Brownfield Flip - Uptown at River's Edge in Bay City
For years, the blighted hulk of the old Industrial Brownhoist factory, once a major local employer, sat empty. A 43-acre contaminated site doesn’t get redeveloped overnight. Bay City’s perseverance, and financial incentives and technical assistance from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, helped clean up and safely reuse this brownfield site. Uptown at River’s Edge is now a beautiful riverfront development with a marina, hotel, restaurants, offices, and condominiums.

The City of Baltimore 2012 (scenes)
Baltimore is the largest city in the U.S. state of Maryland. It is located in the central area of the state along the tidal portion of the Patapsco River, an arm of the Chesapeake Bay. The independent city is often referred to as Baltimore City to distinguish it from surrounding Baltimore County.
Founded in 1729, Baltimore is the largest seaport in the Mid-Atlantic United States and is situated closer to Midwestern markets than any other major seaport on the East Coast. Baltimore's Inner Harbor was once the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States and a major manufacturing center. After a decline in manufacturing, Baltimore shifted to a service-oriented economy. Baltimore is the largest city in the U.S. state of Maryland. 1950s STORY OF THE U.S. MAIL USPS PROMOTIONAL FILM LETTER SORTING & DELIVERY 64334
This 1950s color film is an educational public service announcement by the U.S. Postal Service. The film was produced by Lewis & Martin Films Inc. The focus of this film is to educate viewers on postal automation technology. The film begins with a vintage post office seal, followed by Arthur Summerfield, the Postmaster General from 1953-1961 under President Eisenhower, who speaks briefly about the mail service (0:42-1:30). Mail is dropped in and picked up from different mailboxes, including in a dual Local and Out of Town mailbox (1:31-1:58). Workers sort mail and boxes (1:59-2:17). New home construction is briefly showcased, including model homes (2:18-2:38). An aerial view shows a large factory and work trucks (2:39-2:54). Vintage illustrations show the U.S. map, as well as an overstuffed post office bursting at the seams and sending mail flying (2:55-3:30). A woman walks into a vintage “Victorian elegant” post office lobby (4:02-4:17). Men push carts and toss packages in a postal processing facility, letters are sorted into city boxes by hand, and packages from a mountain of boxes are tossed into hampers (4:18-5:00). The Transorma Letter Sorting Machine, the first implementation of a semiautomatic mail sorter, is operated by five clerks. Mail is shown being sorted by hand for contrast (5:01-5:43). An automated conveyor belt system is demonstrated, moving mail to different area (5:45-6:38). Boxes are moved down a conveyor belt where a keyboard operator punches in the address area for automatic sorting (6:39-7:14). A postman walks his route and delivers mail. 1950s post office trucks drop off packages (7:15-8:13). A carrier uses an experimental, three-wheeled post office truck (8:14-8:30). A postman pushes a postal cart down the sidewalk, delivering mail (8:31-8:40). The first version of a modern post office layout is shown, including the 24x7 lobby (8:41-9:13). Innovations such as early automated stamp machine, the post office lockbox, and the presence of ballpoint pens are briefly showcased (9:14-9:35). A woman prepares business mail and bundles mail with pressure-sensitive tape, dropping them into a triple-section mailbox (9:36-10:54). An experimental automatic culling machine, an automatic canceling machine, an electronic scanner that reads typed and printed addresses, and a code control machine are demonstrated. Researchers experiment with different mail automation ideas (10:55-13:10). Postmaster General Arthur Summerfield speaks to the camera to conclude the film (13:11-14:33).

