Arbor Skateboards :: Skateboarding Foreign Pavement - Argentina
Travel through the four largest cities in Argentina with Max Myers when he went down for this year's IGSA Snake Skeleton race. Armed with only a GoPro and a fleeting knowledge of Spanish, he travels 40+ hours via bus to visit and stay with the locals in San Luis, Buenos Aires, Mendoza, and Cordoba, skating all sorts of foreign pavement from mountain passes to crowded urban hairpins in between.

Playing For Change is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. Our primary focus is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos we call Songs Around the World. Creating these videos motivated us to form the Playing For Change Band—a tangible, traveling representation of our mission, featuring musicians met along our journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation—a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, we aim to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet. Learn more:

United | Playing For Change | Song Around the World
This song is featured as a bonus track on our latest album, PFC3: Songs Around The World Vinyl! Get it here:
In 2011, Playing For Change joined forces with the United Nations Population Fund and the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund for UNFPA’s 7 Billion Actions campaign. By the end of that year, the world population reached 7 billion, and this global campaign strove to bring awareness to the opportunities and challenges that the population growth would present. 7 billion people means 7 billion hearts, and music has always been the best way to speak to the hearts of the people. We traveled across the globe, put headphones on musicians, added them to the track, and created “United,” which serves as a tangible example of something positive we can all do together as a human race.

CONTIGO VIDEO- LOS PINGUOS
Original file date: Tue, 29 Jul 2014, ID:kpb2ap
Instead of calling in from a sound check or a stage, Adrian Buono, lead singer and guitar player of Los Pinguos, conducted his interview from a grassy field in Los Angeles. “We just finished a soccer game,” said Buono, in a South American-Spanish accent. “No, no we just lost.” After making circles around the world, Los Pinguos is settling in at the Ogden Nature Center on Aug. 7 for the center’s final concert of the summer. The band, now based out of Los Angeles, in 2001 left the fast-paced samba life of Buenos Aires, Argentina, for California. Buono, who has formally studied music his whole life, said performing has always been his dream, and the same can be said for other members of the band. “Yeah that was our dream, playing everywhere,” Buono said of his musical adventure around the world. “That was our goal, travel around the world, and play our music for the world, you know?” The ‘Latino Beatles’ Los Pinguos has often been referred to as the “Latino Beatles” for its rock and pop take on reggae, Latin rhythms and rumba flamenca. Ironically enough, The Beatles are Buono’s favorite band, and the comparison often makes him blush with pride. “It’s a little too much, well, I love it, I love the comparison,” he said, laughing. “For me, The Beatles is the best band ever, and (being) compared with The Beatles is a little too much. But I take it, why not?” The fab four of Los Pinguos each play an instrument or two, and bring their iconic South American spirit of fun and dance to live shows. Buono said Jose Agote, the other guitarist and backup vocalist, composes most of the songs for the band. “Well, Jose and me are the main writers, well, he’s the writer,” Buono said, adding that Santiago Lee, the bass player, also writes and sings back up. “But we compose everything, everything.” Although the band is actually a four-piece, when Los Pinguos plays shows at bigger venues, many guest musicians are added to the bill. The core band will perform at the Ogden concert. “Here and in L.A. also we play a lot, four of us. Everywhere like private parties, different events, clubs, restaurants. And sometimes, when it’s a bigger venue, we use a drummer with the horns, keyboard player. It’s much better, but it’s hard to travel with the whole band always, you know? But most of the time we play, four of us,” he said. As for the Aug. 7 concert, “We are gonna go with a drum set, two guitars and a bass player.” Aside from its originals, Los Pinguos is known for covering Gypsy Kings and, of course, songs by The Beatles. Brotherhood in the band Buono said his brother Enzo Buono used to play with him in Los Pinguos, but personality and egos soon got in the way. “Oh it was nice... a little hard for a moment because of personality, you know,” he said, shyly. “Of course in a band you want to get along, but personality and egos and everything so it wasn’t easy, but we handled it.” Luckily for Buono, the members of his band are like family, especially because they have been performing with each other as Los Pinguos for 15 years. If fact, they all moved to Los Angeles together as a band. “We know each other for a very long time, we are like family. We know each other for a long time,” he said, noting the members all played in different bands back home in Argentina before forming Los Pinguos in 1999. “We all come out together. We play first in Buenos Aires for a while and then one day we decided to come to L.A. to try for a couple months, and we stay for 14 years already.” Happy Music When Buono isn’t playing music with his “family,” he enjoys the laid-back lifestyle of Southern California. He lives on a boat in Marina Del Rey, and enjoys the weather and beauty of the scenery. He is also constan...
Beauty and the Flaws | Sophia Scott | Playing For Change | Live Outside
We are happy to share with you a new Live Outside video from our talented friend Sophia Scott, accompanied by Mermans Mosengo on calabash and Twanguero on guitar. “Beauty and the Flaws” is an original song about self acceptance and living in the moment.
“The message that I want to convey with this song is that although you may be stuck, or comparing, or feeling unaccomplished - this is all part of life and growing. I wanted to speak to what I believe to be more important, which are the relationships you’ve made, places you’ve been, and experiences you’ve had, because at the end of the day that’s what I think we are really left with. Nobody is perfect! Our imperfections are what make us human and what I believe to make us the most beautiful,” says Sophia.
As you listen to this song, remember to enjoy this journey called life! #ShareTheLove

Run | Playing For Change Band live in Goiânia
As we continue celebrating Women's History Month, we are excited to share the PFC Band performing Run, featuring Titi Tsira and Claire Finley. Written by Claire and her friend Jason Lamson, this feel-good song was inspired by a riff that Jason wrote—I’m gonna run, as fast as I can.
...And, I thought, so many songs that involve running play with the idea of running away from a bad thing. Instead, let's write a song that runs towards the good. Life can steer you in many different directions but if you stay true to your dreams and ideas....and really head straight for them, full steam....envisioning success, you might just find yourself in the right place, at the right time, doing exactly what you love, says Claire.
We hope this song inspires you to never stop running towards your dreams!

We are happy to share this beautiful video of the band, Los Pinguos, performing their song Fumaza, live outside on a boat in Marina del Rey, CA. We first met Los Pinguos as they were performing on the Santa Monica promenade and recorded them on our very first documentary featuring street musicians across the USA. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, the band plays a mixture of latin rhythms such as cumbia and rumba along with tango gypsy and rock influences. Put on your dancing shoes, forget about your troubles, and let the music carry you away.
