San Rafael Swell Utah
The San Rafael Swell is a geographical feature in southeastern Utah on the Colorado Plateau. It is about 50 miles long and 30 miles wide. This 600,000 acre area along Interstate 70 has many unique and spectacular landforms. Some of the landforms are slot canyons, sandstone cliffs, mesas, buttes, springs and canyons. Most of the area is under the management of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Early Mormon settlers eked out an existence by ranching and taming the herds of wild horses that still roam the area. Some uranium mining was done in the 1950's. There are Native American rock art sites and the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry to explore as well. Slide show by John Wanserski.

Castle Country Trail System Price, Utah
We visit a real Dinosaur Quarry!
To finish up our study of dinosaurs and the dino filled areas of Utah, we drove out into the middle of nowhere to a place called the Cleaveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry. After a hot and exhausting hike there, we booked it over to Price, so we could see some of the dinosaurs that were extracted from the aforesaid quarry. That museum turned out to be quite a little treasure, and I'm sure we will be visiting again in the future.
**We are a homeschooling family of 12, with kids ranging from 2-year-old twins up to 2 college boys, and pretty much every age in between. Mom has a passion for educational travel, and she insists on dragging the family along for the ride. The goal this year is to explore as much of Utah as is practically (and financially, lol) possible.

Castle Country Overview
Produced and edited by Utah.com. Native American petroglyphs and Indian writing at Nine Mile Canyon are only a part of the many attractions in the Price area. Price sits at the top of the San Rafael Swell, which is home to vast deserts, yawning canyons, and fascinating rock formations. Goblin Valley State Park and the Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry are nearby destinations popular for nature enthusiasts, off-road riders, and rock hounding.
ATS: Kennecott Utah Copper Mine to Farmington.NM Part 1
I continue exploration of SCS's new Utah DLC by taking a heavy load from the Kennecott Utah Copper Mine near Salt Lake City in north central Utah to Farmington in north west New Mexico.
This is a two part trip. In part 1, he has hooked up the load which is a Lift Truck Chassis - rather long and heavy. It is at the John Deere facility inside the north end of the open-cut copper mine. Once ready, the driver maneuvers his way out of the facility and climbs some switchbacks up a face of the mine edge, before going through a tunnel and descending to the mine main entrance.
He turns right onto the access road, and travels through some countryside before entering a SLC suburb. Soon enough he reaches S.R. 151, which he takes east to the I-15.
He has decided to drive via Salina to pick up the eastern track of the I-70 between there and the I-191. This way is only slightly longer than via Provo and Price.
So he keeps on the I-15 to the Salina turnoff. It's not far to the town, and he takes the business route rather than go through the central town. He gets on the I-70 and drives through the spectacular mountains.
IRL, the road climbs the Salina Canyon into the Wasatch Plateau to Emigrant Pass in the Fishlake National Forest. It exits the plateau at the junction of SR-10, and then crosses the San Rafael Swell. This passes sheer canyons and rock formations and goes through tunnels. Features include the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, Devils Canyon, Eagle Canyon, Ghost Rock Summit, and exits via Spotted Wolf Canyon.
The ATS version of the I-70 shows some of those features. It then exits the mountains, and passes the northbound road to Price. Eventually a turnoff is required to the 191. As the driver is starting to get tired, and it is the end of the day, he goes under the Interstate and rests at Uncle Bob's Stop & Go truck park.
This is the end of part 1.
This is using ATS version 1.36.1.3s. I am using the mods (in the order):
* Minimal adviser interface for ATS & ETS2;
* Top Corner Mirrors for ATS & ETS2;
* Real Advertisements;