New Orleans 4K - World's Longest Bridge - Lake Pontchartrain Causeway
9,500 concrete pilings, 5 ft wide each, across 24 miles of water! This is a little different from my driving in cities content but I couldn't resist publishing this video. I'd like to experiment with more infrastructure related videos. Let me know in the comments if you like it!
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is a fixed link composed of two parallel bridges crossing Lake Pontchartrain in southern Louisiana, United States. The longer of the two bridges is 23.83 miles (38.35 km) long. The bridges are supported by 9,500 concrete pilings. The two bridges feature a bascule, which spans the navigation channel 8 miles (13 km) south of the north shore.
Since 1969, it was listed by Guinness World Records as the longest bridge over water in the world; in 2011, in response to the opening of the longer Jiaozhou Bay Bridge in China, Guinness World Records created two categories for bridges over water: continuous and aggregate lengths over water. Lake Pontchartrain Causeway then became the longest bridge over water (continuous) while Jiaozhou Bay Bridge the longest bridge over water (aggregate).
New Orleans is the largest city located in the Gulf Coast region of the southern United States. New Orleans is world-renowned for its french style, distinct music, Creole cuisine, unique dialect, and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras. The historic heart of the city is the French Quarter, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture and vibrant nightlife along Bourbon Street. The city has been described as the most unique in the United States, owing in large part to its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage.
Tourism
New Orleans has many visitor attractions, from the world-renowned French Quarter to St. Charles Avenue, (home of Tulane and Loyola Universities, the historic Pontchartrain Hotel and many 19th-century mansions) to Magazine Street with its boutique stores and antique shops.
According to current travel guides, New Orleans is one of the top ten most-visited cities in the United States; 10.1 million visitors came to New Orleans in 2004.
A 2009 Travel + Leisure poll of America's Favorite Cities ranked New Orleans first in ten categories, the most first-place rankings of the 30 cities included. According to the poll, New Orleans was the best U.S. city as a spring break destination and for wild weekends, stylish boutique hotels, cocktail hours, singles/bar scenes, live music/concerts and bands, antique and vintage shops, cafés/coffee bars, neighborhood restaurants, and people watching.
The French Quarter (known locally as the Quarter or Vieux Carré) contains popular hotels, bars and nightclubs. Notable tourist attractions in the Quarter include Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, the French Market (including Café du Monde, famous for café au lait and beignets) and Preservation Hall.
Founded in 1718 by the French, New Orleans was once the territorial capital of French Louisiana before being traded to the United States in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. New Orleans in 1840 was the third-most populous city in the United States. The city's location and flat elevation have historically made it very vulnerable to flooding. State and federal authorities have installed a complex system of levees and drainage pumps in an effort to protect the city.
Driving Downtown – Baltimore St – Baltimore Maryland
Baltimore is the largest city in the State of Maryland, the largest independent city in the United States, and the 26th-most populous city in the country. It is located in the central area of the state along the tidal portion of the Patapsco River, an arm of the Chesapeake Bay. The independent city is often referred to as Baltimore City to distinguish it from the surrounding Baltimore County. Founded in 1729, Baltimore is the second largest seaport in the Mid-Atlantic United States and is situated closer to Midwestern markets than any other major seaport on the East Coast.[17] Baltimore's Inner Harbor was once the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States and a major manufacturing center.[18] After a decline in major manufacturing, industrialization and rail transportation, Baltimore shifted to a service-oriented economy, with the Johns Hopkins Hospital (founded 1889), and Johns Hopkins University (founded 1876), now serving as the city's top two employers.[19]
With a population of 622,104 as of July 1, 2013, Baltimore increased by 762 residents over the previous year, ending over six decades of population loss since its peak in 1950. The Baltimore Metropolitan Areahas grown steadily to approximately 2.7 million residents in 2010; the 20th largest in the country.[20] Baltimore has the second largest population (after Washington, D.C.), and is a principal city in, the greaterBaltimore–Washington metropolitan area with a total of approximately 9.44 million residents (as of 2013 estimates).[21]
With hundreds of identified districts, Baltimore has been dubbed a city of neighborhoods, and has been more recently known as Charm City, to go along with its older moniker of The Monumental City (coined by sixth President John Quincy Adams in 1827), and its more controversial 19th-century sobriquet of Mobtown. The talents of writers Edgar Allan Poe and H.L. Mencken, jazz musician James Eubie Blake and singer Billie Holiday, as well as the city's role in the War of 1812 and Francis Scott Key's writing of The Star-Spangled Banner, which later became the American national anthem, have all contributed to the city's historical importance.[22]
According to the Brookings Institution, almost a quarter of the jobs in the Baltimore region are science, technology, engineering and math positions. The Baltimore area is known for health and science, which is in part attributed to the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, with its extensive undergraduate and graduate schools, the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and other smaller schools such as the University of Baltimore, the suburban University of Maryland-Baltimore County, (in Catonsville), Loyola University, Notre Dame University Maryland, Stevenson University, (formerly Villa Julie College – in suburban Stevenson),Goucher College, (in suburban Towson), and the Maryland Institute College of Art.[22]

Downtown Baltimore is the central business district of Baltimore traditionally bounded by Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to the west, Mt. Royal Avenue to the north, President Street to the east and the Inner Harborarea to the south. It consists of five neighborhoods: Westside, Mount Vernon, City Centre, Inner Harbor, and Camden Yards. It is the focal point of business in the Baltimore metropolitan area with over 100,000 employees.[citation needed] It has also increasingly become a heavily populated neighborhood with over 37,000 residents and new condominiums and apartment homes being built steadily.

