façades that were crumbling a decade ago have been given face-lifts. Big new shopping malls and multiplex cinemas are popping up all over the place, there's a huge new sporting and events arena, the metro system is being extended and a new floodprotection system has been installed.
There are downsides, of course. Rumours of corruption in City Hall are rife, affordable housing remains in short supply, the health system is under strain, and traffic congestion and crime rates are up. Despite this, the mood of the city remains buoyant.
Václav Havel's 13 years as president came to an end in February 2003, when his place was taken by hard-nosed, right-wing economist Václav Klaus. More change was to come: the decision on whether the Czech Republic should join the European Union was settled by a referendum - with 77% voting in favour - and on 1 May 2004 the Czech Republic became a member of the EU.
