Bruxelles ville en images - Brussel gefilmde stad (dvd CINEMATEK)
release: 28.11.2014

CLIP La Belgique Martyre (Charles Tutelier - 1919)
LA BELGIQUE MARTYRE (“The Martyrdom of Belgium”) by Charles Tutelier was the first Belgian feature on the Great War made shortly after it ended in 1918, and well before the signing of the Versailles Treaty. Taking the Belgian war experience as its theme, the film is characterized by uncompromised patriotism and strong anti-German sentiments, with a remarkable focus on female heroism.
The film was restored by CINEMATEK and digitized in 2013, and HERMESensemble and composer Hanne Deneire created a new soundtrack for the entire picture.
