Dr. Keith Tankard - German Settlers 01
Local Historian, Dr. Keith Tankard, spoke at the Courtenay-Latimer Hall at the East London Museum (in the Eastern Cape of South Africa) on the evening of July 7, 2008. It was 150 years to the day that the Caesar Godeffroy sailed into the mouth of the Buffalo River carrying the first group of agricultural settlers from Germany.
Keith presented a preview of his forthcoming book Broken Promises which looks at the German Settler Immigration programmes that included the Military Settlers, the Agricultural Settlers and the Kennaway girls. This is an extract from his talk.

This is the second installment of the Saving Tara Video Diary. Please keep in mind that these are shot without a script and are done as an update to the ongoing study and restoration of the original movie set from Gone with the Wind.
Keep coming back to this site as we will be providing more videos over the coming weeks. And please help us get out the word that the big white house that stood on the back lot of Selznick Studios is not gone but has simply been waiting in Georgia for the day it could be restored and put on public display.
