After years of decline, Detroit is now on the rise. Unlike many of the formerly Manufacturing cities of have declined and remain depressed, Detroit is rising up. We show this now beautiful city on the shores of the Detroit River in this Aerial & Ground tour of the Midwest's 2nd Largest City, only behind Chicago.

Detroit is older than our country, founded in 1701. The city grew largely to its automobile industry, but also fell with the automobile industry. Today, however the once bankrupt city is now rising with an explosive real estate market in the downtown corridor.
We feature the People Mover in this video which was opened in 1987. It is a monorail style 2.9 mile loop around downtown with 13 stops at a fare of 75 cents. We show Ford Field home of the Lions, and Comerica Park home of the Tigers. We had meant to also show Joe Louis Arena home of the Red Wings. It is right next to the Cobo Center, and we simply saw that and was thinking we had shot the arena but didn't.
The Renaissance Center is the most impressive and modern looking of the downtown Skyscrapers. It is the world head quarters of General Motors. It is so large it has its own Zip Code. 10,000 empolyees work in this building.

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is an annual auto show held in Detroit, Michigan at Cobo Center, usually in January. It is among the largest auto shows in North America.[1]
The show begins with press preview days, industry preview days and a charity preview event. The charity preview raises money for local children's charities. In 2004 and 2005, the charity preview attracted 17,500 people at $400 a ticket and raised $7 million in total. 2006 was the sixth consecutive year the charity preview event raised over $6 million. 35,711 tickets were sold for the industry preview representing people from 24 countries in 2005 and 6,897 credentialed press from 63 countries. Over 800,000 attended during the days the show was open to the general public in 2004. It is estimated that the show generates a revenue of over $500 million to the local economy.
The NAIAS is the one of only a few auto shows in the United States sanctioned by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles.

Silent Vigil for Palestine - PCUSA, Cobo Center Detroit
The Michigan Coalition for a Just Peace in Palestine and Israel organized a silent vigil and mock-wall at the 221st General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of the United States in Detroit, Michigan - June 2014.
At least 150 people participated in the mock-wall outside of the Cobo center despite the rain and thunderstorm.
A silent vigil was held inside as we waited for the storm to calm; a line stretched almost the entire length of the inside of the Cobo center.
The GA resulted in a divestment measure from US corporations Caterpillar, Motorola Solutions, and Hewlett-Packard for their investment in occupation and apartheid.

Black and white 16mm kinescope of the film A Visit to Cobo Hall. The film follows a pair of men as they tour Cobo Hall in an electric cart and on foot, while a narrator discusses the features of the complex.
Following an introduction over external shots of the building, the camera rolls from the back of the cart as the men drive across Hall A. They then pass through a raised length of wall into Hall B, and then Hall C. Hall C is set up with rows of folding chairs for a political event. The narrator notes that the halls are outfitted with telephone, video, and gas connections. The film then moves downstairs to Hall D for shots of that space. Next, the two men are shown beside the windows of the main ballroom. The narrator discusses the ballroom's decor and amenities. The main kitchen is featured next, as the narrator expounds on the hall's food service capabilities. Over a pan around the exterior of the complex, the narrator introduces Convention Area. The camera then moves inside of the area of a series of shots. The film ends with an aerial zoom out from Cobo Hall to the city's downtown skyline.
The film is housed in a brown metal canister with a Department Report and Information Committee label on its lid. The label reads, A Visit to Cobo Hall, WSU-TV & DRIC, 314' 00:08:43.
