Shopping for custom made dresses in Hoi An, Vietnam | Hoi An Tailors and Custom Designers
In our latest travel video we hop on our bicycles and pedal around the old quarter area of Hoi An, Vietnam in search of custom made dresses for Audrey at the many tailors and custom designers found in and around the central part of town. With over 200 different tailors clustered in Hoi An, it's a rather daunting task to narrow down the selection to just a few different stores. Without a specific shop or store in mind, we had no idea where we'd end up.
Luckily, after spending several days exploring Hoi An, a few specific dresses caught Audrey's ever discerning eye. Audrey clearly has a much better eye for this kind of thing than I do ;)

When we finally settled on a specific shop Audrey found multiple dresses she liked, but eventually settled on just three to buy. I'm sure it was difficult for her to not walk out with the entire store.
I played the role of wonderfully considerate boyfriend holding her bags and carrying our money around with us. To be honest, I had fun watching her shop because I knew she was having the time of her life.
The tailor made some adjustments to help the dresses fit perfectly and we ended up paying roughly $18 USD for each dress with a slight discount. I'm sure we could have bargained further; however, we were happy with the price and thought it was a win-win situation.
For those shopping in Hoi An for clothes, we recommend visiting several tailors and not feeling overwhelmed by the at times very aggressive nature of the vendors. Being patient and looking around is the key to getting the best deal.
It's best not to put down a large deposit on any clothing you purchase as it gives very little incentive for the shop owners to make any potential alterations if needed. Instead pay a minimal deposit and pay the final amount once you've had a fitting and are happy with the end results.
Remember to bargain and shop around before making your final decision. With a plethora of stores to choose from taking your time will ensure you get the best quality clothes.
Often the prices first quoted are not the ones you end up having to pay - especially if you buy multiple items at the same store. Even if you don't enjoy the back and forth associated with bargaining, you'll be far more respected - even by the shop owners - by doing this:

Pete Visits a Tailor in Hội An, Vietnam for James Bond Clothes
Peter Brooker visited a tailor in Hội An, Vietnam to have some James Bond-inspired clothes made. He got a green safari jacket and a black, white and red checked sports coat made, both inspired by Roger Moore's clothes from The Man with the Golden Gun. He also got some J.W. Pepper shirts made.

Vietnam Tailored CLOTHES - OUR EXPERIENCE IN HOI AN
Everyone traveling to Vietnam and especially to Hoi An should consider getting a custom tailored outfit, such as an ao dai or a traditional Vietnamese woman's dress. These dresses are popular throughout the country because they really emphasize a woman's beauty. People wear them for special occasions like holidays and ceremonies or some even wear them to school. In Hoi An, Ngoc wanted to have one custom made and later sent to her (we were only in Hoi An for one night). This modern twist with extra high quality fabric compared to a typical one was over 200 US dollars. Remember, you get what you paid for.
In Hoi An, you can also get shoes and suits made too for fairly cheap, but the quality and style are both....

HOI AN TAILOR EXPERIENCE | VIETNAM TRAVEL VLOG (2019)
If you go to Hoi An, getting tailor made clothing is a must do. There are so many different tailor shops you can visit while in Hoi An. In this vlog i visit Mrs. Yung’s tailor shop. She has a great tailor shop, making anything you would like, from dresses to suits, bikinis, shirts, trousers and almost anything you would like she can make it for you.
The process is quite simple. Bring in a photo or an idea of what you would like. Then she measures you, you choose the fabrics and your good to go. I waited 2 days for my clothing to be made. Once i arrived back at her store she did some quick retouches to my liking and it was that easy.
Mrs. Yung also offers the opportunity to get clothing delivered to you. All you have to do is email or whatsapp her. She keeps all your measurements, so once you fly back home if you wanted anything else she can send this to you. And of course you would pay the extra for postage.
If you are visiting Hoi an and want to try out Mrs. Yung’s tailor shop her address is:
Chan Troi Skyline, Custom Tailor, 33 Hoang Dieu street, Hoi An city

Clothes & Boots in Hoi An Vietnam
In my latest adventures through Vietnam, I stumbled on a place that was like Disney Land for fashionistas... Hoi An, Vietnam. While there, I was able to have custom made black (nice) leather thigh-high boots, and an entire wardrobe crafted for less than what I spend on a pair of jeans in the U.S. Defo worth the trip. Only problem? I got designers block which leads me to ask: If you could have any piece of clothing custom designed to fit you, what would you choose?
