Episode #28 - Climbing New Zealand | Queenstown
Possibly one of the most iconic crags in New Zealand. The Sundial is a prominent feature that you can see from the road when looking into the Remarkables. With 3 incredible routes on the north side of the Sundial we hiked up for a day of fun climbing to see the views and enjoy the flowing moves.
This was by far one of the best days of climbing we have had in Queenstown, the hike in is a bit of a mission but it is well worth it!!! Start up the Remarkables ski field road, park up and walk down the road on the right hand side (do not drive down this one it is a private road) You will then spot tracks heading off left and can follow these or follow the road to the end. Head towards the fence and hop over. Pretty much just follow the fence and tracks towards the Sundial as you can see it in the distance. Then Just follow the Cairns up the mountain and you should get to the crag.

Before anyone gets their panties in a twist about the drone footage and being in Queenstown. I know it is an aerodrome so before doing this went way overboard in getting permission.
1. Contacted operations at air traffic control Queenstown who directed me to log the flight on air share and confirmed that I could fly the drone within the Aerodrome.
2. Logged the flight on Airshare and gained permission through them
3. This was a shielded flight as we did not go higher than the structures surrounding us, I also did not go more than a 30m radius around the structure. If you are intending to fly a drone anywhere in Queenstown then you need to get permission and log the flights, if you'd like any information on this just drop me a comment or PM me here, facebook or insta and I will give you all the necessary information.

It was the fourth day in Queenstown. We planned to climb up Queenstown hill. Just minutes from the bustling hub of the town centre, the Queenstown Hill trail has to be one of the most popular and accessible scenic walks in Queenstown. The gentle gradient and stunning scenery make it enjoyable for the visitors. It took us two hours return.
The walk begins amongst the Douglas Fir forest, and will take you through a spectacular display of cairn rock sculptures made by previous walkers. From here the trail spreads into open grassland, with terrific views of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the striking mountain peaks which dominate the skyline. Atop the hill is Basket of Dreams sculpture by Caroline Robinson, a popular lookout spot, built to commemorate the Millennium.

Have you ever heard of Milford Sound? Neither have we until Josh and Charlotte discovered it deep off grid in New Zealand.
No wifi, cell or a grocery store within 2hr drive pushed these two out of the social network and into the forest of the Fjords!
