Wheatland Ferry

Here is a collection of shots of the Wheatland Ferry which is a cable ferry that connects Marion County and Yamhill County across the Willamette River. The ferry is supported by two steel cables, one under water on the downriver side, and one overhead on the upriver side. The ferry also uses the overhead cable for steering. The Wheatland Ferry is located at Willamette River mile 72, near the former community of Wheatland and Willamette Mission State Park and roughly between the cities of Salem and Newberg. Its location is strategic, because the nearest bridge in either direction is roughly 15 miles distant. The Wheatland Ferry is sometimes used as an alternative to the bridge which crosses the Willamette River in Salem.

The Racing River!! Molalla River rock-n-rolls March 8, 2017 at Canby Park.
Bring the kayaks! canoes! paddle boards! innertubes! wow, bring it!! This is a POTENTIAL prime water-fun-activities river ~~~ however, it's cold and rainy right now, so probly not the best time for that. However, in Summer the water levels are so low that rocks are everywhere and the flow is slow, so what I would really love to do is get on my wetsuit, air tank, fins, mask, and take a river ride!! The only possible problem might be my air tank getting caught on something, that wouldn't be good. I also think it would be fun to have a 3-mile-stretch of river where people could enter, ride the river (body surf) and exit safely (like floating decks to climb up on). Example: there's golf courses in every city; how about having River Runs in every city???? exciting idea...
