Maine is the northernmost state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. Maine is the 39th most extensive and the 41st most populous of the U.S. states and territories. It is bordered by New Hampshire to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec to the north. Maine is the easternmost state in the contiguous United States, and the northernmost east of the Great Lakes. It is known for its jagged, rocky coastline; low, rolling mountains; heavily forested interior, and picturesque waterways; and also its seafood cuisine, especially clams and lobster. There is a continental climate throughout the state, even in coastal areas such as its most populous city of Portland. The capital is Augusta.

Fancy seeing you here! The crew of a Coast Guard ship in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, spotted a highly unusual sight for those waters on Tuesday: a 20-foot shark.

Maine
Maine (/ˈmeɪn/; French: État du Maine) is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and south; New Hampshire to the west; and the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the northwest and New Brunswick to the northeast. Maine is both the northernmost and easternmost portion of New England. It is known for its scenery—its jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low, rolling mountains, its heavily forested interior, and picturesque waterways—as well as for its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams.
For thousands of years, indigenous peoples were the only inhabitants of the territory that is now Maine. At the time of European encounter, several Algonquian-speaking peoples inhabited the area. The first European settlement in Maine was by the French in 1604 on Saint Croix Island, by Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Mons. The first English settlement in Maine, the short-lived Popham Colony, was established by the Plymouth Company in 1607. A number of English settlements were established along the coast of Maine in the 1620s, although the rugged climate, deprivations, and conflict with the local peoples caused many to fail over the years.

Another 200+ mile 3 day weekend. 3 days of brilliant sunshine, 14 great riders (aged from mid 30's to mid 60's)., an encounter with lost cows, grueling ascents, hair raising descents, near death experiences with sloppy motorists and a 5 rider crash/pile-up - what more could you ask for. This whole area is part of the 'Tornado Alley' and anytime spring through summer it's possible to encounter one of these nasty things, but as bad as they are, if you are traveling around here the chances are slim that a tornado will spoil your trip.
It was sunny and quite hot, around 100 °F or more than 37C.
