We are on our way to see Lake Como and to visit Bellagio and Varenna.
Milan central station looks great, very chaotic, despite the signs..
Lake Como is easily accessible from here as are the airports.
Bus tours of the city are also running from the front of the station.
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Centrale FS is a station on Line 2 and on Line 3 of the Milan Metro in Milan, Italy. The station was inaugurated in 1970, and it became an interchange with Line 3 in 1990. The station was the terminus of Line 2 until 1971, when the trains reached Porta Garibaldi, and of Line 3 until 1991, when Sondrio was opened. The station is located just under the Milan Central Station. The station is underground with 2 tracks in a single tunnel both for Line 3 and Line 2, Line 2 running deeper than Line 3.

Casas de pedra, ruas estreitas, bonita praça e a imponente igreja de San Giovanni Battista justificam a visita. Depois há sempre a magnifica vista sobre o Lago Como.

In this short video we present San Giovanni (Bellagio). We started the day very early with a visit to the small village of San Giovanni which is 2 km from the center of Bellagio. Stone houses, narrow streets, beautiful square and the imposing church of San Giovanni Battista justify the visit. Then there is always the magnificent view of Lake Como.

Sendo a estrada principal que liga Bellagio a Como, não deixa de ser uma estrada estreita e com muitas curvas, sendo delimitada muitas vezes por casas e em algumas zonas é preciso parar para passar outros carros ou pessoas.

Lake Como, Italy Pt.3: Varenna Esino train station, with info to the pier
Stazione Ferroviaria di Varenna - Esino. The railway station of Varenna is the fastest way to travel from Milan to Bellagio.
Ferry trip usually takes no more than 15 minutes.
There is a taxi stop just as you exit the train station.
When you reach the station just follow the signs and head to the port.
It is a 400-meter distance. Find Via per Esino and walk past the bridge to Via Imbarcadero.
When you reach the lake turn left and head to the pier.
Trip from Milano Centrale Railway Station to Varenna
might take only 64 minutes, depending on the train.
Trains to Varenna usually have as their final destination SONDRIO or TIRANO.
If you wish to visit Bellagio it is faster to follow this route.

Train Journey Bergamo to Lecco - Lake Como Part 2
In part 1, we flew to Milan Bergamo airport. This is the next stage, taking the train from Bergamo to Lecco, our destination for the holiday.
OK, so it isn't the greatest video in the world, but you do get to see a bit of Italy as the train trundles through the Italian countryside. One day I'll get a camera that can focus as it zooms, and a microphone with a cardoid response for the narration. Give it time... ;)

LAKE COMO || A Day Trip
We wanted to spend a night around lake como but due to a limited time we decided to just do a day trip which gave us enough glimpse of the beautiful lake and its surrounding towns.

From Milano Centrale train station we took an hour train ride to Varenna-Esseno for only 6 euros.
It’s a beautiful little town just northeast of the famous Bellagio.
We then took a 15 minute ferry ride to Bellagio passing other amazing lakeside towns.
After arriving at Bellagio we were greeted by an elegant atmosphere where people just relax by the lakeside and champagne on their hand. Bellagio is also called the pearl of the lake. We definitely agree and the picturesque alleys and the site of the emerald colored lake did not disappoint us.
Next up we rode another ferry down to the City of Como which the lake was named from. It’s a bigger community than bellagio and sits at the southwestside of the lake near the italian-swiss border. It is surrounded by green ridge hills resulting in unparalleled natural scenery.
We then rode a furnicular that took us up to a little mountain community over looking the City of Como. It was an experience seeing the lake and the city.
As the dark quickly creeped in we made our way to San giovanni station to catch an hour train ride back to Milan.
Exploring lake como in just a day is doable if you have a limited time when you are around Milan. But if you really wanted to embrace the atmosphere and relax by the lakeside you should spend at least a night in one of the towns around the lake. But for us seeing this stunning lake just a short while considering our limited is enough. And if given a chance we would definitely go back and spend more time.

In San Giovanni he stayed with his wife at La Mella This restaurant (La Mella) and San Giovanni were made famous by the Netflix series “Dogs” and the Episode “Ice on Water”.

Trip from Milano Centrale Railway Station to Varenna
might take only 64 minutes, depending on the train.
Trains to Varenna usually have as their final destination
SONDRIO or TIRANO.
If you wish to visit Bellagio it is faster to follow this route.
Taking the train to Como and then continuing to Bellagio
might take more than double the time.
Ferry trip from Varenna to Bellagio is about 15 minutes long.

On the way to Varenna, prefer to sit on the left side of the train
so you can have a better look at lake Como.
Most of the trains stop to Monza,
then continue to Lecco and Varenna Esino.
There are electrical outlets below the window at each seat row.
Driving the 73 Km distance will usually take you more time (75-90 min) than the train speeding at about 130 Km/hour.