Mayor de Blasio Delivers 2015 State of the City Address
In his second State of the City address, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced affordable housing would be the next front in his administration’s fight to lift up families and confront economic inequality. With housing the most significant cost facing New York City families, the Mayor laid out a sweeping set of programs to build a new generation of affordable housing, protect New Yorkers facing displacement from rising rents and harassment, and put in place the groundwork for denser, economically diverse communities with affordable homes for New Yorkers of all means.
From targeted new programs for populations like veterans and seniors, to specific neighborhoods being studied for growth and rezoning, to new resources to protect tenants, the State of the City put into practice key elements of the Housing New York plan to build and preserve 200,000 affordable homes in the coming decade.
Highlights of those initiatives include:
Building the Next Generation of Affordable Housing
Six Neighborhoods Now Slated for Mandatory Affordable Housing Requirements
In the first six neighborhoods now being studied for more residential capacity—East New York (Brooklyn), Long Island City (Queens), Jerome Avenue Corridor (Bronx), Flushing West (Queens), and newly announced Bay Street Corridor (Staten Island) and East Harlem (Manhattan)—a Mandatory Inclusionary Housing policy will require all new housing built under rezoning to include affordable units. The first rezoning will enter the formal land use process this spring.
Bring More Affordable Housing and Better Infrastructure to the Southwest Bronx
The City will invest $200 million in affordable housing, new infrastructure and job creation initiatives to the Lower Concourse area of the Southwest Bronx, which will include the construction of a new public open space, roads, local infrastructure upgrades, and remediation to spur development of up to 4,000 units of affordable housing. The design phase of the program will launch in the coming fiscal year.
Seize the Opportunity for Affordable Housing and Stronger Communities at the Sunnyside Yards
The City will work with communities in Queens to develop a new vision for the Sunnyside Yards in-keeping with the area’s working- and middle-class DNA. Development of the yards’ 200 acres represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build thousands of new affordable homes, knit together neighborhoods and meet vital needs facing western Queens for new open space, transportation and schools. The City will engage local stakeholders, the MTA, Amtrak and private owners to launch a feasibility study this month to determine the costs and infrastructure needs required to redevelop the rail yards.
Protecting New Yorkers from Displacement and Homelessness
Free Legal Defense for Tenants in All Areas Undergoing Rezoning
A new $36 million commitment will provide free legal representation in housing court to all tenants in rezoned neighborhoods facing harassment, building neglect or eviction proceedings. Approximately 90 percent of tenants enter housing court without a lawyer. The new funding will triple the City’s investment in these free legal services for tenants. Coupled with City efforts to protect and strengthen rent regulation in Albany, the City will aggressively protect the existing affordable housing in changing neighborhoods.
End Homelessness Among Veterans
Through new programs, new outreach, and a new priority for veterans in specific housing programs, the City will end homelessness by the end of 2015 for the approximately 1,000 veterans living in shelters and on New York City streets.
Help Seniors Live Independently
With half of seniors “housing-burdened,” the City will create and preserve 10,000 units of senior housing, supported by a $400 million capital investment as well as Section 8 vouchers. The first projects, many under a new Senior Affordable Rental Apartments (SARA) program, will begin in 2015.
Keep New York City Affordable for Artists and Makers
To help low-income artists thrive in New York City, the Department of Cultural Affairs will invest $30 million in 1,500 affordable live/work spaces for artists in the coming decade, working with cultural partners, housing agencies and the philanthropic community. The City will also convert underutilized City-owned assets into 500 below-market artist workspaces, creating new cultural hubs for communities to share in performances and arts education.

Sulphur Springs information...
Sulphur Springs is a city in Hopkins County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 15,449. It is the county seat of Hopkins County. Sulphur Springs is located along the western edge of Northeast Texas.
History...
Sulphur Springs derives its name from the fact that when the area was first settled, springs of sulfur water were abundant. Long before the first European-American settlers arrived, Native American tribes had occupied the areas around the springs and used them for their therapeutic value. The settlers also gathered around the springs, and the town developed around this area from the late 1840s.
Eli Bib, one of the first European-American settlers, ran a store from his cabin, selling staples, whiskey, persimmon beer, and slabs of ginger cake. In 1849, Dr. and Mrs. Davis moved into the area. Dr. Davis envisioned the spot as a future city. In 1850 the residents organized the area's first church, the Methodist Episcopal. Construction of the church was completed in 1853. In 1852, the Presbyterian Church was organized. At that time, the population of the village was 441. In order to serve the growing group of people, commodities began to be brought in from nearby Jefferson. New stores were established.
The village became a city in 1854 when the first post office was established. The city's name was originally Bright Star.[5] Mail to and from the city was delivered by the Pony Express. On May 18, 1871, the legislature moved the county seat of Hopkins county from Tarrant to Sulphur Springs, and the name Bright Star was removed from the postal directory.
