This mine is located off Highway 298 near Jessieville, Arkansas in the Ouachita Mountains.
This mine has been in operation since the mid-1960s and is one of the largest producers of clear quartz in the states.
They offer a fresh tailing dig to the public at a small fee. The search area is replenished regularly by bringing up new material from the actual active mine site. There is no set schedule for this and it depends on the weather and availability of equipment.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please share it with your friends. Thank You.

Arkansas Quartz Crystal Vacation Part 1
In April 2007 I took 4 days and went to dig quartz crystals in
the Quartz Crystal Capitol of the world Mount Ida, Arkansas.
This was a big adventure. I asked the god of the deep blue sky
if I could go and the answer was silence and a smile. So I
stepped out into unknown country and had good sailing
on almost the whole trip.
I took the scenic route on 5971. That's a road called
59 and another called 71 and together they are called 5971.
It goes up north along the western edge of Arkansas
into the mountains.
I love Arkansas. I felt extremely at home in this seemingly
rural state.
Before I went to Mt Ida I looked on YouTube for videos of the area
and didn't find much. I hope this is helpful to you.
The Mount Ida Chamber of Commerce was most helpful in providing
maps of crystal mines in the area.
I came back with about a hundred pounds of crystals.
