Nakhon Si Thammarat National Museum, Nakhon Si Thammarat Thailand
The Nakhon Si Thammarat National Museum is located on Rachadamnoen Road in the town of Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The museum displays religious and cultural items from all periods of human habitation of Nakhon Si Thammarat, from the prehistoric to the modern era. It’s open from 9am-4pm Wed-Sun and admission is 150 baht. My family found it very interesting and we’d definitely recommend a visit there if you’re interested in Thai culture or Thai history and in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Nakhon Si Thammarat is not really on the tourist map, but it is definitely worth a look when you travel Thailand. There's plenty of other things to see there including forests, caves, waterfalls, beaches, the famous pink dolphins, markets, great food and restaurants, and some amazing temples. It’s a great place to visit, where you can discover the real Thailand away from the tourist trail. If you want to see one of the most amazing countries in the world be sure to visit Thailand!

Shadow Puppet Museum in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand
It’s one of the oldest and most interesting art forms in the Thai culture: nang thalung, or in English, shadow puppetry. The best place to learn about it is in southern Thailand in Nakhon Si Thammarat at the Suchart Subsin Shadow Puppet House.
The museum was founded by Suchart Subsin. He is one of Thailand’s most skillful puppet-makers and performers, and has even performed puppet shows for the King. The Shadow Puppet House is now run by the next generation of his family. It’s an award-winning attraction that offers people the chance to learn about the history of shadow puppets, see how they’re made and even take in a show.
In the museum, there are shadow puppets on display from over the century. These characters from Thai dramas have a variety of forms form angels to ghosts, demons and damsels in distress. Guests can also compare Thai shadow puppets with those from other cultures, such as India, Turkey and Indonesia. There is also a display of the musical instruments used in shadow puppet plays.
Watching a show here at Suchart Subsin’s house is a fantastic way to learn about Thai culture and the local art of storytelling. Although it is in Thai, it’s a comedic performance that transcends language. The puppets are colorful, funny and the way the master moves them is incredibly skillful. The live music adds another element to the performance. Be prepared to be amazed at the suspense and flow of the story!
Last but not least, watching the process of making shadow puppets completes the experience. The puppets are made from cowhide, and one puppet can take over a month to carve and paint. The preparation behind the performance is truly masterful. You can also buy your own puppet or artwork here as a take-home treasure.
The Shadow Puppet Museum is located in the city centre at 10/18 Si Thammarat Rd, Soi 3. It is only about a ten-minute walk from the temple Wat Phra Mahathat.

Nakhon Si Thammarat (Thai: นครศรีธรรมราช, pronounced [náʔkʰɔːn sǐː tʰammarâːt], alternative English transliteration: Nakhon Sri Thammarat from Pali Nagara Sri Dhammaraja) is a city (thesaban nakhon) in southern Thailand, capital of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and the Nakhon Si Thammarat District. It is about 610 km (380 mi) south of Bangkok, on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. The city was the administrative center of southern Thailand during most of its history. Originally a coastal city, silting moved the coastline away from the city. The city has a much larger north to south extension than west to east, which dates back to its original location on a flood-save dune. The modern city centre on the train station is north of Old Town. As of 2005, the city had a population of 105,417.

Travel Vlog Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand
Me and my friends visited the famous land of temples in the south of Thailand - 2hours and a half drive from Krabi.
From temples, food and amazing fresh province air.. aghhh. It's the best way to relax and just appreciate the beautiful place.
Thanks to my friends who made it possible; Kerren, Foock and his (foock's) big sister Nicha who toured us for 2 days! Will definitely recommend this beautiful city/province.

MARKET in NAKHON si THAMMARAT, Thailand
The EARLY BIRD gets the FOOD
Early, early the work starts on the main market in central Nakhon si Thammarat. Already at midnight starts the day with all the preparations. How it works where we will return to in a separate article.
Today shall be focus on when the market is well under way for customers to buy their breakfast, or for today's cooking. The smaller eateries as well as the larger come here to feed. Here's everything you may need. All kinds of meats and fish. Chickens and other flying birds, butchered and cut, or cut up on the customer's request, according to his wishes. A long pork steak, so called pork chop boneless, maybe a customer wants one kilogram of. The clerk cut a bit saturated and sometimes puts a small slice more to obtain a kilo evenly. The meat will be mostly shredded in small pieces for the different pots to cook. But you can also use it as a steak, both plain roast pork or the so-called. Moo deng, a steak marinated with red rot and become quite red when serving.
